This is just more proof of how good a driver Kevin Harvick was. What Harvick did with cars that were overall terrible is next level.
Harvick could’ve raced competitive until his 50s if he was in a faster car. I bet he could’ve had some opportunities to stick around if he really wanted to
@@mccannmotorsports3858 I completely agree with that. He saw how things were going at SHR and decided it was time. He was still competitive in several races this last year, even with SHR. Should have won a couple.
@@mccannmotorsports3858would’ve been like Harry Gant, if not better
I don’t think you guys give Chase Briscoe enough credit for the round of 8 push he had last year, and the final four steal he could of have taken…. For a guy with less experience he has raced much better than the other two
Your dam right about KH and Rodney Childers isn’t so bad either.
SHR went from winning a total of (I think) 18 races in 2020 to winning ONCE in 2021
There must have been a rule change within NASCAR that SHR has not been able to wrap their heads around and has been a problem for them
You don’t go winning 9 races in a season to going winless just like that
I think I remember Rodney Childers talking about that around then
@@EricEsteppI believe it had to do with some filling in the rear having to do with downforce
Jeff Gordon: am I a joke to you?
@@EricEstepp You are correct. According to Rodney Childers, NASCAR rules changes eliminated most of the things SHR did to set up their cars to win races. It is just like in sports where a rule change negatively impacts one team more than other teams.
@@automan224 since I never watched him race and saw him in the booth for 2 years
Yes
I like Ty moving to trucks, he’s certainly got the talent for that series and I think he could definitely make more of a splash in that series than in cup.
Trying the JHN route
stewart haas had engineers and fabricators who were top of the line. in the gen 7 they had many tricks up their sleeve, remember that talladega performance. But they’re data does not match up with the lower horsepower. Even with their struggles in this car they performed better at the tracks with the lower downforce/ smaller spoiler higher horsepower package.
You mean gen 6 as Next Gen is gen 7. Old school stuff no longer works and even Rodney is having to figure out how to adapt. Rodney is old school and he would still be good in the Xfinity series never less with the KHI late model program
I’m glad Kyle Busch is ok
There has NEVER been a worse time to be an SHR fan…
Maybe 2024 will be the breakout year. Tomorrow is the last day of 2023.
I have high hopes for SHR in 2024. I think they may make a turnaround. The new Mustang and young talent. Seems like they are all putting in the work.
SHR really hasn’t been the A+ team we want to make them out to be. No matter how much Kevin kept them on life support. Bout the time Clint Kurt left????
The driver etiquette is the main problem with the truck series. It’s the 3rd top series of nascar but we have kids moving up the ranks who lack any sort of racing discipline.
Whatever! It’s the history of the series from the start and NASCAR bragged about it, promoted it, and made commercials about it from the beginning. Hornaday, Skinner and others became household names over it from the beginning.
And the drivers you mentioned are not kids without racing etiquette. Name some kids with racing etiquette and then you have a roper rebutal to what the original comment was. The guy has a point. @johnlafever3162
@@Lancr-jq2or how about you mind yours and I mind mine?
I was rebutting the “nature of the series” of having a long storied history “from the beginning” of rough driving! You think that’s going to change when advancement comes to those that go grab the gusto or the fact that those veterans are still coaching drivers coming up through the series? Get real!
Oh please….. Ty Dillon should be grateful to just have a Truck Series ride. He’s not Cup material. He’s proven that over the years.
With all the bullying going on with TY on social media I laugh at those haters. Rooting for Ty because I do the opposite with all those spewing hate. Can’t wait for the season to start & watch this story unfold.
Twitter/X is full of clowns.
Happy new years to you Eric. Thanks as always for the updates and news
Just more proof how freaking good Kevin Harvick is and was
Rodney is really good as an old school crew chief and he even admitted that he doesn’t know how to make the cars faster. Rodney isn’t used to having to be an engineer that he isn’t as can’t do his tricks anymore
@@johnhaas2523 but truly no crew chief can make the car go faster as in overall speed it has. That’s the HP limitations on the engines but he can make the car handle better in turn some laps being faster than others. Hope that makes sense
@@hunternixonfishing2500well with the gen 6 before nascar really closed the gray areas crew chiefs like Rodney could find ways to make the cars faster like how the air moves over the car like the back window brace thing and some of the other things that he got busted for over the years and Don’t forget about how much Chad was busted. I don’t think Chad would be very good as crew chief today with the next gen. Larson is so good because clif Daniels is an engineer
SHR lost a lot of funding when kevin retired going to be tough finding that kind of money on new drivers
Noah himself is probably bringing half of that amount of money and then add on whatever Johnny Morris and black rifle coffee going to pay and any other sponsors or Noah brings enough money like did at Jrm that allowed Johnny Morris and black rifle coffee to be on the car full time. Noah brings family money from Vegas
With Tony Stewart going full time in Drag Racing and Gene Haas full time in Formula 1. Hey…Tony and Gene name might be on the building but with no leadership and both owners moving on maybe it’s time to sell SHR. Maybe Ty Dillon has finally found his place in racing I hope he has a great year in the truck series.
Listening to the Robbie Reiser interview on the DJD it sounded to me like he wanted to make changes for the future but ownership and upper management fought him on it.
Worth noting that Harvick specifically is the reason SHR was considered a top team after 2012. It’s like, SHR won I think 12 races in 2018, 8 of those were Harvick (should’ve been more lol), 2020 they won 10 races, 9 of those were Harvick.. even back in 2014-2016, Kurt ran well (Top 7-11) but it was just Harvick that was consistently contending for wins every week.
I’d wager aside from 2014/2015 and 2018 that SHR hasn’t had a top car, it’s just been that if you have Harvick and Childers something close enough they could carry it the rest of the way.
SHR can’t just win a bunch of races and then struggle
What’s caused the fall off at SHR is Tony right or wrong is an Absentee owner. Not throwing shade at smoke if your going to be Absentee then doing with your wife drag racing is more than a good enough reason to do so. We will see if this continues (the slide) gene may buy him out at some point. Can’t do CUP if it’s not your # 1 priority. Love the show buddy. Happy new year!
Good to see Ty being back in trucks. Not because I’m a fan, but just because I think that’s where he belongs. Gets old seeing him somehow get a cup ride over and over and over without performing. I know he hasn’t been in great cup rides, but the dude has never been in contention for a win and is rarely in contention for top 10s.
In terms of SHR, I just don’t understand how they are acting like this came out of nowhere. It’s been pretty obvious for a while now.
SHR is in what they call in stick and ball sports “A rebuild”. Even with good cars not sure this lineup is competing for wins in 2024. Good for T Dillion for making this move. Choices were probably quite limited. Happy New Year Eric. Thanks for a great year of content.
