If I recall correctly from the Slapshoes vid, Hamlin’s comments were deemed “actions detrimental to stock car racing”…. Which may have inspired something.
Probably this is a cultural thing but, I personally find the idea of fining your drivers / players when they criticize your organization crazy. Before I start getting attacked by anyone disagreeing about this, let me dive deeper :
I’m 1000 % okay with the NFL fining players, prime and latest example being Patrick Mahomes allegedly calling out the referees over his sole and own frustration.
However when it comes to racing I don’t get the hell why a constructed and objective statement like Denny’s in this case leads to a fine, he knows better than anyone what is wrong with the car and how to fix it both in a performance and entertainment standpoint.

Debris cautions didn’t go away. They’re now known as stage breaks

Stating an opinion? Sounds like NASCAR was on Twitter too much
