He meant “easier to put the power down” as the car being more stable and predictable. There’s a difference between a stable slide and an unstable slide
Good point. Thanks for clarifying!
My understanding of that is that the cars are “stable” loose, rather than the “unstable” snappy loose they’ve been the last couple years.
I’d like to see them make a unilug 15 inch wheel to get away from the narrow sidewall. That and narrow them
@@animal_SS70had they remained 15” steel wheels, we’d still have 5 lugs, no uni-lug necessary. The single lug was necessitated by the change to 18” aluminum wheels. Unfortunately I think the larger wheels are here to stay as they better reflect the wheels used on everyday over the road cars
@@animal_SS70 IF (and it’s a big if) NASCAR is really trying to get back to at least approximating a car you can actually buy, that’s not going to happen.
Even the cheapest Corolla has 205/55/16s (low profile).
Great video Eric! I always get excited when I see you post, especially when it is a heavy news week in the offseason
This is one of my favorite YouTube channels.
NASCAR needs to stop playing aero games and just give them more power. Doesn’t have to be back at 900-1000 hp, but something like 750 hp is realistic
I would be up for that
But it does have to be 900-1000. Least that’s what reddick said, in order to make a difference
@@alexz.kollar4221 Can’t say Tyler Reddick is off.
Crazy day filled with news today. Dollar Tree and Family Dollar will sponsor LMC all 38 races during the season across all 3 teams. With Johnson having them for 3 races, it means that JHN and Erik will have them altogether for 35 races
Saw that 38 Special will hold a pre-race concert at Texas Motor Speedway in April.
Something tells me that Matt Kenseth played a role in LMC’s sponsorship deal
That’d made a ton of sense
I was thinking the same thing when I heard this announcement since he did have similar sponsorship by the same owner
You do realize that Dollar Tree is a completely different company from Dollar General right.
The lack of stage cautions improved road course racing drastically last year and it’s such a shame they are back now. Listen to the people who do well at them and their complaints about how it means they need to throw away stage points if they are going away for the win. It’s silly to want to avoid doing well so you can be there in the end.
The Watkins Glen race begs to differ. Stage cautions are a necessity until they fix the car/package.
@@SpeedDemon88Xwhat was wrong with the Watkins Glen race? Seriously, all I remember is being pissed off at Chase Elliott running out of fuel
@craigstephenson7676 there was almost no passing for the lead, mid pack, anywhere really. Field spread out. Hardly any cautions. I believe it was the fastest start-finish of any cup series race in decades.
@@SpeedDemon88X The Indy Roval race was good and it had no stage cautions. Just because of one race, you people forced NASCAR to bring them back… f*ck off.
People have been constantly questioning Jimmie Johnson’s capabilities as an owner, but you have to give credit where credit is due, Jimmie is making moves. He is doing whatever it takes to put Legacy in the best position possible. New manufacturer, wholesale changes within the organization, new sponsors, the whole 9 yards. Hiring one of his best friends in Matt Kenseth as a competition advisor to me is also lowkey a very underrated signing. Expectations are definitely high, but at least they have the funding and they’ll have more resources at their disposal now that they’re with Toyota. It’s going to be weird seeing Jimmie in a Toyota, but at the end of the day, it’s a business.
Well said bro
I’m tryna see that team (maybe 23XI but definitely not Joe Gibbs) get a WEC toyota chassis for the 24hrs of Le Mans in a couple years
I just wish they could for one race run with the 4 flipped. Especially now that they are with Toyota there are so many opportunities for mirror world merch etc. They would have to probably get Hendrick approval but it would be cool to have even bowman merch that would be a mirror image of 84 merch.
100% agree with your assessment of stage cautions in road courses
I really hope LMC, and the Dollar brands end up with like one store on the 42 for half a season, and the other brand on the 43 for the other half. Ive been wishing for teams to go back to 1-2 primary sponsors a year, im a big fan of the uniformity of attaching “hes the Dollar Tree guy” with drivers. Maybe LMC might even push for commercials and other media, which hopefully might get other drivers onboard with doing more promotional material.
The current “loose” in the nextgen is borderline impossible when it comes to saving the car from snapping loose and out of control. The update with the aero package should make it slightly more predictable.
I’m so happy that i get to see Johnson race in person one more time at Dover. Don’t forget that he finished 3rd there last time. I think a top ten is possible
I’m really happy to hear about Dollar tree and Family Dollar involved sponsor the three LMC cars WOW! Then Jimmie Johnson will be the Dover Motor Speedway because me and his friends are going to be hopefully be there! I’m really looking forward to this year now!
I’m so hyped about Jimmie at Dover. He was my favorite driver growing up, my first ever race attended was his final ever win. Buying tickets now.
I wonder if Matt Kenseth had anything to do with this new sponsorship deal. We all now that back in his JGR days he had dollar general as his sponsor. But nonetheless this is a big deal for Legacy motor club as they try and improve this season. But I’m a huge fan of this nailing of major sponsorship. Can’t wait to see dollar general on track this season.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a whole other year of a constant conversation about “we need to get the short track and road course package right” yeah I believe this might help with passing but they are still going to be able to downshift and get right back up to speed after missing a corner. But I could be wrong I’m no professional. I hope for the best. Thanks for the updates everyday eric.
So great that Legacy M.C. were able to land Advent Health for a number of races and now Dollar Tree and Family Dollar! Perhaps Matt Kenneth (of Dollar General sponsorship) had some influence for this one? Considering they barely had any outside sponsorship last year, losing Focus Factor out of nowhere, they really needed this. So pumped for them!
