Can’t blame Kyle on leaving at that point when it came to Oracle and JGR.

RC better negotiator.

Kaz used to race Legends cars at my home track. We love em up here in New England. He’s gonna have allot of support, even driving a Rick Ware car. I just hope they can get some good chassis and engines from RFK and really solidify themselves as a top 20-25 team just to keep them from being at risk with the charters.

Sad to say but the best thing to happen to RWR is Cody getting in trouble

Now RWR might actually be competing for Top 20 finishes instead of finishes languishing in the 30s.

@@CJODell12 Justin Haley and Kaz Grala. What a perfect team! What about the #52 and #53?

Predictions:
#52: Cody Ware
#53: Garrett Smithley or Natalie Decker

Ok but is like nobody realizing that this is legit the strongest driver lineup Rick Ware has ever seen? I’m super excited to see what they can do. Super happy for Kaz Grala to be in Cup.

Joe gibbs racing, in general, has not been a likable team for quite some time. Despite the success of Kyle, Denny, and many of their other drivers, people have not liked Gibbs as an organization since the days of Bobby Labonte and Dale Jarrett, and Pontiac/Chevrolet. Many people blame Gibbs for Matt Debenideto’s struggle, making it too expensive to maintain their alliance. Martin Truex Jr was more popular at Furniture Row than he is at Gibbs, and I have heard people claim that they “allowed” Furniture Row to close just so they could get Truex IN house. They didn’t seem to put up much of a fuss when Carl Edwards walked away suddenly. They rushed Joey Logano into Cup too soon. Many people feel that they mistreated Eric Jones, Daniel Suarez, even your beloved Matt Kenseth. I’m not claiming that Kyle Busch did himself any favors with his bullying and/or temper tantrums, but who he drove for made it that much easier to boo at driver introductions. If Bush had gone to Childress from Hendrick, he might not have as many wins and championships at this point, but he would have never faced as much hatred as he did up until last year.

Wow — an impressive, thoughtful reply, one I certainly agree with — all except for Kyle going directly to RCR. I think his 2 playoff wins were far more important to him than the booes that he got before and after his races or being the “villian”. Glad to see that with his move to RCR he’s now more relaxed. I’ve been his fan since his Hendrick’s Kellogg days and will be until he retires…

I’ve been a die-hard Kyle Busch fan since his rookie season back in 2005. When I 1st heard the RCR announcement in September of 2022, I originally was not happy. But what turned me around to it was Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Burton’s pre-race interview with Kyle Busch in the 2022 playoff Bristol night race. Dale Jr. and Jeff Burton are 2 guys who have both know Richard Childress Racing inside-out. In that short, 5-minute interview with Kyle, they convinced me it would work. In 2023, Clint Bowyer, another former RCR driver/associate, convinced me even further. All throughout the FOX broadcast portion of the 2023 schedule, Clint Bowyer did his best to explain even why he felt it would work. Bowyer, Burton, and Dale Jr. all have competed against Kyle Busch and have competed for RCR as drivers. But for me, the final push was Larry Mcrynolds, the final crew-chief of Dale Earnhardt Sr. before he died. Larry was Dale’s crew-chief at RCR, and even he said Kyle Busch would work. To quote Larry, “The more I thought about it, the more I realized that: Kyle Busch is exactly what RCR needed, and RCR is exactly what Kyle Busch needed.” That pretty much settled any debate about Kyle’s decision.

what did it for me was the interview with Richard. You could see that HE was excited about Kyle driving for him. The look in his eyes said it all.

Picking up Kyle was a success for RC and Kyle. Never been a huge Busch fan but him being successful without Gibbs equipment has made me very happy.

I mean I was so sad Kyle left JGR but it’s commendable that he didn’t want Joe Gibbs to sink his money into keeping Kyle when he knows how much Gibbs and he had a great relationship.

I read somewhere a couple years ago that RCR had more sponsorship money than all other teams except Hendrick. More than JGR with 4 cars. They have plenty of funding.

Reply
@Skyvernius January 19, 2024 at 2:29 am

To me it sounds like that Busch is saying outside of the Oracle deal that JGR didn’t put any serious effort behind getting any other sponsors for him. I’m becoming more interested to see how the battle between Spire, Kaulig, and RWR turns out in 2024. As for Matt Dibenedetto he’s becoming more Matt DiBenedone-o in Nascar from how many bridges he has burned with his “betting on himself” stunts over the last few years.

@knagy17 January 19, 2024 at 2:34 am

I agree that the move to RCR was good for Kyle, but I don’t think being a heel bothered him much. To me, I actually feel the opposite is true regarding him and Denny. Kyle fed the crowd a lot and toyed with them, especially in the latter years at JGR. While we’re starting to see that with Denny, he still just looks uncomfortable trying to play that role.

As a Matt DiBenedetto fan, his fall has been a sad ride to see, filled with tons of historic revisionism, and overlooking of factors, however, I will concede that he’s burned his way out. I’ve always appreciated his honesty and that he was never shy about his struggles and grind to make it into this industry. He was absolutely justified in how he felt after getting canned at WBR for Burton, and I still hold firm that he should’ve been brought back in 2022. However, his 11 minute rant video was a terrible decision to do, and idiotically saying “Let’s Go Brandon!” at Phoenix that year was the death nail for him. The dude has never been able to atract sponsorship, and then he does that. That’s how you destroy what little marketability you may have had. He was never going back to Cup again after that, unless if he pulled off a miracle. That never came. As for his time at Rackley WAR, things on the surface seemed fine, which is what made his departure all the weirder. But, his incessant need to always find something “better” has finally caught up to him. Who’d want to sign someone who attracts no sponsorship, who then in turn will quickly leave for something “better”, throwing your whole team under the bus for any shortcomings (even if it’s, like, 70% true for Matt), and then repeat the cycle over and over again. I still like Matt, but he did this to himself. He lacked the patience to build something special, like Corey Lajoie is doing with Spire. And clearly, too much honesty can be a detriment, and in this industry, with how unstable sponsorship is, honesty is not a card to be playing at every opportunity like Matt did. Maybe one day we’ll learn more about Matt behind the scenes. Everything about him suggests he’s a good guy, but perhaps there’s a chance that his over honesty is masking his true colors, thereby making him a dishonest fellow, and people have finally had enough of it. I’d certainly hope not, and I sincerely hope that’s not the case. I wish him well, but unfortunately, it seems his NASCAR career is dead. It’s a shame. Oh what could’ve been if he won at Bristol in 2019…

@Rad0905 January 19, 2024 at 7:25 am

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I like the guy but it’s 100% on him. He tried to do what JHN by “betting on himself” and leaving a decent but not great ride on his own terms. But with all the outside factors and his reputation, he’s not in the position to make that happen. JHN was a young clean slate, brimming with potential when he “bet on himself”. Matt bet on himself not realizing he has a huge red bullseye painted on his back.

@andrewmeyer4124 January 19, 2024 at 7:51 am

@Rad0905  The thing with Matt is that the “bet on himself” worked perfectly in 2018 when he got the 95 car. His problem was that he’s kept trying to do it over and over when doing it once successfully is nearly impossible itself, let alone, two or three times

Let’s go Brandon has nothing to do with his situation. No one remembers that but huge fans. Most sponsors in nascar are conservative.

It must genuinely be so nice for Kyle to not hear boos every weekend and to know that he is actually liked by the fans. No matter how he acts, being hated like that by so many people for so long can’t be a nice experience

Kyle, after watching his brother make a ton of mistakes and learn from them, has matured a bunch, and looks to be trying to be a better man because of it. It’s crazy to not see Kyle as NASCAR’s villian
