Want to clarify with everyone that NASCAR is *NOT* going electric anytime soon. This is purely a concept car. They’re also completely aware that removing the sound of the V8 would pretty much end the sport, which is why they’re looking into other technologies to keep that sound. Don’t overreact, they’re not gonna go electric now.

I’m done! I won’t watch that show abomination at “The Coliseum”. It’s an embarrassment.

The sport, in my opinion, has been fading due to abandoning its core base.

Switching to EV or Hydrogen will simply hasten its demise.

Yea, this may be the beginning of the end to the Great NASCAR. Man I love nascar but big companies keep making decisions to make the 1 percent happy and they will loose a lot, a lot, a lot of money bc of this. Doesn’t matter that it’s not changing anytime soon, it shows that they are considering it. Hybrid would have been a better move, the years and years later maybe go to it. But like this, it’s just stupid

The problem with hydrogen is storage once it’s in the car if it could be a requirement for tracks to have a hydrogen station on site then it might create some year round revenue

Imagine if the fuel cell gets a cut and a spark ignites it. Say bye bye to that driver.
It would create a great skeptical to see and hope it’s not near spectaculars close to the track.

The hydrogen powered cars from Japan race in the Super Taikyu series; they stream live on YT if anypony is interested. On a larger note, the Super GT Championship in Japan have very fast and very loud cars that actually use a synthetic fuel…basically fuel that isn’t sourced from fossil fuels yet an internal combustion engine can process like traditional fuel. Porsche is also working on a synthetic fuel. The United States need to realize that there’s more options than just throwing a big ole battery at it………and making it worse by pumping in fake sound…. ☠

Thank you for posting this! Hydrogen and/or synthetic fuels are much more practical than electric. Mercedes F1 is working with the airline industries on synth fuels.

Out of Jimmie Johnson,David Ragan,Antony Alfredo, BJ mcleod and kaz grala.

I would say that Jimmie Johnson and David Ragan have a real good shot at winning the Daytona 500.
Specially with legacy motor club now with Toyota. I’m expecting to see more speed out of them this year.
And for David Ragan. If he gets some help from his teammates. He could be a real threat. We all know how good RFK is on super speedway’s. If Ragan gets in that ford train. He’s most likely going to go for it.

If you are only allowed 2 back up cars, the four car teams would be hard to wrap the cars when you wouldn’t know which team needed the backup.

Reply
@TyeWills January 25, 2024 at 1:58 am

Backup cars haven’t been wrapped for years until they figure out what team needs it. Then they wrap it in the garage.

I took the “No Wrap Rule” as the car(s) had to be unwrapped on the hauler – but if called into service, they can be wrapped for the race.
I could be wrong, I dunno.

Reply
@johnhaas2523 January 25, 2024 at 12:50 am

It’s going to look like the Hendrick Motorsports back of cars aka a blank wrap and teams will put decals on the car. For junior Motorsports it’s a black wrap So that means you would see if Brandon Jones needs to go to backup car you would see a black Menards car

Reply
@nickhowser7262 January 25, 2024 at 1:26 am

Yeah I think it’s unwrapped so for instance you have a 4 car team and 2 guys wreck in practice or something you can just throw whoever’s wrap on that or those cars. They wouldn’t be sponsor less cars going around the track when a sponsor paid to be on the car at a race.

@thecheese302 January 25, 2024 at 3:51 am

This. bring non wrapped cars. need a backup, wrap the car in appropriate scheme during setup. Are any cars in xfinity still painted?

Practicing and qualifying in groups is totally pointless. They could do a normal happy hour practice and normal qualifying in the same amount if time.

That livery for Noah is super underrated. Every single car out on the track will look like various skittle flavors. Noah will stand out more than anyone else because his will be grey. Super smart move IMO and the underlying design is a nice touch.

The no wrap backup cars make sense. The 4-car dale jr team can bring 2 backup cars for their 4 teams. If they have them wrapped for the 1 and 7, and the 8 car wrecks, they’d have no car for the 8 to race. By not wrapping them, no matter what team wrecks, they can use the backup.

I believe the nascar electric cars will be for a winter stadium series of 3-5 weekends even being able to race indoors which could be neat

Reply
@Jeffgordon24everfan January 25, 2024 at 2:53 am

I think a likely scenario for all electric would be a new, 4th series of nascar equivalent to Formula E (although hopefully better run than that monstrosity of a series). You could run it as a support series to cup so manufacturers can get audience eyes on it. You could also make this a play-around series where you loosen the rule books a bit and let the team engineers be creative. This may attract your fan that’s more in it for the ingenuity as well as attract additional manufacturers. Best part is you maintain the integrity of your cash cow; the cup series
