It’s really not NASCAR’s fault. It’s really Toyota who keeps saying no to more hp. Chevy and Ford both have no problem whatsoever bumping it up. It’s Toyota who says ehhh no
With all of these changes, legacy motor club is definitely a top 5 headline entering this season… Eric you should do a video talking about the major storylines entering the 2024 season
LMC is gonna be a big question mark, they made some big splashes in the driver market, sponsors and people working to help the drivers, but how they preform is up in the air. I think they should have at least one driver in the top 20 either jhn or Erik jones. Hope they win at least one race
First of all, I will admit I am a Ford guy. Looking at the 2024 season I see a dominance of Chevy. Don’t ask me why but I think this is the Camaro’s swan song and a season of dominance
I would love to see maybe about 805 horsepower. That is about 135 more horsepower over the 670 horsepower that the NASCAR cup series race cars have right now.
I wasn’t much of a nascar fan back in the mid 80s because I worked most every Sunday, that being said I’d love to see it where 200 mph qualifying laps at daytona and Talladega were back in play and these cars racing between 195 and 200mph. Nascar making all these changes to make the cars go slower is a bunch of BS and its hard to believe the teams put up with this nonsense. It’s called auto RACING for a reason and let the teams spend whatever they want. It’s almost like watching IROC in a way where Rick Ware racing and Front row can keep up with the big boys of the sport. NASCAR is not saving the teams money so what are they accomplishing by the rules package now in place? I’d say not much other than having more fans leaving the sport when it’s newest dumb idea Doesn’t work. Nascar needs the get their Knee of the engine builders neck and see just how fast the next gen can go. Want to see a bump in viewer ship on TV and more butts in the stands advertise the restrictor plates are coming off Nascar will return to its grass roots pre 1987
You are right, NASCAR is not saving the teams money. When you have to pay around $400,000.00 for a car before you drop the motor in it, that is not cheap.
I believe they are buying their cars from a company called ILMORE in Michigan and any replacements parts I believe must be bought from them too. I was told this though a friend, who is a friend of a current Cup Crew Chief back in 2021 when they were switching from Stock cars to Trans-am cars/Indy cars/ hybrid cars that was coming in 2022. This source is still a Crew Chief for the same team. What do you wanna bet that NASCAR has a stake in the company in Michigan?
Increasing horsepower would not cause a need for a major redesign of the car. At short tracks and road courses, it would do very little other than increase the length of the braking zones and at the intermediates, all they’d have to do use a lower down force package, like the one they already use at the short tracks and road courses so that the cars would have to slow down more in the corners. It’s just another excuse…
Yes it would require a design change At least to the drivetrain I don’t know if there’s even a transaxle that can support 900 horsepower or more nevertheless the sequential gearbox.
I disagree with you about the road course races in 2023 I thought they were worse overall compared to 2022. Chicago was good (because of SVG) but other than that I thought the rest were snoozers. In 2022 COTA was epic and Watkins Glen had an exciting finish, Roval had Bell coming through the field to win the race and advance to the Round of 8 that season.
SHR has done more than just a logo change a lot of it’s behind the scenes like the way they do things and working together more. I think all 4 drivers are at the shop pretty much every day and maybe Cole and Riley also. It’s been reported that Noah is basically at the shop every day becides working out like getting his hands dirty and learning more about the cars than some drivers will ever know. Even been reported that Tony has been at the shop lately more often
Next week I’m going to a Nitrocross race. It looks like a cool racing series, but the main thing I’m looking forward to (other than the fact that it’s practically in my back yard) is 1000HP EVs racing on ice. Note that horsepower number. Has NASCAR ever gone to 1000HP?
what people often forget is, in 2018, chevy came out with the new camaro and was pathetically slow to begin with. they did get their crap together in the second half of the season but that’s worth noting because chevy in 2023 can do what ford & toyota did in 2018 and DEMOLISH the opposition.
don’t be surprised if we see history repeat in the new campaign.
The huge HP Tyler talked about is because of the larger tire. Yates stated 100hp is possible with very minimal changes. Essentially ot sounded like reprogramming the ECM
I do not get why it is so hard to throw on softer and skinnier tires for the road courses and short tracks. We see on the road courses when the drivers have the grooved tires that wear out there is great racing and pit strategy. Chicago was fantastic at the end because of the tire wear off and what a talented driver could do pushing through that.

Toyota: More horsepower.
Ford: More horsepower.
GM: More horsepower.
Drivers: More horsepower.
Fans: More horsepower.
NASCAR: mmmm aero
Fans: More Horsepower!
Nascar: *tests everything else in the existence of the world expect more horsepower*
What if, high power, and high downforce?
It’s obvious that those in NASCAR leadership, especially Steve phelps, have an ignorance level that is only rivaled by their incompetence!
@@turbo_marclike the Gen 4s? Yes please!

When manufacturers talk, usually nascar listens more. Maybe there’s some hope for more horsepower yet. Doubtful, but still…

I have a sponer
Try spelling correctly, it’s spelled sponsor…
@@truckercowboyed2638 i type really fast and don’t look
It’s incredibly frustrating that nascar changes rules after new designs were submitted. F1 gives teams a BIG heads up for rules changes.
The new designs were submitted last year or late 2022

I guess you could say they’re sticking with the tried and true.

No, that IS 135 more horsepower, not about. Do you not know how math works?
Great channel great content keep it up Eric. Hope you get a lot more subscribers this year.

Glad to see Legacy becoming a great ran organization.
They will be better than shr this season!
Lets not forget why we started lowering hp. Toyota made way more hp with less failures than chevy and ford during the 950 hp era

Legacy is making big moves all off season to improve.
SHR got a new logo and called everyone haters.
I think I know where I’ll be expecting improvement

The xfinity series is proof that you can have great racing without a lot of horsepower
