NASCAR played favorites. Same thing happened to Regan Smith and his pass was illegal. Why wasn’t Dale’s? Oh that’s right his fans will start throwing beer cans.
Right call, he pulled the car below the line as Kenseth drifted towards him during the pass. He definitely did not dive down too early. Awesome win with a worn out car. So good.
People may not say he was forced, but I believe he was. You have to make split second decisions to prevent yourself from not wrecking. So Jr won’t know how far down Kenseth will go.
Look at the film the 17 moves down the 38 bumps the 8 both all the cars wiggle bumped and moved out the way due to both the 8 and 17 Are damaged badly so no and it was a split sec so no jr won fair and square
Ofc it was legal. While debatable, he was clearly at least to the corner panel of Kenseth (or in other words “in the act of passing”) as Kenseth was coming down to block, forcing him under the line
I forgot his name already, but didnt one dude pass the yellow line rule when he was avoiding a crash? I wanna say that was robby gordon but i dont remember.
But nascar penalized that guy. Personally the yellow line is stupid and they should be able to use it.
Totally legal. Just like in football with a gunner on kickoffs or punt returns. If you intentionally run out of bounds to avoid a blocker it’s illegal but if you are forced out of bounds by the blocker as long as you make a legit effort to come back in bounds and reestablish yourself as being in bounds it’s legal. Junior was forced below the yellow line and as soon as it was safe to move back above it he did and completed the pass. Now If he had just stayed down that’s different. Again using football, if the gunner is forced out of bounds he can’t just stay out of bounds, run halfway down the field with nothing preventing him coming back and then come back to make the tackle.
Right call. It was a natural reaction to move away from Kenseths car which moved down a little. At those speeds and those proximities of motor car it was probably survival instinct rather than a conscious decision.

He was forced down

So long as the midline PF the car didn’t pass it and as he was being corralled by Kenseth
Harvick has 61 wins not 60

Totally legal! Kenseth sould have been blackflagged for forcing someone under the yellow line
Nobody remembers fall talladega 08 same thing
Not really. Jr. still had room on the track; Tony Stewart did force Regan Smith below the line.
Ask Regan Smith if thinks that was legal.

I couldn’t care less.
Earnhardt privilege
Cry
It wouldn’t have been legal if Regan Smith had done it.
He definitely went under AFTER he passed. A loophole? Absolutely, but still legal.

Illegal, Jr should have been black flagged that day, but NASCAR is nepotistic in nature.

If it was to happen today to anyone but Jr this is an illegal pass.
