The 2024 NASCAR season is officially starting as NASCAR had an impromptu kickoff with the L.A. Clash at the Coliseum on Saturday night. While not the ultimate start to a season that many (including NASCAR) would have hoped there were takeaways to the event both for its future and the upcoming season. So today we are going to look at five of these themes. These are 5 things we learned from the 2024 L.A. Clash.

What did you take outta the 2024 Clash?
Better than cancelled mgk music performance ever.
Nascar needs to race in Mississippi or Arkansas and stop chasing markets that don’t care about them.
@@usleadershipareliarsI think NASCAR should have a actual track here in Oklahoma.
Fewer cars on the track made the racing almost like a real race.
@@usleadershipareliarsCalifornia’s been in NASCAR’s sights since they formed. The first France has been eyeing it when he went to Gardena in the 50s. No way are they gonna leave it now, especially after the F1 fiasco
1: he beat our favorite driver again
William Byron refuses to run a lap outside of the top 10 in a stadium race, he is 11th-23rd places father
When Mother Nature comes into play, It’s best to get the event over and done with when Weather Isn’t a Problem before getting beat to the punch
About international races
This weeks fan council survey had a question about what region we would like to see a race
Regions were North America, South America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and West Asia/Australia
4 of those regions aren’t interested in NASCAR, let alone racing
@@S.K.R.E.Inc.how would you know?
@@S.K.R.E.Inc. South America likely is Brazil, the sport is so popular here that got its own series
Indycar raced here a few times and every time the event was a sucess
If this was the last Clash, it was a good run, and the races were very fun to watch. I attended all three of them and let me tell you they were the most fun races I’ve gone to because they’re unique and cool in real life. I hope they can do it again but I doubt it since the contract may end soon.
NASCAR’s not giving up SoCal to F1, especially after that Chicago fiasco. Also, TexTucky hasn’t even started laying blueprints for the conversion. So either it gets renewed (1-2 year extension, give or take), or it goes to Long Beach to directly compete with F1 in a points race of their own. But they sure as hell aren’t leaving the SoCal scene, not after so many attempts
If Nascar is committed to an Exhibition Clash then I would welcome turning it into a rotating International event. It would make it unique something that Daytona just doesn’t provide, you’d hopefully get good turnout as it’s only a one time deal and logistically it helps not having to ship 36 racecars and equipment to far off places.
Glad to see it was Saturday race instead of a Sunday race nobody likes rain delays. Nascar been talking for years about going international The Clash would be the perfect the race to do it with. Mexico next year and Canada the following year.
Mexico deserves a POINTS race, not exhibition. Same with Montreal, Canada. Also, the Clash in February up north is not ideal. Freeze, snow, and crazy Canuck fans rioting whenever their team loses a hockey game. Not a good time
I’m an advocate for running the clash in Mexico. I think they start with Mexico City next year at the local Mexico NASCAR track – Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. F1 races there on the road course, NASCAR Mexico races there and Xfinity has raced there in the past, it should be a quality facility, and it supports a few road course configurations and a 1-mile oval. If it is well received, they go back annually and move the event around the country. If it’s not a winner, then back to the drawing board. Also, as you point out, it is closer to NC than LA is. They may need an extra travel day to deal with customs, but that can be worked out.
Either that or the street circuit that F1 uses. Given the response by the fans that stayed, there’s a path to a POINTS race in Mexico. I don’t see it hosting exhibition, especially after what Suarez went through in the Clash. Let Canada go exhibition, Mexico gets a points race and beats F1 at their own game
Lets GO!!! Starting the season the best way possible!!
This may seem counter intuitive, but I think the way NASCAR handled this situation, at least getting The Clash in before the storms hit the LA area, makes NASCAR look better at handling weather situations than F1. Take the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, the race Jules Bianchi lost his life. There was time to run the race before the torrential rain associated with the Typhoon hitting the area could have affected the race. However, they decided to wait until the official start time and sure enough, the torrential rain hit
I love the Mexico idea and Rock idea. The coliseum ran its course.
When it comes to NASCAR going to Mexico City, I think it is a good move especially considering the fact that the Xfinity Series ran a few races there in the mid 2000’s to good sized crowds. NASCAR might be able to move up the Clash to mid January to give the teams more time to prepare for Daytona if they do go to Mexico City because of the high possibility that Formula E will likely not be returning there for their season opener in 2025 in favor of a race in Qatar, Singapore or at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi instead.
And don’t forget the 2 Japanese races NASCAR did .
I only heard it had been ran already, when Sunday came.I only search entertainment when it’s scheduled, but NASCAR made a good call, should’ve been ahead of it the previous Tuesday.
The Gibbs Racing vs Penske, has been one of the best rivalries in NASCAR.
Kudos to NASCAR for a change
They made the right call obviously and thankfully we got the race in
The Clash should go back to Daytona, however, I am going with Slapshoes idea of using Daytona backstretch as a temporary short track.
First person that has talked about the Mexico Series in the Clash,
Thanks
Got lots of footage from the races on Saturday and am sending them to the Philippines rn. Don’t know if Eagle Broadcasting will want an article thanks to the 300-450 pictures I took of The Clash and La Batalla, but I will need to make something witty and interesting about both races. I definitely saw the Mexico series as the better race on Saturday, but now I for sure definitely want to participate in doing NASCAR media coverage again. I just hope Fontana can be finished faster, since Eagle Broadcasting and NET25 are simply doing what CBS was doing on NASCAR before 1979. Going to whatever event is nearby.
Especially now, I see Denny now as modern version of prime DW (without the titles though)
