I like both F1 and NASCAR but i think NASCAR will forever be more popular in the US as it has been instilled in American culture for over 75 years while f1 comes and goes every 10 years.

F1 lost its popularity in the US when they screwed up at Indy in 2005 with the stupid Michelen-Bridgestone tire war.

Even though I do like nascar more, I will admit that f1 does a very good job appealing to a younger audience, even in America.

F1.. follow the leader, no passing, team orders, gimmicks. Max wins, and the real race is for 2nd. You know ive been told by an F1 die hard, that there is more to racing than overtakes LMFAO!

I think Talladega is a Crown Jewel, it is a race that attracts your common fans because of the restrictor plate racing and speed!

@@bobjenkins884I agree Watkins Glen is just such a special occasion for NASCAR. I love Sonoma, been there half a dozen times, but the prestige of racing at the Glen >>> Hot dry brown hillside with stone seats

They’re trying to test rain tires on bristol but they will only use the tires when there’s barely any water on the track anyway so they’re only worth something for about 5 laps before you come in for slicks,

Crown Jewels you have to follow the Winston million:; Daytona., Dega 600 brickyard and southern 500.

Unless F1 decides to cut the cost of admission, it will never fully catch on in the us.

Here in Chicagoland we saw a potential track layout for F1, and it was south of where the NASCAR track is, and in the Museum campus and Soldier Field area. I’ll believe it when I see it.

There’s a reason why Bristol is a fan favorite. So much history and iconic moments. The classic beating and banging. The last great Coliseum. I’ve said it for years that Bristol should be considered a crown jewel race.

Not with how SMI mismanaged it. The Bristol of old was the last great colosseum. The current is a shallow copy wannabe

I am a huge race fan and I live in Las Vegas. I say let Chicago have the Las Vegas F1 race. What a cluster eff before, during and after the event. Unless you’re a hotel/casino owner this was a royal PIA. The small businesses around the track suffered for months and some still are because they are STILL removing track barriers. Traffic here is already a mess and the F1 race just adds to the chaos. The average Joe can’t afford F1 tickets. Let Chicago deal with it.

Honestly I like that NASCAR is testing rain tires/wet weather tires on short ovals, I believe it could definitely be revolutionary to short track racing if done right. Especially now doing it with Bristol cause of how many times it rains in Bristol when NASCAR comes to town. It’s quite the interesting idea and it’s very beneficial. The only problem I have is how NASCAR has handled it. They want to run it in damp conditions which is fine, the problem is you’re talking 36 cars max on a half mile to 1 mile tracks and a 1/4 mile stadium. A dry line is gonna form rapidly when ya got cars driving constantly in 1-2 lines. Take Martinsville for example. Ran the first time in the rain there in the Truck race and the racing line was dry after 3-5 laps in damp conditions. There was barely any spray to say so. North Wilkesboro was able to stay a little more wet cause of the old pavement with all the seams trapping water.

Also NASCAR can we stop calling it a “wet weather tire” it’s an intermediate tire! Rain tire/wet weather tire, it’s both the term for rain tires in general. An intermediate tire, which is what these tires r, r tires meant for wet conditions but not for a completely wet track. Anyone would know this from other motorsports.

Open wheel racing: Intermediate and Wets.
Sports car racing: some series having Intermediates and Wets and others just Wets.
NASCAR: rAiN tIrEs and wEt wEaThEr tIrEs.

Still coolest race I’d seen on a Nascar track was Danica Patrick’s first race in an Indy car at Richmond International Racetrack …..
Indy cars on that track was insane racing like you can’t imagine….very cool
