He gave Dodge their first win in 2001 at Michigan.

No, it was Dodges first win since the 70s. They left NASCAR for awhile & returned in 2001

Seeing this pop up on my youtube front page made my heart sink. Thankfully he is still around.

It’s easy for people to forget that Sterling was the teammate to Kenny Irwin Jr who lost his life in Loudon in July 2000.

This was my era of watching the sport but the Earnhardt crash ended his career

The problem was that many people blamed him for that crash. It wasn’t.

@@susanwahl6322 our heart felt thoughts went out to Kenny Schrader and Sterling Marlin after the 2001 Daytona 500. Well, most of us who realized that it was a racing incident. I believe that their memories of what happened were more felt than anyone else’s entering Rockingham spring 2001.

I won’t ever forget good ol’ Sterling Marlin. I didn’t like him when he had Coors Light on his car, but I loved him as a Tennessee native.

Cool video. I was watching that race. Watched a video on that exhaust from Morgan McClure.
Remember watching him get out of the car pulling in the right front fender at Daytona

Sterling Marlin may not have won the championship and won only several races, but he was certainly one of the best in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Practically a legend since he pulled of the rare feat of back to back Daytona 500 wins. I didn’t support him when he drove with the beer sponsor, so I was glad when he got into the #14 Waste Management car. I was unaware that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Mr. Marlin, if you’re reading this, I just prayed for you. If you need help with anything involving it and even complete healing from it, keep your faith in the Lord Jesus and trust in Him. As the prophet Isaiah said of Him, “… the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5). My best wishes to you sir.

I was happy to see this on Sterling Marlin. He was my favorite driver then and a few years later when I started racing my car was number 40.
