A week after the 1998 Daytona 500 a tornado outbreak happened in florida. A EF2 went thru the tracks parking lot
Dang Daytona got hit hard in 1998 with the wildfires also that same year.
I guess Daytona was pissed that it couldn’t deny Earnhardt anymore
The tornado won the Hurricane Cindy Tornado 500 presented by Oklahoma’s Tornado Alley.
And here I thought Kansas would be the one most affected by tornados.
I’m Crying because this was my first in person race.
Sat in those backstretch grandstands several times growing up. They used to have a grandstand in turn 3 also.
I live in the same county as Atlanta motor speedway and I didn’t even know this
They should host races on the same weekend. Why break away from Daytona’s tradition of planning it on known rainy seasons
