What caused the controversy to me was that Fox showed the angle at first with Bowman ahead and the caution light was on. Fox kinda shot themselves in foot by showing that as the very first image. I had an idea it was Byron anyway but maybe be careful what you show on tv in regard to the finish especially to the Daytona 500.
For the record I wanted “Slick” William Byron to win. But I agree with what you said. I’d also say that NASCAR didn’t help FOX by making sure they wouldn’t go and shoot themselves in the foot.
But the announcers also said that the caution lights had already been on at that point. They never said that it was the moment of caution.
What caused the controversy is that they, never, not ever, showed a camera angle of the leaders at the time of the caution, even though they likely have about a dozen such camera angles.
@@car83_ just gonna leave this hear, its at time that the button is pressed not when the flag man waives the yellow or when the lights come on. we have been through this before, the instant its pressed it is froze, what isnt instant is the time it takes for the green lights to cut off and cycle to yellow. we went over this in 21 with elliott getting “robbed” the same way. they sync that up with the cams. they dont worry bout flags or lights just that time stamp of the trigger.
@@austinwilson8012 Yeah, I think everybody knows the rules. Funny thing is that NASCAR put out a picture as evidence with Byron ahead and the caution light supposedly on. Yet we have not one piece of video. Somebody that was in the grassy knoll must have video.
One thing I will say, that penalty for Riley Herbst was very ticky tacky. The SHR 98 was imo the fastest car on the track. Other than that it was a good race that had too many wrecks in my opinion
I have to fully agree with you about that.
Man, this finish is going to take a while for me to come to terms with, I had a whole group of non nascar friends over to watch the 500 with me and they all though same as I did that it was dumb that they didn’t finish the last lap, and that two guys that seemed irrelevant the whole day wrecked half the field (accident or not) and won the race
why ??? there was literally a crash there and you can’t tell me there was no debris.. did you see all that stuff on the track when they were showing 24 when he won
Suarez started it all
@@thereaper9759 that first part about not finishing the lap, I don’t disagree with what nascar did or anything, I just don’t like that it happened in the first place
@InsaneCelery238 Lmao why so bothered over it.. its over and done
Who cares it doesn’t matter now ….@@InsaneCelery238
As a cindric fan, i clicked this at the speed of light instead of the regular speed of sound lol
I didn’t know Cindric fans existed. I’m pleasantly surprised.
@@oIRONITEo from Cindric’s xfinity campaign when he won a championship there are still some fans hanging on
@@KPKING_1 thanks!
Ain’t no way NASCAR immediately called a caution at the end of the Cup race but didn’t for the Xfinity race.
ikr? i thought that was dumb too
only reason I could think why they didn’t bring the caution out was because they were already on the backstretch, i hope it’s atleast a sign of things to come and they’ll let them race back more
I think they saw the feedback from cup, as well as the fact that no race that weekend had ended under green yet and kinda just let things run its course.
2 cars spin through the grass caution
Cars spin hit the wall fet tboned no caution. Makes total sense
Location matters
Shane should be proud of this finish, but Austin hill is insane
Not saying “Xfinity Stones” was a missed opportunity
It REALLY was.. I said it out loud as he mentioned the stones
Can’t wait to see how SVG does on intermediate tracks. I feel like those will be the real tester where we will see how good he is out of the gate in nascar
not gonna lie, even as a guy that generally like superspeedways, I’m already feeling SS burnout even before the Atlanta weekend starts
You made a mistake on your power ranking? You said “Chase finished 4th in the Daytona 500” he finished 14th.
Correct, I misspoke
Corey isn’t like his old man…..
Just a thought about Fox’s coverage of the race. It seemed I either got long camera shots where I could not identify cars, or in-car camera shots. It seemed that Fox did a better job of camera work and direction several years ago than at the Daytona 500 this week.
I hope Alex Bowman proves to all doubters they are wrong about him.
How long are we gonna give him to prove the doubters wrong? It’s not like he’s in his second or third season at some point you are what you are.
He has seven (eight?) Cup wins. He’s an established guy. Everybody has doubters.
My bbiggest issue with him is not him per say it’s how he has been in TWO People shadows first jr in the 88 then jimmy in 48 it to me screams that they dont have faith in him to be his own person and honestly i think ally is the only reason hendrick hasn’t given him the boot
@@oIRONITEoHe’s consistently a winner and playoff driver when healthy. He had a great 2022 playoff run ruined due to injury and had a great start last season ruined due to injury. Bro has also outperformed Byron their entire careers that they’ve been healthy so.
There shouldn’t be any excuses why he can’t go deep in the playoffs. He’s on best team in Nascar and he was the points leader before he got hurt last year. Hey it took William Byron six seasons to make the championship 4 and Alex is in his sixth season so maybe his could be his year.
No Chastain in the top 10 after coming from the back to the front multiple times and leading laps until the big one is crazy. One of the best in the field this wknd
He was robbed of the win. They blame him but they took em out.
He wasn’t included in the top 10 because he is not a top 10 driver. Anybody can “take a gap” that’s not there . Not to mention the big one that you mentioned…was caused by him.
@@fernandoarroyo3889 if there wasn’t a gap there then how did the front half of his car make it through without any contact? They all keep it straight if Lajoie isn’t pushing from below the yellow line
The answer is there was a massive gap. Two car widths when he made the move.
It’s a SuperSpeedway, the power rankings don’t even matter until they get past Las Vegas
If Bowman is 100% and healthy again, I would assume it won’t take him long to win
I think he’s gonna put a together a season with the consistency of 2020, and the wins of 2021
I assumed Byron won but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I kind of held out hope that they’d reverse it and say Bowman won. I feel like there’s a chance he was robbed, but they were both fast, and the consistently faster of the two ultimately won. I wish it would’ve stayed green but I still enjoyed the race as a whole and was happy with the winner lol
I don’t blame LaJoie for that wreck with 2 to go. It looked like he was trying to make a run, realized wasn’t enough room when cindric chopped him, and then Ross shot the gap made by cindric trying to chop Lojoie.
Cindric didn’t chop him. Lavoie was trying to force him out of the lane as soon as Cindric started leading the lane
I personally liked what Fox did with Larry Mac. Of course, he’s no longer in the main booth but he was used as what he does best. In the first stage he was using his knowledge to tell us about certain parts in the car.
There was a lot of people unhappy with Fox sports regarding Larry because he wasn’t able to stay to be the crew chief as originally planned for Jordan Anderson
