intimidator is a great coaster. up and down over and over, i love how many out of your seat moments it creates. sucks that they wont be able to keep the intimidator branding but such is life. it will always be the intimidator in my heart
I remember seeing that advertisement for the ride when I was a kid. It was my introduction to Dale Earnhardt, which speaks volumes about its impact. Sad to see the name go.
RCR Xfinity equipment is a step behind JRM/Gibbs on “normal” tracks, they’re clearly the top dogs at drafting but that’s only 5/33 races. When you look at Creed vs. Hill on those tracks it paints a different picture, Creed would run up front more but wouldn’t get the job done vs. Hill’s 2 non drafting wins coming from beating a rookie Chandler Smith burning his tires up at Vegas and Josh Berry throwing away the dominant car at Pocono.
I was in the boat of “Hill is just a superspeedway ace” until I saw a recent KB interview where he talked about early 2023, and how RCR had some advantages to their cars that NASCAR told them not to bring back. They definitely figured out something in Xfinity that either NASCAR hasn’t caught onto, or the other teams haven’t figured out.
There used to be a minor league baseball team called the Kannapolis Intimidators, as well. They are now called the Cannon Ballers but their logo features a… familiar mustache.
Man, huge respect to Creed for saying hey, another year goes by in different equipment and I still don’t have it, I’m done. If that is was all mid tier NASCAR drivers did, there would be a lot less Lawless Alans and Kris Wrights in the sport and more room for real talent
Creed is no where near lawless or Kris , I mean I understand what you mean , I’m a huge creed fan but yeah if he dosent either win once or top 5 half the season then yeah I see the validation in him not getting another top ride
@@tannerwilburn9203 Agree, but with the luck Austin has got, Sheldon could have easily 8 wins instead of 8 second place finishes. So he is there already just needs formal confirmation, that is real wins to show for.
She does but she’s probably asking a ton of money to renew the name since the license is coming to an end. It’s not worth it to the park to shell out millions of dollars for a name when they can just switch it to something that costs them nothing
As someone who lives next to Charlotte, it’s a bummer the intimidator is leaving… they had an Earnhardt cup car there with a plaque… wonder where those are going
As a coaster entusiast from germany that is looking into visiting america to do a coaster tour this is extremely sad. I 305 is absolutely legendary among entusiasts for it’s intensity and snappy transitions! While the layout will be the same, the experience won’t be without the “Gentleman start your engines”
I get Creeds thought process here. He knows JGR cars are top tier and he couldn’t really say that for RCR on a consistent basis. He wants to settle the “is it me” question for himself as soon as possible and I respect that. I think being content in his career is important to him. If he’s not, then he will find something else.
As a coaster enthusiast and NASCAR fan, I was happy I got to do the Carowinds Intimidator last year, but haven’t had the chance to do the other one yet. I even took a picture in front of the 3 car in the plaza.

As a former manager of the Intimidator rollercoaster in Kings Dominion, Dale Earnhardt Inc has made it near impossible for this ride to counties forward. All of are merchandise is 10+ years old because Dale Inc won’t approve any more merchandise items. Infact the intimidator store is now solely Kings Dominion Merchanidse and really only sells Dale Earnhardt shot glasses. Sad to see the intimidator go but teressa did it to herself
Eric, as a long time generational jarrett fan. Old school, working on your own car; you are the best with understanding history and applying in the new generation of racers
As King’s Dominion is just about two hours away from where I live, 305 was a HUGE deal when I was a teenager in 2010; it was all over the local radio and TV networks around the DC beltway when it first opened. You could easily wait up to an hour just to ride the front row seat the first few years, but boy was it worth it. Many a time would I came close to ( if not actually) blacking out after the big drop. Fast and sharply-banked, yet smooth at the same time. Going to miss that theming when I visit there next.
Didn’t know Eric was a coaster enthusiast, too! Intimidator 305 when it opened was something I will never forget. The Carowinds ride is really solid too.
I live right near Kings Dominion where the Intimidator is (VA). It’s sick, when I was a kid, it was the biggest baddest coaster at the park, and it lived up to the hype. My dad blacked out on it!

What’s really cool is it has 7 hills, one for each championship Dale won.

That’s how I see it too

Thats called running out of talent lmaoo
Lets see if 2024 is different. Austin Hill is good all around driver, but I’m the Creed believer, I think Creed has more talent.

I was a big fan until the renaming.
I have a hat of the team
I have the #2 Kerry Earnhardt 1/64 diecast of the Kannapolis Intimidators.
Think it’s from 2001 maybe, might have been an ARCA car.
I was a fan too until name changed
They had to change the name due to licensing issues with the estate.

Don’t she get money off the license?
She does but she’s probably asking a ton of money to renew the name since the license is coming to an end. It’s not worth it to the park to shell out millions of dollars for a name when they can just switch it to something that costs them nothing
Intimidator 305 at kings dominion was a great ride
I wish I knew about the Dale roller coaster. Would have loved to go and get a picture with that.

0:30 “You’re moving into a land of both passing and drafting, of cars and drivers. You’ve just crossed over into… the Groovy Zone.

Has there been a driver who raced for Gibbs in Xfinity, wasn’t that great and still made it to Cup?
@@kg0173Matt Dibenedetto.
I know people will fight me on this, but the 2008-2010 JGR benchmark was Joey Logano, and well, Matt’s kinda weak by comparison.

I’ll have to ride them both eventually despite the rebrand
