It means that amazon really means business. Now they need a tried and tested Play by Play and a Crew Chief to Look at the technical side. Maybe they snatch Steve Letarte from NBC too?

I’m not a Dale Jr fan my any means but that’s the worst move that NBC has done since replacing Allen Bestwick with Bill Webber in 2005.

Reply
@BogLoud February 29, 2024 at 6:21 pm

Bill Weber replaced Bestwick because Bestwick had a leg injury

Listen I got mad at Dale Jr., last year and was a bit frustrated at him, But I agree with Jaret this is the worst move that NBC has done since basically by the news story from 2006 of calling us fans racist courtesy of Dateline. That was really stupid from them, and I can’t forgive that years, later, But also I was only in my early teens when that happened. But I can also see that when they swapped places between AB and Bill Weber that was controversial. Even though they still worked there despite that.

@gnnascarfan2410 February 29, 2024 at 7:28 pm

@@BogLoud Partially true. That happened late in 2004, Bestwick came back to the booth for the final 3 races in 2004 and THEN the change was made.

@stephenholloway6893 February 29, 2024 at 8:40 pm

Bill filled in for 2 races in 2004 while Allen recovered from his injury, but then in 2005, they made it permanent.

@adammartin5809 February 29, 2024 at 10:47 pm

Bil Weber was the worst.

To be fair, NBC puts more races on cable in the most important races (playoffs) instead on free tv.

Not with those high rates they charge. 20 bucks for Prime MONTHLY??!! That’s almost 240 YEARLY! No way anyone’s gonna fork over that cash

@nevadadan4113 February 29, 2024 at 6:33 pm

Great news for Jr, but bullshit that Amazon Prime is taking over for five races in 2025. Very similar to the most recent NFL season, where you had to have a subscription to see the Thursday night games. I can afford it but some people can’t.

Reply
@Evan_Moore61 February 29, 2024 at 6:44 pm

I agree. I will be relying on my mom’s Prime subscription to be watching those races. I can afford it, but I’m not going to spend my money on Amazon Prime just to watch five races.

Reply
@AlanMuccioli February 29, 2024 at 6:59 pm

Actually, you can watch all the games that are streamed on Amazon Prime through the Prime Twitch channel (since Twitch is owned by Amazon) and Twitch is free to sign up for. Granted, the Twitch feed might be behind the actual feed, but I’m gonna be putting my stamp down that it’s gonna be the same way with NASCAR as well. They’d be *foolish* not to do that.

Reply
@justinturley7071 February 29, 2024 at 6:59 pm

Junior’s a knowledgeable historian and a savvy businessman for sure. But a lot of credit for his forward thinking in media and his financial acumen has to go to Kelley Earnhardt and Mike Davis.

Whatever is best for Dale is the way to go, NBC’s loyalty is that of Hyenas. Dale Alone is the sole judge of what’s best for him and family.
