IndyCar is screwed if Honda leaves
Indycar can’t stop shooting itself in the foot. Anytime they take a couple steps forward, they do something to negate it.
Nah. Someone will step up. Probably Toyota.
As an Indycar fan in addition to NASCAR, I agree 100% with you, especially since Indycar will effectively become a spec series with Chevy engines & Dallara chassis. Then there is the whole immeadate issue of the TV contract for Indycar which is set to expire at the end of this season. Since NBC paid a ton of money to renew their portion of the NASCAR rights, they are likely not going to pay what Indycar is asking to renew them since they need to save money in order to make a bid to regain the NBA next year. Compared to NASCAR, Indycar has lower ratings & brings in significantly less revenue for NBC (with the one outlier being the Indy 500). If Indycar & NBC part ways at the end of this season there is the danger that Indycar won’t have its races broadcast next season since apart from a crazy bid from Fox, no other broadcaster would be willing to pay what Indycar is asking for. Not a good time to be an Indycar fan.
@@chrisguardiano6143 indycar is already technically a “spec” series though right?
@@benmorris6831pretty sure Toyota said they weren’t interested in losing money, last fall
I’m gonna miss Dale Jr on NBC. Let’s hope he could either join TNT of Amazon In 2025
I think reports are him going to prime.
306 days left till 2025.
Dale Jr. The mike joy of prime television here.
I am not….Hope he starts announcing the RUBBER DUCKIE RACES.
i love a good rheem job
It would be Ruud if you didn’t!

Is that an
“American Standard”?
@@ncinteriorsplus3520 No, just a Trane!
@@ncinteriorsplus3520 Nah, it’s just a Choo Choo Trane
What can I say, I know the future. Jokes aside even when it was rumored that Amazon was interested this was a no brainer. Amazon has deep pockets, Dale Jr is the most influential guy in nascar, it’s a slam dunk.
This will be a bust. Not all fans have streaming services watch the viewership decline. I been a fan for 30+ years and i will miss half of the races won’t be on in bars restaurants ect nascar has lost a lot of old school fans
Nah u will miss 6 races
@jonnyhung2576 yup… Me and my friends don’t stream. So I’ll no longer be watching after it goes streaming
@@Bigkillawardhow can u not stream? How is that even possible
@@Bigkillawardget with the times. Lmao
Dale Jr leaving NBC is like Alan Bestwick leaving nascar entirely it’s going to be a big loss in the NBC booth for sure
What a stupid/strange move for NBC to make to cut Dale freakin’ Earnhardt, what are they thinking.
NBC I still remember them when a race ran over its time they wet to there next programming
man… i’m genuinely gonna miss my heart skipping a beat to whenever dale says “OHHHHH WE GOT A CRASH” for at least this year
I can hear it in my minds ear right now
Ohh we got a
C R A S H
Jr. was often far ahead of the curve when it came to action outside the top 10, he recently talked about the need for him to be at the track so he could feel the fan and race energy and see the whole picture. Easily one of the best at calling the race live in this era.
SLIDEEE JOBB!
Dumb…he is just a man.
Hoping Allen Bestwick will be the lead commentator for Amazon and/or TNT. A Bestwick-Dale Jr-(fill in the blank for person #3) would be awesome!
I wonder who will broadcast the xfinity series races next year on cw!
Marty Smith Jr. He was AWESOME A d him and Jr would feed of each other. Imho !!
@@Tow_Sr.Negative….Marty Smith sucks…..Alan Bestwick is one of the best booth color commentators
@@alanjohnson911 i think Alan should be the # 1 guy. And Jr and Smith as the color commentators , he definitely couldn’t be the Head announcer
Would love it if NBC brought Kurt Busch on the broadcast
That would be awesome!
I agree about Kurt. I wasn’t a Kurt Busch fan when he raced but I’ve enjoyed hearing his commentary when he works the booth.
Not a bad idea, although NBC does not need a four-man booth (it only worked because NBC couldn’t pass up obtaining the services of Dale Jr).
I just posted that. I think Kurt is the one guy they could bring in, that would be really good in that job.
The fact that a fully Andretti Spire buyout and deal with Honda is possible is nutty
Amazon and Turner NEED to get Allen Bestwick signed NOW! And hopefully Jamie McMurray too
Great idea.
There is no turner It’s called Warner Bros Discovery
Jamie Mac is great in the booth.
@@johnhaas2523Warner Bros Discovery owns Turner……
nailed my thoughts.
Damn, NBC won’t be the same. I like Jr calling it
I’m in a wait and see on Honda to Nascar but I do like the idea of another OEM.
Oh yeah, Jr and Alan Bestwick for Amazon that would be a dream team
If we get a fourth manufacturer in NASCAR, we need 40 to 42 car fields. 36-37 cars is not enough for four manufacturers. We need bigger fields with more manufacturers.
I bet a big paycheck and backing from a new manufacturer could convince current teams to switch brands. It’s happened before.
I think that is why they are courting Honda. Money and Andretti.
@@dragonboss88all depends on if Honda will go all in like Toyota. Toyota didn’t half step. They came all in spent more than anyone to get where they are now
@@Shawn-Leider I agree. Just like Toyota, Honda would have to design and build a pushrod engine to be able to compete in NASCAR.
Chevy will probably be gone by the time Honda would join. So it will take it back to 3 manufacturers
Honda’s recent statements on IndyCar are not promising for their future in IndyCar. They have stated a lack of return on investment and basically zero innovation as reasons for waning interest. They even proposed a series wide spec engine built by Ilmor with Honda and Chevy providing brand badging and engine controls. Honda has one foot out the door on IndyCar and if they fail to shake things up they are not going to renew.
It would require a large investment to enter NASCAR, but Honda is not shy about a large investment if they see value coming back.
I just hope that when they do get in, they’re all in similar to their rivals in Toyota
Nascar teams haven’t seen a profit in years.
@@dagger_rcn260 What has that got to do with Honda entering NASCAR? Honda would be looking to get a return on investment from advertising in the sport through sponsorship, whether or not a team running Honda cars makes a profit would not really matter to them.
@@eteocles4452 I’m all for it. Just saying
@@dagger_rcn260 Hendrick, Gibbs, Penske, Childress haven’t seen a profit? And, among newer teams, do you think Justin Marks / Trackhouse continue to invest more and more into the sport in order to lose profit?
If a fourth manufacturer comes into nascar should nascar return to a 43 car field ?
Probably
Yes and Maybe. Probably.
Not until they can regularly fill the 40-car max field in Cup and most, if not every week able to send at least one car home/DNQ aside from just the 500. However, if Honda does indeed join NASCAR, I think you’ll definitely see more teams and competition try to join and want to run races.
The one thing I am hoping for with Amazon and Max getting invovled is hoping we FINALLY get quality 4k broadcasts (since cable boxes are still limited to 1080)
That won’t be an issue since Amazon and Max is not cableTV.
@dragonboss88 Thats my point, but Im saying quality. It still depends on the broadcast signal, cameras, and formatting.
doubt they’ll broadcast in 4k. NFL doesn’t, and they’re several years away from justifying it. the Super Bowl is the exception, and well, the cost is justified.
@94nolo Its just crazy to me, that all these 4k tvs and even 8k and theres no native 4k broadcasts despite the bandwith being available to broadcast, especially with more dedicated sat coverage.
I’ve heard the Honda to Nascar rumor for the last 20 years, wake me when they have a formal announcement.
Wow NBC really dropped the ball. Should’ve listened to Dale and his advice for broadcasting the race
I admit, i was never a fan of jr. when he was driving, but all the great things he has done for the sport, im a huge jr. and jrm fan. Thanks Jr for all you do for the sport!!
