Let’s be honest we want tire wear, but not that much

I liked it. The tire wear made the race super fun to watch!

I think the tires just need more fall off before the cords start showing. Like make the tire in two or more layers with a soft compound layer on the outside and a hard compound layer on the inside. The soft layer will be fast but once it gets to the harder layer the pace will slow down while being more resilient and less likely to wear to cords before it’s better to go ahead and change the tires.

tire conservation races like this would be cool, but not as much as this

This race was not good. They were riding around the track at half pace for the majority of the time. And even with that they were cording tires after 40 laps. That was not a tire conservation race it was a 2008 Indy disaster that the media is pretending was good.

Not just the media, but a lot of Youtubers thought it was a good race too. I’m in the same zone as you I thought it wasn’t that great of a race, there wasn’t that many battles aside from restarts in front of the field lead changes. Everyone was worried about their wear that it took away from actual battles. Plus the last 150 laps were just boring. Even some of the drivers didn’t like it too much either. Drivers were more focused on that they actually racing each other that’s not NASCAR that’s parity trying to get views and make it look better when it’s bad.

There was some good battles don’t get me wrong, but majority of the battles came in the front of the field when the lead changed 54 times, or restarts but once they spread it out, it was hard to really pass each other because of the wear. It was exciting, but everyone was focused on not wearing up their tires. Too much tire Wear isnt a good thing, it takes away from the actual racing and battles. The race was ok, but in my opinion, it’s not as great as everyone thinks. Even some of the drivers like Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, Elliot and others didn’t like the race because of the wear. I guess it’s better than it raining.

This car happen at every short track if we just use soft tires, NASCAR has used pretty hard compound tires in the past decade or so because they didn’t want races like Bristol to happen and it’s hurt the racing product by making tire wear nearly irrelevant and pushing aero platform of the cars to the forefront of what makes a good setup, this is the kind of thing we need to push towards, although I would prefer the tires actually wear into the track instead of shredding and beading up at the top of the track making the high lane completely undrivable
