This race was absolutely crazy 54 lead changes lots of battles on the track and let’s not forget about the tire wear it felt like tire wear was set to x4 pretty much the entire race I’ve never seen Bristol this crazy before and I’ve been watching since sometime between 07 and 09
Definitely a crazy race. I liked the tire wear. Goodyear should tone it down a little, but they shouldn’t go back to harder tires.
54 lead changes and only passes from cars saving there tires not competitive passing. . Straight up garbage.
i feel like the closest race i can think of is atlanta before the pavement? there was a year where harvick won bc he was so good saving tires
It was this way in the 90s, tire strategy was very important
@@TitanPUNK99no they were racing and since when is adding strategy a bad thing?? You’re a garbage fan
Between the 3 way tie at Atlanta, KFB driving backwards, and the the track the speedway of the south was based on entire strategy boiled down to “YOU NEED TIRES YOU IDIOT!”, Cars (2006) is looking more and more like a documentary with each passing day.
We’re just missing a Fontana finale. RIP to that big beautiful speedway
might wanna fix your comment. i have no idea what “the the track the speedway of the south” even means.
@@DannyDarkoMusic u know like the lightning McQueen track that is based off of Bristol and where the three way tie is… at least I think that’s what It means
I got Days of Thunder vibes mostly.
It started raining rubber from all the tire wear
Seriously I kept finding it in my hair after the race lol absolutely nutty
I remember in 2007 when I went to my first Texas race rubber coated everything by the end of the race
@@mightyminotaur5056this happens at Darlington every year haha, last year I had black scuff marks all over my face and shirt haha
This is what some of you wanted this was classic old nascar racing…
Good luck with your March Madness brackets, everyone
@@shinedownracing425 The Hatters eh… I’m saying hello to Pittsburgh’s Duquesne! 1st show in 47 years…
@@shaneharrisnj3484 I got Duquesne in the final 4
Kyle’s Signature Move:
Driving backwards
Pulled a Ricky bobby
hes known as Maiter now
I thought it was cool!
Haha
Imagine all that rubber near the fence if they didn’t have those trucks cleaning it every caution
Watching track cleaning not what I want to watch.
Right, back in the day there was even more rubber on the track this was a great race.
@@OpTiC_DaDback in the day the track “took rubber”. Meaning the rubber was smashed into the track, creating grip. These tires just fell apart. And created hundreds on marble and dust everywhere. They couldn’t race each other for fear of blowing out a tire. It was awful! Just awful!
@@OpTiC_DaDNo, back in the day, there was rubber IN the track. Not sitting on top of the track creating wrecks, unless you were too high on the track.
One team I want to shout out is Rick Ware. They were running top 15 on pace alone on a non-superspeedway.
That was great to see.
They got the word from Nascar to start taking it seriously
5 races in, and we already have 2 100% races on the Groovy Gauge, more than the last 2 seasons combined (appreciate the unspoken shoutout, Eric!!)
That dude gives every race a good rating. At this point only call out the bad ones, we already know what the groovy gauge is going to be.
There wasnt a single race in 2023 with 100% @@andrewb8017
Yeah
His
“Groovy Gauge” needs a little groovy work

@@andrewb8017 did you see pheonix rating? Doesn’t sound so
Ok. The Goodyear tire dude speaking to the media reminded me of Sir Miles Axelrod telling us Allinol is safe
This race was how Bristol used to be back in the 1980s & 1990s. Just imagine it with 43 cars.
Which race in the 90s? I remember bump and runs, rattlin cages, revenge moments, but never the race when they couldnt run 15 miles without blowing tires. I remember the Brickyard being like this once and everyone hated it.
They ran much more than 15 laps pal
@@mattharrell3932 I should’ve been more specific.
The tire wear during todays race reminded me of the Hoosier/Goodyear tire war of the late 1980s, but with all of today’s teams using 1 tire. Hoosiers were softer, but less durable. You’d get more speed at the beginning, but the drop off was significant as the tires wore. Goodyears had better wear, & were more durable & consistent with lap times. All the teams had to manage their tires throughout the race, without the benefit of staged cautions. I specifically remember when some cars would smoke the right rear at Dover when it was asphalt. Back then, some teams would buy sets of tires from independent teams as they’d drop out. Mark Martin won his first race at Rockingham with black wheels on the right side, but silver wheels on the left.
He said 15 miles not 15 laps@cameronwood6462
@@jamesculbertson1746 thank you someone who remembers how important strategy and saving your equipment was back in the 80s and 90s….Mark Martin was one of the best at saving his stuff until the end….
Elliott must’ve been conserving his tires very aggressively on the last run. He went from 13th to 8th in the last ten laps or so. I was watching him climb wondering if he was going to crack the top five somehow.
That’s how a lot of older drivers performed back in the day, saving your stuff until it was time to go while everyone else used up their stuff was the way to win ..
This race was an absolute banger. It really did remind me of NASCAR of the late 80s early 90s. All about saving your stuff. Look… short tracks are some of the worse for this Next Gen car… but this race showed that a small change can make a hell of a product. I really hope they don’t change the tire at all. The next race there will be night so tires wont fall off as much. Just keep it how it is for the love of NASCAR. lol.

Anyone who watched elliotts in car all day .. hell of a day and awesome work on how the driver uses his skill and gets a top ten ..! One point he was 25th . Everyone struggled late he just passed as many as possible.. love that tire
.bring the ol times back again !
Ryan Newman was nicknamed ‘Rocket Man’ because he graduated from Purdue University in 2001 with a B.S. in engineering.
And because of his many poles. He set numerous track records in the early to mid 2000s

Major props to Elliott. Getting a top 8 after having Electrical issues is impressive
It’s his first Top 10 of the season
@@MegaMr46 and HUGE, and I mean HUGE props to Rick Ware Racing… Justin Haley with the 51 did a sold job and Kaz Grala in the 15 manged to grind his way from 35th to 8th due to having a good car and playing his cards right, and he would finish in 17th. #miracle
The top three are the oldest full-time drivers. Only AJ is older than Brad K. Age was definitely served today!
