In my opinion that was the best Bristol race in a very long time
It was hot garbage that reminded me of the debacle at the Brickyard. Bristol shouldn’t be like Darlington.
That was old Skewl Bristol and I loved it!
if there’s one thing about nascar, it’s that there are always complainers. it made sense when the racing sucked pretty much every week. but when the racing is arguably the best it’s ever been, and the schedule has the most variability and balance it’s ever had, the complaining just seems so shallow and IMO exposes the people who are just hating.
Yeah and in many cases those who complain like they don’t really watch the race at all, they just see the highlight and quickly complain. New school races they gonna bring “old days”, but then old school race like this they keep whining with other excuses. Smh
I’m curious, do you not understand the complaints about this weekend or do you just not care?
@@Glitchunlocked i understand that it was a little chaotic. i think it went a tiny bit too far. but this was EXACTLY what everybody has been begging for. everybody wants more horsepower and softer tires. bristol yesterday is more or less what that would look like. it wouldn’t be every week. it wouldn’t even be every short track or every bristol race. but it would be closer to that than what we normally have. and full disclosure, I LOVE what we normally have. it’s the best short track racing in the world, and that’s without much tire wear. you add a lot of tire wear and nascar short track racing in the 2020s would be the best racing the world has ever seen.
@@danielchai6145problem is teams could barely manage their tires Sunday.. NASCAR had supply an extra set..
Multiple times guys tires created issues for the lead pack..
There was definitely a lot to look at and say this the direction short track racung should be going, but there are those things NASCAR maybe needs to fine tune.
Either people are acting like it was best race they’ve ever watch or thier comparing it to 2008 brickyard..
The truth is , it was somewhere in the middle of those two statements.
You can be entertained and still see that the product produced , needs improvement in some areas.
That was the best Bristol race I’ve ever seen. Sure it was a perfect storm of a wide variety of elements, but it was BEAUTIFUL. Vets came alive by quickly adjusting to the fall off while the young bucks couldn’t adjust enough. It was great, it looked like the 80s/90s races I’ve only ever seen clips of.
i honestly don’t remember tires coming apart in the 90s at bristol like this.
those who hated this bristol race must’ve also blown their tire while driving back home from the track lol
It was good racing but the only reason I’m hesitant to welcome this is that we only got good racing because Goodyear fucked up. Along with the fact that only one groove took rubber it’s bound to get messy. I think this should be something that is better planned for, they should know the tires will be like this so teams can adjust.
The people that enjoyed it are the people that enjoyed fuel savings at Daytona
@@vanillaguerilla you don’t understand racing. when saving fuel you aren’t making the car harder or easier to drive. you aren’t managing the *ability* of the car to go fast. you’re just waiting to have enough fuel to drive hard. saving tires takes much more technique, much more skill, and much more strategy.
They probably did if they have good year tires on
@@danielchai6145 obviously it’s much harder but it breeds the same junk product of half throttle racing.
all i know is, it was a bad day to be a tire.
I’ve been watching NASCAR since the late 80’s and I can easily say that I haven’t seen a Bristol race like this since the mid 90’s…
I recall Tony Steward being really upset with Goodyear tires at Bristol.
@@miketwotwentyNot even remotely close to those races.
Never has there been a race at Bristol where everyone had flats 40 laps in a run.
when were they cording tires like this in the 90s? i don’t remember that happening at ALL
More like the 2008 Brickyard 400
It was a good short track race, the way a short track race should be run. My opinion
People Just coasting around and getting run into.
Im loving that Blaney continues to show that Ross is in his head lol
Or that ross is dirty ASF and doesn’t give a crap about racing and just trying to wreck people
Yep!
Ross is annoying on the track. Just runs through people like an idiot
One’s a champion though, so…
I think it’s the other way around lmao
I’m ALL for Goodyear tyres coming the hell apart on short tracks. Now on faster circuits? Absolutely not! (I’m looking at you, Indianapolis) But on short tracks, I want these tyres within an inch of their life!!! High tyre deg on short tracks almost always puts forward a good racing product.
My thoughts exactly. I was holding my breath until the teams figured out how to manage the wear. Texas 2022 came to mind as the worst case we’ve seen.
With how many cautions there were there wasn’t much racing going on, not a bad race cuz of the actual craft but due to the amount of pacing it was not good
tyre?
@@danielherring6946 There were only 9 cautions. That’s low for Bristol. The last 121 laps went green. And there were 54 passes for the lead.
If Hamlin didn’t win and said something like Larson did, fans would be grilling him alive. But since Larson said it, fans turn a blind eye.
Not a Hamlin fan, just saying
As a guy who likes both Hamlin and Hendrick Motorsports, it might be because Larson doesn’t make brazen comments as frequently as Hamlin. He’s less controversial, and so people are willing to give him a longer leash.
@@MayBeSomething Very true
@@MayBeSomething yeah, that brazen comment he made in 2020 cut the leash clean in half for a season. He’s been VERY careful about his word choice since then…
if hamlin didnt win he would be crying about ford and chevy having an unfair advantage.
I think if the tires behave like this more often, the guys will get used to it and adapt accordingly. There will still be significant falloff but we won’t see the dramatic cording, leading to a different type of strategy/skill set evolving over time. I like the old school vibe and hope the powers that be let this play out for a while.
This race really showed who can go fast and who can actually drive.
Not really, only 6 drivers were on the lead lap and evryone else was stuck in traffic for 1-3 laps BEHIND!
@@MaxRamos8yeah for a top ten finish! Lol
@MaxRamos8, I hate this line. The best indycar race last year was the Texas race. At one point in that race all but two cars had been lapped. It’s was still great though. I think your favorite driver just sucked and you can’t handle it
Once tires wore out, no one could drive..
Definitely a step in right direction, but Hamlin won in spite of early tire failure..
Kyle spinning out created the caution..
I definitely wouldn’t say this was 100% driver skill.
Of course Larson said that. He wants the hard tire and the 5 second plus over second place type races
Somebody hates Larson…….lol!
That is a stupid comment
@@briankorn6628 So is your handle, Yet here you are.
It was fun to watch. A race like this keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Haven’t seen any tire issues like this since they lavigated lowe’s motor speedway.
It was expected that drivers would be split on it. Some would rather go 100% the whole race while others would like a little more strategy and control on how they should drive.
Either way, it should be noted that above all else the entertainment factor has to be priority. I can’t remember a more entertaining short track race than this one. Goodyear “accidently” hit on something and we finally have a reference to go off of for how the tires should be
I’ve got to agree the veterans who ran late models and always had limited tires really shined yesterday. I like Larson but you can see he’s one of those guys that doesn’t know how to save tires.
Now what would be cool if certain tracks got 2-3 different tire components, that would mix it up !!
Larson prefers short sprints. He’s not really into NASCAR. It’s his 9-5. Despite that, he picked up on the skill and executed. The guy is great.
He had like 50-60 some laps on his last set of tires…….So how does he NOT know how to save tires?????
They were saying before his problem on pit road that he was doing the best at saving tires, so I probably wouldn’t be saying that. I mean guy made his tires last longer than anyone else had all day in that final run and he still managed to finish 5th and had some speed left in his car.
Without the issue on pit road, he might’ve won.
That was a pretty good race yesterday. The only thing I would really suggest is that NASCAR stop making drivers rely on chemicals being sprayed on the track. Let the track rubber in organically then strategize from that.
Didn’t NASCAR put down resin this time around instead of PJ1? I think that, along with the temperature made the race what it was
Yes they used resin yesterday
Maybe it was difficult on TV but watching at the track it was amazing. It was almost difficult to keep track of all the action. Definitely the most entertaining Bristol race I have seen in years
I’ve heard you have never been to a live race ! @@MaxRamos8
@@randymilton-ploof5071 actually I was at the Clash, but the road was not full of the marbles/rosin like what we just saw for bristol
Lots of microfibres getting breathed in
