Why is this way of pitting still used? Your literally running in front of a race car which hasn’t stopped yet
Because it’s the only way a nascar pit road can work. In other motorsports there is enough room in the pits for the crews to already be stationed because the car has enough room to pull into the stall. In nascar the pits are being used by mostly everyone all at once, which is why this is really the only way they can do pit stops.
Pit crews know the risk
The driver almost ended up with a JACK, though the windshield. 4 air Jack’s like indy and f1 would eliminate 1 man obsolete. But they still get hit by other cars, tires, drug out by car with impact in hand. Mandatory stops just for play berth points and yellow flag stops have the greatest at risk frequency of injuries on pit road. Nonmy business, my NASCAR application would be rejected, so carry on.

Nascar teams often draft pit crew members out of High school Football. So yeah. They know how to take a hit.

Like to see u try bud. We used to be in position for pit stops but then a pit crew member was crushed to death. That’s why they go over the wall.
