Honestly, it would make a lot more sense for us to have Sonoma as the end cap or middle part of the West Coast Swing. It certainly would make it a lot more beautiful to race in rather than the sand ruins we go to in the summer.

@MattJr4793 March 29, 2024 at 9:56 pm

the reason Sonoma is where it is because that is turning the tourist season so it will not change

Hot take no double dates

Reply
@jacobevenson8702 March 29, 2024 at 11:59 pm

@@samueladiwinata3440 Few double dates. Only tracks that should get two dates are ones that fill or at least mostly fill the stands for both races. If a track with two dates go multiple seasons in a row with subpar attendance at one of their races, they lose that date.

@JGR4LIFE March 30, 2024 at 12:11 am

Had 2 dates 15 years ago and nobody complained

Reply
@Blaze1337 March 30, 2024 at 12:33 am

Ehhh, I don’t mind doubles that much unless its Pheonix that track has no business having 2 dates.

Reply
@polycube868 March 30, 2024 at 1:01 am

Richmond shouldn’t have 1 date!

Reply
@Jeffgordon24everfan March 29, 2024 at 9:48 pm

A lot is solved by going down to one race per track. You obviously have contracts to work around or wait on to expire. But the cool thing about a contract is no once can force you to renew. Limit tracks to one date in all their new deals and over time fill in new tracks as those dates are made available. It’ll help pack the stands at tracks too with combined fans

@lithium8083 March 30, 2024 at 3:43 am

All tracks reduced to only one race, but not Daytona neither the 500 or 400 should be taken off the calendar

Reply
@chrisw443 March 30, 2024 at 7:10 am

this is the answer, allows change but lets us never abandon another track. Theres no reason to leave places, but one race per place will free up alot, the exception for me is the roval. I just really like it. im sorry.

@naparacingfan9275 March 29, 2024 at 9:54 pm

Tracks wanted on the schedule the most: 1.) Rockingham 2.) Chicagoland 3.) Road America
Maybe dump ROVAL and Chicago Streets to have less road courses. Maybe 4 dates Glen, Sonoma, COTA, and rotational date?

I think the Roval should go to the Charlotte oval. Drop Chicago street race. Do a rotation of COTA, Road America, Mexico City, and Montreal. Say in even numbered years they do COTA and Montreal, and in odd numbered years they do RA and Mexico City so there is always an international race on the schedule. I know the racing at Road America was only okay but plenty of people showed up. Drop a date from Richmond, Martinsville, Phoenix, Bristol, Las Vegas, Kansas, and Atlanta and add a date for Chicagoland, Nashville Fairgrounds, Rockingham, North Wilkesboro, and Auto Club, Kentucky, and Milwaukee. Renovate Texas into an intermediate superspeedway like Atlanta. Do the clash at any 1/2 mile short track in Florida or California and do the All-Star race at any 1/2 mile short track in Virginia or North Carolina.

I believe that is still 36 points paying races that visits every large oval in the US and checks the box of an international race every year. It just doesn’t have dirt or a street race, both of which are fine with me.

@charlieboyd4431 March 30, 2024 at 4:06 am

i agree drop street race add Chicagoland

At an autograph signing, Ricky Stenhouse said to me he would love to see IRP on the schedule. I will admit, that would be cool but you couldn’t find many places to watch the race besides the front stretch.

And Chicagoland if they are smart, could sell the terrain to amazon and have amazon to sponsor the track and also serve as a warehouse and shop for car parts

Quite a few interesting opinions here. Homestead isn’t irrelevant it’s a mile and a half it’s a good track many people want it too have 2 dates. It’s a unique mile and a half provides good racing

There’s no good tracks to go that actually make a difference Cota is great had a good cup race this year but I wana see a oval

In a perfect world Cota is Chicago land and Kentucky is Chicago street course

Road courses and the east coast intermediates and short tracks should rotate cup dates every season or two. Each cup date will feel more special and you will see more people in the stands.

I think Richmond, bit like what happened with Pocono, could benefit from dropping to one date and making a bigger deal out of only having one date as it does have a place on the calendar

It might seem complicated but it’s really not. Only tracks that should have two dates are as follows: Daytona, Charlotte, Martinsville, Kansas, and maybe Talladega.
Easy in principle
