Why have a rule if you’re not going to enforce it …. I call bullshit ..

Agree, why are NASCAR analysts defending the 11 for blatantly breaking the rule… Carl Edwards got black flagged for this exact same scenario many years ago.

Exactly. Get rid of all the rules than.

Photo beams like stores have, drag racing have. Remove the subjective and use an objective technology.
The ‘traditions’ of Nascar are out moded.

Agree. Why even have a restart zone then if you can leave before it. Why is it ok for NASCAR to manipulate races but not the drivers?

@ellislavallee April 2, 2024 at 11:01 pm

As the leader would you let a car ram into the back of you before a restart?

@khovgaming April 3, 2024 at 4:14 pm

@@ellislavallee considering I don’t have any control over his gas pedal yea. Because he doesn’t have control of the race I do.

This is too early in the season to let that type of thing pass.
Latter in the season when it really matters then what are they gonna give.
30 feet?

As a Denny Hamlin fan, I call this bull crap. I do see that he did in fact jump the restart.

Hey atleast a Denny Hamlin fan is honest about it, but do u think he will get a penalty in the furture from this move? Be honest plz

@richardsmith5477 April 2, 2024 at 2:30 pm

@@SuperChevy-bg6ip it’s not like the old days.
JJ jumped and was black flagged or in other words sent to the back.
They don’t do that anymore.
But they were trying to slow his winning down too!

@@SuperChevy-bg6ip I honestly don’t think he will get a penalty, he might. I don’t know what NASCAR is thinking. We’ll just have to see what NASCAR does.

Plain and simple, Hamlin jumped! The fact that NASCAR didn’t call it it BS!

@@hamonryechinaski180so what you’re saying is Denny couldn’t win without jumping the start because Joey might beat him ?? Pathetic logic

@@hamonryechinaski180bruh we’re talking abt the leader here if the leader jumps it’s not fair especially in the final laps

@pennsylvaniapokemon5320 April 2, 2024 at 2:14 pm

Every track limit penalty at COTA on the last laps needs to be rescinded. It was their “last possession” moment and lines apparently mean nothing.

So what if this was for the championship or something major?!?? And what if i barely go out of bounds at Daytona or tallageda or the road courses ??? There is a box and a rule for a reason

@westleysherwood7444 April 2, 2024 at 2:44 pm

Let’s just drop the restart zone. And put a green light on the dash and they’ll go when it turns on.

This!

@wadedavis1495 April 2, 2024 at 6:53 pm

No not this. That ruins the competition and completely takes out the psychological aspect of individual drivers restart skills.

Reply
@hollygolden9673 April 2, 2024 at 3:03 pm

So everyone can do that from now on? Don’t yall DARE try to call that on someone else. This is total BS.

Reply
@ath_vigil April 2, 2024 at 4:06 pm

Not Denny’s fault for doing what he had to do and getting away with it, but NASCAR needs to figure out how to standardize the ruling here and keep to it. You can’t have rules and then not enforce them unequivocally at random, there has to be margins of error that are acceptable and margins of error that are not. It needs to be written down.

I’m a Denny fan, but this was definitely a controversial win because of NASCAR’s rules decision or lackthereof; especially after what we saw last week at COTA with the penalties even within the last lap.

@patrioticdirtracer April 2, 2024 at 4:16 pm

I hate when people try to make a excuse for no calls like this in racing. Racing is a sport where certain rules must be called fairly at all times and jumping the restart is one of those. From now on i want to see anyone on the front row who jumps the start (leader goes before entering the zone or second firing off before the leader) is sent to the rear and you line them up for another restart, doesn’t matter what lap of the race either.

“We agree that he broke the rules, but we agree that rules should be allowed to be broken. Well, some rules, of course we need rules. Some rules can’t be broken. Some can, but some can’t.”

This would be like ignoring the 3-point line at the end of a game, or a goal line, or a foul line. It’s a line.
