@@S.K.R.E.Inc.I mean if you are honest with yourself he saved it for this long… I honestly believe it started to down fall when Gene wanted Custer to in the 41. Same time he was starting things with Leah. Tony and Gene not agreeing coupled with Gene being majority owner I’ve felt like he’s trying to get Gene to sell his shares to him. I think Tony will bring Dodge back(due to TSR affiliation) team will be fine. Gene wants young unproven guys who buy the seat, Tony wants proven guys and the sales team to go get sponsorships. Dale JR does this for his unproven short track guys he gets races for.

Also don’t be surprised if team moves to Chevy and say Dale JR/Harvick was to become a part owners of the team. They already do business together in late model series.

@@EricEstepp Did you hear Elton Sawyer on Racehub tonight? Need to talk about it more! He said that Denny definitely started at least 1/2 car length early. But Nascar made the right decision. Denny broke the rules, but Nascar made the right decision. If that had happened earlier in the race, it would have been a penalty. But Nascar made the right decision. It was a green, white, checker restart, so it was urgent! So that was the right decision. What a fool!

Stewart-Haas won 26 races in a 3 year span from 2018-2020. They have won 4 races in the 3.25 years since 2020.

Their falloff has been CRAZY…

And maybe directly related to Stewart going drag racing and losing interest in the NASCAR side of things. Ticked off at Ford for not letting him go after Larsen. All of that happened in 2020. Gene Haas messing around with F1. SHR became a rudderless ship.

@KombatRacer April 2, 2024 at 11:35 pm

@@jamesscully529 I agree. As much as Tony doesn’t want to admit it, it’s evident he’s lost interest in being involved with the sport, or at least being heavily involved.

Reply
@madisonbuyselltrade9447 April 2, 2024 at 11:54 pm

Yeah, I think Tony has no interest left for NASCAR after their ridiculous hijinks and Ford for being the company who’s creator literally promoted ACTUAL racism yet refused Larson who made a mistake. Like, do you want to win races, Ford? I would love for Tony to come back and just get some control back. I feel he has lost much of the control he had early on with the team (that’s why all the winning early) and after losing control and attention it has went back to being a Haas team (which, remember, sucked before Tony came). Like, I think Tony went off and created the SRX just to get some of that fun back that has left in recent years. @@jamesscully529

Because SHR got caught too many times in being creative. Or was it only a quality control issue as SHR claimed.

The NHRA is simply more user-friendly. Of course, Tony will tell you he’s merely keeping Leah’s seat warm. It’s her car, he’s just the temp hire! I guess his plan is to be a full-time dad and let Leah chase Championships, if and when that happens.

As for NASCAR, I think they are simply in a rebuilding period. Josh Berry was a brilliant hire. Little disappointed in Briscoe. Not sure why they hired Gragson.

Back to the NHRA side, Matt Hagen won his 4th Funny Car World Championship, and first for Tony last year.

Leah took the fight down to the very last race of the season. Had she won that final round, she would have gotten her 2nd World Championship, 1st in Top Fuel.

Of course Tony himself finished 2nd in the A/Fuel World Championship to Julie Nataas, the driver from Norway, whose father is the former European Top Fuel Champion. Julie moved to the United States with the goal of winning World Championships and eventually moving up to Top Fuel. She started drag racing when she was 8.

2023 was pretty good for Tony Stewart Racing! Matt is looking good this year too.

As one of the few Austin Dillan believers on the internet, Austin’s bad results only started when Kieth came in as crew chief.So I can say with confidence that Austin will look like his pre2023 self and be a good driver again.

My bet would be Preece is out the door. If SHR sells a Charter.

Another theory I have which is probably 1000% wrong. SHR Sells 1 charter, Gragson is out, JR Motorsports buys the charter. JR Motorsports puts Gragson in their newly acquired cup charter.

@robertholbrook5873 April 2, 2024 at 11:41 pm

Briscoe and Gragson are signed to multi-year deals and with Berry being a rookie I doubt they shut down that team and sell more than 1 charter so Preece will be gone

People keep talking about Denny going to his own team. I just don’t understand how this is a great option for him. Think about it, he will essentially have to pay for his own ride while right now he makes millions driving. He has also mentioned before that finding a great pit crew is hard as hell and right now he probably has the best pit crew in NASCAR. Then look at 23 XI and they already need great pit crew members so that would add even more of a burden.

I wouldn’t blame him for wanting to drive for himself, but I just don’t know if it will be good for him in terms of getting the results he is getting right now. Now, maybe he does go to his new team and somehow wins the championship. That would be pretty crazy

See I’m not a big fan of Tony. I respect his skill and his business management though. Maybe if Honda comes in a three-car Honda team could really get their stuff going again.

But I personally think the competition is just getting better. Stewart-Haas has relatively Young drivers and even though they’re all good in their own right they’ve got to go up against people that are vastly more experienced usually with better equipment. Let’s not even talk about or mention the massive turnaround in performance that seems like RFK have pulled off. Or Spire and RWR occasionally pulling off a miracle settup. Plus Front Rows ramp up in performance.

I don’t necessarily think that Stewart-Haas can’t win races without harvick. I just think that the competition is so good and tight these days that they’re getting out matched

Reply
@TekuTaurus April 3, 2024 at 12:56 am

Something to note: SHR has a pretty solid Xfinity program. Ford has very few Xfinity cars, and SHR are the only ones that are actually competitive (and Ryan Sieg at some tracks). Ford needs them to be able to have any significant presence in that series. And if SHR does sell a charter, that opens up space at their shop to run a 3rd Xfinity car, which could field whoever loses their Cup ride

Reply
@John-kx3ng April 3, 2024 at 5:21 am

One thing to take into consideration is the fact that SHR oversees Fords Xfinity program and and I don’t see any of their other teams taking on the responsibility to do so. Both Penske and RFK have no interest and Frontrow doesn’t have the capacity.
