Bring back the Bristol package? Those tires were identical to last year’s tires, and the aero package is the exact same as the 1.5 mile package. There is no such thing as a “Bristol package”.
Changed the channel mid-way into stage two and came back for the last 10ish laps… That was a rough one to watch.
It was an average Martinsville race. Stop with the dramatics.
@@shaynejenkins446Average for next gen Martinsville, horrible compared to Martinsville of old
Them Chevys looked great up front, didn’t they!!!!
at least you had the option… i don’t get FS1…
i know jeff gordon must’ve gotten 2012 ptsd flashbacks when JHN pulled a david reutimann with 3 to go…
If David Reutimann never brought out that caution then Bowyer would have been fighting for a championship at Homestead that year
Yes
Danica Patrick was The Catalyst because of The Deal between Stewart Haas Racing and Tommy Baldwin Racing on The 10 Car benefitting both teams where Danica ran 10 races while David Reutimann ran the rest of the 2012 season on her behalf to stay in the Top 35 guaranteeing her a spot in the start she made
2010 and 2010
Am I crazy to think that this was arguably worse than the 2022 Martinsville Spring race? It just feels like all these aerodynamic short track changes NASCAR has made for the past 2 years hasn’t made a single difference, at least for this year.
Time for serious changes.
Nah, 2022 Martinsville Spring is still worse. Though difficult, you could still pass today. You couldn’t do any of that in that Spring race two years prior, and not to mention the fact it was cold and no rubber was being laid down at all.
as a straight up race to race comparison it was not as bad… but it was cold in the 22 race. So I think this one was worse since it was all on the package.
Yeah you’re crazy for sure.
@@Redslayer86 probably so. But we are in year 3 in the Gen 7, and I feel like there are little changes to the racing on short tracks and road courses.
@@Redslayer86
Agree. Love the short tracks and enjoyed todays race.
NASCAR can we just please try horsepower, just try it ffs so if it doesn’t work we know that it’s the car.
And ditch the 5 speed on short tracks.
And only visit asphalt short tracks when the average temperature should be above 80 degrees. Slick tracks reduce grip, too.
Yep. I’m with you.
Its the Wheels and Tire Combo , with Way to big of breaks , the tires** should be BACK AT ONLY 12″ wide. AND Back to the 5 lugs. , put the NORMAL, wheels and tires back on it. And ON SHORT Tracks it would race 1000% better. Smaller tire , Smaller brakes , Smaller wheels , and no 8 second pit stops. And For the Love of Jesus , DO AWAY with independent rear suspension on NASCARS that go in Circles, so the point is , ITS NOT HP its the Design of about 30 things , that them idiots Rushed and made during Covid , they didnt Test and tune as they should have for a FEW 3 TO 5 YEARS , BEFORE they MADE the teams put together Kit Cars. its a joke. !!!! Just a really bad joke !!! And FTR im a Bowman Fan to the bone , but this car SUCKS ,!!!!
It’s definitely the car… the Xfinity race, with the older style cars, was a wayyy better race, and that’s usually the case at most the tracks

@@EricEsteppWhen ford got these new bodies they couldn’t win anything but last year they were familiar with the old mustang but after seeing a Hendrick 1-2-3 I keep thinking in my head that it’s rigged lol
The transaxles probably won’t hold up to the extra HP.
It’s so annoying how NASCAR typically doesn’t get its act together, especially regarding the Next-gen car on short tracks. The best way to fix the short track is buy using the Gen-6 style package of at least 750 HP at short tracks or use a simple hybrid system, with extra 150 to 200 hp boost, no aero tweaks and eliminate shifting by using slower gear ratios for short tracks.
The Gen 6 you could kind of get near the rear bumpers easier without as much aero wash.
750 might not be enough. Maybe 800.
@@ChrisBl33p. 900+ go all in. you might not see big enough changes with small incremental increases.
@@rdlangston13I agree. Why are we trying to puss y fi these cars? Is it to cater to the silver spoons and DEI (diversity, equality, inclusion) drivers? Kind of seems like it.
But yes we need tires and power. Or just power and go from there. We don’t want to change to many thing and not see way it’s still not working, if that makes sense?
Rudy fugle is by far the best crew chief in the garage.. he always has byron in the front at the finish
@@driverslqqk7940 if you are convinced it is scripted then why do you even watch? I wouldn’t waste my time if I actually believed what you just said.
The biggest change they can make to improve short track racing is to get rid of shifting.
Even Clint Bowyer is smart enough to say it, which he did several times during the broadcast.
And schedule the short tracks when the avg temps are above 80.
Horsepower and less downforce. Lets make the drivers drive.
The issue is how slow the cornering speeds are at Martinsville. As long as the straightaway speeds are double the cornering speeds, odds are it makes sense to shift. Idk what the ratios are in the new transaxles but it would have made sense even with the old H pattern transmissions. That’s why we saw shifting at Pocono. Unfortunately that can of worms is open and we can’t put the lid back on.
@@PinMonkey1960Not sure how much downforce actually helps at Martinsville. At Bristol and Richmond I can see it I guess. I don’t like the idea of increasing the HP because it sort of defeats the purpose of the gen 7 car. But hear me out: what if we put narrower tires on them at short tracks? It would make tire management a thing again and at places like Martinsville, would have a similar effect as high horsepower by limiting grip on corner exit.
It is dumb because I don’t think it makes you that much more talented and the cars are probably harder to drive without shifting.
The new car was built with the idea to improve road course racing and to a degree mile and a half tracks. The problem is.. it’s too good, so no one is at a significant disadvantage. If you give the teams a different package for better results then they will maximize it so again , no significant disadvantage. Square one try something different. Firestone anyone?
Nice to see William Byron snap that 1 race winless streak.
@@davids5006 I said the same thing about Hamlin last week.
I love it dude! Lol
Who the heck cares about Hendrick cheating motor sports I’m sick of them
Yes this broadcast was very PAINFUL for a non HMS fan the glazing was crazy
Exactly, I don’t think nascar like gave them the win or something, but tv was totally playing favorites and pushing a narrative all day long
@@InsaneCelery238 as they would for any other team when approaching milestone anniversaries and accomplishments.
@@Roadhouse1997 Nascar is in the tank for Hendrick. Clearly favorited.
Yea, multiple drivers have said that Nascar won’t let any other manufacturers get better than Hendrick. No other sport has rules that say you can’t be better than this team.
@@Roadhouse1997 I mean, they didn’t do close to half that for rcr’s 50th which see like in would be way more important
If jumping the restart wasn’t bad enough now the announcers are mocking the fans
I love how they showed the graphic of Hamlin at 100% throttle way before the box, then gave us a “it’s a ball and strike call” which would make sense if the strike zone wasn’t painted all over the walls and along the track, and you didn’t clearly have throttle tracing capabilities. The keep justifying their call with evidence that pushes it further towards “we know he cheated and we don’t care”
still havent realized you cant watch the lines because you are looking in your mirror trying to prevent the cheat behind you of gaining a unfair advantage going faster than the leader by anticipating the restart ? you still didnt understood that Hamlin doesnt have the choice to where to restart cuz it has to be done when the guy behind is checking up or breaking when touching your bumper after that cheating move consisting of leaving a gap and speeding faster than the leader. Nascar just keeping it fair giving the leader the advantage he is due.
@@palmtree82 Unacceptable. Bad look and call, rabbit hole BS .

I watched an Xfinity series race for the first time last night and I was quite happy with what I saw. I feel like it was much more exciting than today’s cup race. Being an Almirola fan, it was all that much better getting the chance to see him find victory lane especially as only a part time driver. Great upload as always Eric
Xfinity is better because they still have the older style car.

@@therensselaerrailfan Very true!
“today’s race was light on storylines” is the nicest way i’ve heard someone call a race boring
The reason the broadcast was so Hendrick focused was because there’s nothing else to talk about when you can’t pass
Oh some were great at passing. My question is how clean did those people pass. I’m a Gragson fan boy and he had a harder time passing than his teammates it seemed.
Best Moment of the Race:
Denny Hamlin moves Bubba out of the way, forcefully, and Harvick says something along the line of “You can do that when you own the car.”
(Or ‘When you pay the bills’ or something like that)
