Best wishes to Erik Jones recovery, big opportunity for Corey Heim making his cup debut

Wishing Jones a very quick and speedy recovery. Legacy MC has really improved this year with both cars top 20 in points. Hope to see him back ASAP but not rush his return.

One thing I noticed recently: When a full-time Cup Series got either injured or suspended for example, their substitute driver usually gets a full-time ride for Cup the next season. Ex: Newman in 2020, the sub was Chastain (gets promoted to Cup for 2021), Kurt Busch gets hurt in 2022, the sub was Ty Gibbs (gets promoted to Cup for 2023), Elliott and Bowman get hurt in 2023, the sub was Josh Berry (gets promoted to Cup for 2024), Gragson gets suspended in 2023, subs were Berry and Hocevar (both drivers were promoted to Cup full time for 2024)… if Heim does well in his starts, he could legitimately become a full-time Cup driver in 2025… worth noticing @EricEstepp

Very interesting trend. Good observation. I don’t think Heim is a lock to get a Cup seat next year, but he’s definitely one of the top 2 Toyota prospects right now.

@@EricEsteppAgreed. But if either 23XI or LMC could purchase a third charter once the agreement gets signed, then Heim could come to cup next year. But ofc he has to perform first

@@EricEsteppI think Heim has had only 2 finishes in trucks outside the top 10 in his short career so far. I’m not saying he’s cup ready by any means but there’s definite talent there if you can finish in the top 10 any time you show up aside the occasional incident. He’s impressed me so far, maybe not in 2025 but maybe 2026 we’ll see him in Cup full time, that’d be my guess.

I would predict Jesse Love getting a Cup seat before him honestly.

That was a bad hit. Safe to say 25 years ago nobody would survive a hit like that. Jones got lucky that we have the safety that we have

That’s exactly what I was going to say. No safer barrier, no Hans, then we’re talking a funeral instead of missing some races.

Safety has definitely come a long way, just wish people would stop head hunting bubba over it.

Im not a toyota fan at all, typical not my team banter, but NEVER want a driver hurt. Hurry back EJ God speed

Yep I mean dales was at 150mph but his seatbelt failed. Seatbelts don’t fail like that anymore plus the other safety features. Everything did its job

Gotta be thankful for just missing races then

That was very similar to Earnhardt’s crash,
Glad to see he was able get out of the car on his own.

Prayers up for Jones. Absolutely vicious hit. Was worried as soon as I saw it. Hopefully he’s back in the car soon to keep building momentum

That hit that Erik Jones took. Looked a lot like dale Earnhardt sr. Crash When he died.

I agree with you 100% the only difference was he wasn’t on the front quarter panel he was on the rear quarter panel with that car hit and slid the same way or nurse car did Yes

Get well soon, Erik!

His crash was nasty, but he “walked” away with vertebral fracture with that impact, thank you NASCAR, teams, Engineers, SAFER Barriers, HANS, etc.
As gor back injuries, we need look at the suffering Jeff Gordon went through before getting proper treatment, and his performance suffered. I really like Erik, take care of yourself young man

Hope Jones takes it easy and doesn’t rush back. Though I do notice Eric doesn’t mention Jeff Gordon when talking about back injuries he usually goes back to Hamlin and no further. It’s well known Gordon didn’t miss time but dealt with back issues for years after his hard wreck at Las Vegas.

My prayers go out to Eric & co. Talented young driver. It’s so sad when the Social Media people amplify the drama surrounding these things, drama sucks. Let’s get back to racing, sooner rather than later.

All things considered the angle of attack from the car to the wall looked very similar to Dale Sr in 2001…..He was lucky to escape with just a broken vertebra

The fact they missed the back injury actually makes sense. When I broke my wrist, the x-rays the next morning didn’t show much evidence of the two hairline fractures. There was such a small change in coloration on the x-ray that the doctor and the nurses went off the pain I was experiencing. Doesn’t make it right but it does make sense.
