Why are we surprised ? HMS is Nascar’s pride n joy. Nothing against Larson at all ! If that were somebody like a Josh Berry, no waiver granted, we all know that …

I figured Larson was getting a waiver but it has more to do with how often they’ve always handed out waivers in the past. If they’re giving waivers to drivers who were suspended for taking out other drivers out of the race or even waivers to drivers who were retired before the season began..It would have been a bad look for Nascar to have this be where they draw the line

Ultimately, this (and Kyle Busch in 2015) show that the chase is a goofy championship system, and winning a race shouldn’t be a qualifier for it. Scoring points should be the only qualifier. I don’t think Larson would risk missing a race if he didn’t have wins to fall back on.

I have a hard time comparing the 2. Kyle Larson may very well still end up being the points leader when it’s all said and done

He is second in points while missing a race.

I am a Larson fan. I don’t think it was the RIGHT decision. But based on past precedent, it was the ONLY legitimate option NASCAR had. If they had proverbially said, “it’s ok to get suspended but not ok to make a call to fulfill sponsor and other obligations in a weather situation” the sport would have officially jumped the shark.

It should be remembered that Kyle Busch got the waver in 2015 not because he was injured in a NASCAR race, but, he was injured because NASCAR ADMITTED they (NASCAR) was AT FAULT for not installing safer barrier. So, NASCAR said “We caused the injury”, so “We give a waver”.

On the local short track side. We run 22 races and the top 18 count. That gives us options if WWE want to go camping or what ever we can. But as we all know your going to have bad nights. Are you willing to Chace it to a bad night or taking the championship. I’m a points racer myself. I’m not missing a race that I could win. Just saying. That’s why I retired in 2023

FACTS KEVIN!!!! Great for racing, as a whole. Let’s not act like Nascar and Hendrick didn’t talk. Great for racing and then nascar just kept the drama up! Shame…. GOT down the steps.

When are we going to realize that basing it solely off points will solve 80% of the problems nascar is having

Reply
@shaneatwater9168 June 5, 2024 at 2:29 pm

The drivers are not going to intentionally miss a race for no reason. The waiver shouldn’t even be a thing. get rid of it.

Reply
@gojeffgordon24 June 5, 2024 at 3:13 pm

Just ditch the waiver entirely. I don’t think it is needed. Not getting points is one form of penalty. Also, the team owner and sponsors aren’t going to let a driver take 4 vacations over the the summer where they are skipping the races. The sponsor pays for that that big name driver to be in that car on Sunday. not sitting on a beach getting a tan. The waiver is a rule that has been added that doesn’t need to exist.

Kevin is 100 percent right!!!!! Love you kevin. Best news LARSON getting the waiver!!!!!Chase is the most popular driver!!!!

Requiring a driver to start every race is a dumb rule in the first place and it’s dumber that it was even a conversation to get this waiver
