What changes to the NASCAR Playoff schedule do you foresee?
I know there is people that want the Winston point system back.
The playoffs going away entirely.
Every race will be at Dover
@zenosphere6490 I hate say it but there staying
@Ronald_Jones I genuinely don’t understand why it still exists. It was created as a way to boost viewership at the end of the season to compete with other sports, mainly football. Plain and simple, it didn’t work and has received only backlash. Why is it still here?
I would like to see a new format.I hate to see a season decided by the final restart of the season.Maybe have the final four race the final three races combined for the championship.
I still think just splitting the playoffs in half would be great. Drop the number of drivers that can get in to 12, no more win and you’re in, after the first 5 playoff races the playoff field gets cut in half and the final 6 race for the championship over 5 races. Oh also… no more “playoffs”, it’s nascar, it will always be The Chase. The proper name should return.
Make the final 10 races the “playoffs”. No eliminations or rounds. Only 10 drivers make the “playoffs” and they get 10 races to win the championship. This elimination bullshit is just that BS! No other Motorsport has a “playoff”.
@@rebelsoul5980So, the original Chase format. I agree!
NASCAR won’t ever go back to any prior iterations of the chase/playoffs, so they need to do one of two things. One, make the final “round” 3 races. One race, winner take all is bs, and not representative of who the true champion should be. But if that doesn’t happen, allow the champ 4 drivers to collect stage points. For example, if Denny dominates the race, wins both stages, and chokes the final restart to Larson and finishes second, Denny (possibly) still scored more than Larson, and should be scored as such, and be crowned champion.
I’m happy with any schedule changes. So many years of being stagnant and never changing. Now the schedule is finally evolving into possibly the most diverse in racing. Now IndyCar’s schedule has mostly become stagnated.
Idk, variety is good, but I wish they paid more attention to weather patterns. Prior to the pandemic, the percentage of race events impacted by weather was single digit percentages for decades. Last couple of years it’s been over 30%
@@TheeGlocktopus Agreed. Green Sonoma as part of the west coast swing would make more sense. Have midwest/northeast swing in the summer. Carolina swing for teams in May and etc.
2:46 It was the regular season finale but it was never a playoff race
That’s what I was going to say. I do think what hurt that race was the following factors
1. That was the first time that the Brickyard had moved from Sunday to Monday due to weather.
2. Had the race went ahead on Sunday without mother nature interfering, it would have conflicted with the Indianapolis Colts home opener just down the road
Bring back Road America
Pocono in the playoffs would be awesome but I also have a soft spot for it being in July. Ever since that 2021 doubleheader it has been my most anticipated race of the summer.
I would love to see Milwaukee Mile in the cup and nation wide side
I hope NASCAR considers making Homestead a night race if/when it’s moved.
or at least day to night, that’d be coole ither way tho
It’s Goatway’s time to shine.
BTW, Gateway is getting a new cup date next season due to IndyCar moving to June.
More road courses please. And yeah move the new England / North East races to playoffs in the fall. We’re too rainy here in the spring.
Gateway is definitely moving to the playoffs with the Indycar race now taking place in June
7 roadcources next year
Removing the bristol night race should be a crime
the Bristol night race will never be anywhere except for the playoffs. It’s a great track for the cutoff races, and I could see it getting moved to the regular season finale to be honest, which in my opinion is still mostly a playoff race. It could also work as the next to last race of the season, which would really help in general as Martinsville has (sadly) proven to be an awful track since the Gen 7 started (and since wall riding was banned).
With Nashville, the date maybe too close to Indycar seasons end as they’re trying to end their sesson in that market
Dover needs to get there playoff race back
On Gateway. Idk if it’s going in the playoffs but the date is getting changed. Rumors Indycar moved their date from August to June 15 because Gateway is allegedly getting a new NASCAR date . I doubt Indycar schedules their date 2 weeks after NASCAR . Maybe Gateway to Pocono’s slot, and Pocono to the playoffs.
A playoff race at pocono would be awesome. Especially in the fall all the trees surrounding the track will be changing colors making it really beautiful
i wouldn’t race at homestead-miami speedway during hurricane season
