In the last five years Spire Motorsports overall has easily been the most improved team in the NASCAR Cup Series. This was only strengthened today with the signing of crew chief Rodney Childers to be the crew chief for Corey LaJoie. The trajectory they are on leads many to believe that Spire is Primed to compete?!

Do you think Spire will be able to compete for a Playoff spot in the next year or two?
It all depends on the support they get from Chevrolet
Absolutely
Not really
I hope so, hope Corey sees victory lane before he inevitably is let go
I think Spire will take over RCR’s spot as the 3rd best Chevy team in Cup in the next few years.
If Lajoie isn’t good next year they have to move on from him
Or put Childers with Hocevar
Childers I believe is going to be bringing up the rear with Joseph are still a test dummy and still learning with McDowell holding his own?
I did not expect Childers to join Spire but with LAJOIE?
if he was lajoie crew chef then damn don’t be surprised if lajoie has some flashes
Hey man this is the same guy who used to crew chief David Reutimann to two victories and some decent finishes in Pre-Bowyer MWR in 2009 and 2010, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Childers can make LaJoie, and even Spire much more competitive next year, he’s a guaranteed race winning crew chief, I’d watch out for the #7 Camaro next year honestly
@@rehehehehehehehehehedream on though. It’s not gonna help Lajoie to stop wrecking just like with Hocevar.
Not with lajoie
Not with Lajoie or Carson Hocevar that isn’t a stretch either.
Hocevar is the future of the team
If Corey lajoie don’t run well with Rodney childers I don’t know what to say
Spire has been on fire lately over the past 12 months, with investment from Gainbridge they bought KBM, they bought a 3rd Cup Charter, signed Michael McDowell and recently signed Rodney Childers, we’ll see if the LaJoie-Childers Duo works out. No disrespect to Corey Lajoie, IMO it would’ve made more sense for Rodney to partner up with McDowell or Carson Hocevar.
I saw people saying of Reddit that if
Corey doesn’t perform in 2026. That Kyle Busch could move over to the 7 if spire does indeed improve to the level of RCR. It feels possible but I’m not sure it will happen.
Lajoie is gonna need all the help he can get from Childers next year. So it might be sooner or later that we see a Spire car compete for the championship.
That’ll make 23XI, RFK, and Trackhouse triggered, and worry Hendrick, Gibbs, and Penske
I could see Spire being the ones to bring Honda into NASCAR given the existing Andretti partnership. There is also the fact that Andretti isn’t joining F1 anytime soon & therefore has more time & resources to use towards a future NASCAR team.
Childers is definitely a building block for the future as he will help secure wins across the board. And have a secure position by buying into the Team
I’d rather see him work with McDowell. A great crew chef isn’t gonna make Lajoie crash less.
lol
I tend to disagree I think he’ll run up front more often and crash less often with their pit strategies)?
@since1961 keep Dreaming
Exactly! Childers’ presence won’t make LaJoke a better driver. If Spire wants to get really serious, they need to dump LaJoke for someone else better.

Time to stop stacking pennies and spins and start stacking points and wins for LaJoie next year. Huge move for Spire.
Yeah, after 10 losing years number 11 is it…
He doesn’t have a crew chief problem, he doesn’t have a team problem, he should he watching the race from his living room not the drivers seat.
Stacking pennies,
stacking spins,
stacking wrecks,
stacking DNFs,
stacking enemies on the track,
stacking mediocrity.
And it’ll be more of the same regardless of what crew chief LaJoie has.
This is awesome news, and I hope this will build Corey LaJoie’s confidence for the rest of this season, and next year and beyond! Finally, LaJoie will have a winning crew chief helping him out!
I like Corey but he’s got to step it up
I’m telling you right now, he won’t get good anytime soon. He hasn’t gotten better at all up to this point so I highly doubt he’ll magically become a serious threat next season.
I hear ya.
With Lajoie as the main driver you can kiss contention goodbye. But Childers and McDowell coming on board definitely strengthens that team significantly.
I’ve said for years, Rodney Childers is the best crew chief in NASCAR. However, I’m disappointed in this move. Really wish he would’ve went with Josh Berry to the 21 car.
Harvick had 23 wins and 6 top 5 points finishes before Childers. He definitely did even more after, but he was already a championship contender fairly consistently. I kinda think Childers just inherited a championship caliber driver with Harvick. I have low expectations with Lajoie for Lajoie reasons.
Corey LaJoie at this point is the starter weapon completely maxed out.
I don’t think they said Childers will be with Lajoie they just said the 7 car. Mabey Lajoie won’t be there next year
