Crown Jewel races are the most important races on the NASCAR schedule with prestige and reverence. The four on there, the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, Brickyard 400, and Southern 500 all are these shiny jewels on the crown. So far this year we have had three of these races, and whether it be at Daytona, Charlotte or Indianapolis have had problems. 2024 has been rough for NASCAR Crown Jewels.

What have your opinions been of NASCAR’s 2024 crown jewel races?
It’s been the only buzzkills on what I would say has been an incredible season so far.
They’ve been good but they’ve just have bad finishes
@@TheIceberg the 600 was cancelled by FOX
Weather is bad luck and the next-generation car isn’t what it was all cracked up to be so, kinda one of those… “well damn” things
Hendrick screwed over Daytona and Indianapolis, Fox screwed over the 600 and Larson’s Double Duty attempt
They’ve been good until the weather hits
It was good when it wasn’t on Fox, they ruined Daytona and Charlotte
Hopefully the southern 500 delivers a good finish
It’s not on antenna, already a bad sign. Hopefully the weather cooperates and Fox doesn’t sabotage the broadcast for NBC
Well one advantage it has is it’s the “regular season finale,” and all those cars trying to get into the Playoffs will be trying their damnedest to get a clutch win to enter the Playoffs and/or win the “regular season” championship.
Hopefully the southern 500 pull through
I still think Fox pulled the plug on the Coca-cola 600
Most likely
It kept drizzling for another 3hrs i live in the area it would’ve been called anyway sadly
@@lathanpankey2173 Objection, I live rather close to the track and it had stopped raining by then
I still believe that to, that also really pissed off a lot of drivers. The most ticked off from that group was Tyler Reddick. I would say they had a legitimate beef with Fox. That was a really really bad look for Fox right there.
They have been great until the weather ruins it
Or in the 1st half’s case, Fox
I hope the southern 500 will be good this year…
I wonder how The Southern 500’s gonna go
I really am hoping for the most straight-forward Southern 500.
It’s a down year for the crown jewels. The whole weekend at Daytona was washed out to Monday, the 600 left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth no thanks to Fox, and the Brickyard was marred by lousy officiating. At least the Southern 500 will be good – fingers crossed for that.
Hopefully weather doesn’t interfere, nor does Fox sabotage NBC’s broadcast, and Uncle Sam keeps his mouth shut til Monday
This might sound really dumb, but I believe that there should be 3 bye-weeks a year. The three are the week before a the Coke 600, Brickyard 400, and Southern 500. Don’t add exhibition or qualifying races, but give the teams some kind of rest and then have a mini speed week and hype up these events.
Doesn’t sound dumb, tbh. Plus there’s way too many races in a row and too many Cup races. More drivers and teams do deserve some kind of rest and break because having a bunch of races in a row with little off-weeks is not good for them not only physically, but mentally
Well, you’re gonna love 2026 and 2028. The World Cup is back on American (and Mexican) soil, so they’re gonna make way for that. And Auto Club Speedway is in the vicinity of the Olympics and might host an event along with the Coliseum (that is, if NASCAR actually committed to using it for that long)
Um NO! As a simracer who runs at TORA who uses bye weeks in every damn series. I hate them because it basically says you can miss the races at tracks you hate and still win a championship. Its a stupid idea. Champions should be determined by full season points and earning as many points as possible. Would it be fair to you if in a 13 race season I miss one race aty worst track and you gained points on me but were less than a race ahead of me by the end of it and at the end of thw year they drop your lowest scoring round which puts you behind me because you lost a race full of points and I lost none. Its unfair and stupid.
@@WindchargerPrime sim racing and real life racing are 2 different things
@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YTagree and add to that: we have way too many tracks with double dates. It’s an insanely big schedule, needs to be more rational. Nascar had a major schedule reduction in 1972. Maybe it’s time for another.
I know the impacts of that, but I stand my ground that it should be, at least, considered.
I still think the 500 got more hate than it deserved. It was a good race that ended under caution. It just happens. The 600 is still the worst call due to it maybe not even being a nascar call.
Hopefully the Southern 500 will be straightforward but with how this year is going i wouldn’t be surprised if they make it past halfway and then get dump on by rain that lasts over a day.
Not a Nascar fan anymore, but the Brickyard 400 was the first raced I watched in full in over a decade. It was great.
I was there in person and I really enjoyed both races
I was there for my first race MY FAVORITE DRIVER WON
Brickyard 400 was great. Larson was spectacular. The controversies weren’t particularly outrageous. The penalties were frustrating but Larson didn’t cross the line. Elliott did. The restart after Keselowski pitted was confusing but not overly controversial. And I get why they delayed the caution. Preece moved his car a couple of times and NASCAR wanted to avoid multiple overtimes with fuel-related wrecks, so they waited as long as they could. Makes sense.
I think all four Crown Jewels should have duels, single-car qualifying and multiple practice sessions.
I feel, get rid of overtime. The 500 and the brickyard would have been so much simpler and less controversial if the race would just end on time
I was at the Brickyard 400 this past weekend (also first time at Indy), and I must say minus being in love with the venue the NASCAR side had a LOT to be desired. If there were signs etc for the fan zone myself and others couldn’t find it I had a feeling it was in the infield so took a gander and I’ll say for the hype we all had for the Brickyard 400 the fan zone was nothing like my home track of Michigan, or Nashville (went last year), Chevrolet was the only manufacturer display, other than the team merch haulers we may of had 4 other displays I get it was tight but at the same time it’s the Brickyard 400 you need to really make the entire atmosphere feel special. And I just feel to a first timer (my friend that was with me being one) there was a lot to be desired.
When you have a package that favors the lead car, very little green flag passes for the lead, tires that don’t give up much at all, and a monsoon tropical depression that follows the series around on a weekly basis this is the results you get.
NBC needs to get it together. You can’t change the channel the race is on during the race every week.
