Really hope this means Phoenix will be his last race for real this time.I like Jimmie, which is why I want to stop seeing him looping around on his own every god damn race he’s in.

He was wrecked out at Indy getting into the top 10…. I mean… let’s be fair. He’s been wrecked out by others more often than not.

Reply
@CHODE_PRODUCTIONS July 29, 2024 at 10:59 pm

I don’t agree, yeah last year he wrecked himself a lot. but the last few races he’s been flat out taken out lol. I think he’s starting to figure out the next gen and could get a top 10 soon.

@@CHODE_PRODUCTIONS wile you have a point, Indianapolis was like the only race he was running half way respectable when he had a issue, and even that was really reliant on strategy going his way.Also I think he should aim for a top 20 before a top 10 1st.

He doesn’t need to become a parody of the 7 time champ we know. Imagine if Dale Sr sucked and ran 35 every week. No bueno

Imagine telling a NASCAR fan in 2004 that “Jimmy Johnson’s Crew Chief Fired” would one day be an actual headline

That’s because Jimmy Johnson was an NFL coach, not a NASCAR driver. I think you are thinking of Jimmie.

Jimmie has scored fewer points in SIX races combined than Joey Hand scored in the Chicago street race. Jimmie has no business being on the racetrack; the crew chief isn’t the issue.

Reply
@idkIamBORED July 29, 2024 at 9:06 pm

Joey hand finish like 3rd that race and won a stage, that’s not a fair comparison

Reply
@ASKid24 July 29, 2024 at 9:15 pm

@@idkIamBORED lol what? You literally made my point. In ONE race, he drastically outperformed and out scored Jimmie. Jimmie is doing nothing getting behind the wheel. He’s a shell of his former self and that’s being very generous.

Reply
@idkIamBORED July 29, 2024 at 9:29 pm

@@ASKid24 you can literally say that about any driver, Larson had more points at Indy so did Blaney if you would have said someone else who has struggled or not made as many starts, your point would hold more weight

Unrelated, but I think it’s a missed opportunity for the truck series to be off for these weeks. They’re on fs1 so it doesn’t conflict with the Olympics. I’m sure there are a few cup drivers who would’ve run those races if they were at interesting tracks, and nascar fans would have something to watch.

That’s OK, over in the NHRA the racing is good and this weekend in Sonoma multiple teams were tickling 340 mph.

For Jimmie to think it wouldn’t be this tough, how easy do you think it would be. Joining a team and growing it form the ground up is going to take time. With no technical alliance and working with Toyota on your own it makes this situation feel a lot similar to what MWR was when they first came on the scene. They struggled mightily their first couple of season and then eventually got much better until spingate. Legacy has the potential but Jimmie is going to to have to realize this isn’t something that’s gonna happen overnight, its gonna take time and development to reach their full potential.

The third team to develop new talent? Jimmie Johnson isn’t new talent. It was a ride to satisfy his hunger to continue racing.

I thought on top of that maybe he would be using it as a way to gather even more data for the team engineers but idk maybe that’s cope

JJ’s vision is the correct one here. Daytona wasn’t built in a day.

@MLGProSwag69 July 29, 2024 at 9:42 pm

Anyone surprised by this wasn’t paying attention to the downturn HMS had once Jeff left the seat and Jimmie became the leader of the team. Jimmie isn’t a program builder like a Jeff Gordon/Dale Earnhardt, he was a Kevin Durant plug and play superstar who can’t drive the bus.

Reply
@gamez4420 July 30, 2024 at 2:24 am

I can’t remember who (it mightve even been Knaus) but they openly talked about how Jeff was essentially the only reason their engines were so good during that spell. He was just really gifted at describing things from a drivers POV into ways that translated to the engineers understanding what they need to do. Jimmie just doesn’t have that, he’s always been a guy that just performs well no matter what equipment he was given. If you go back and look at a week to week basis when he was at his prime, Jimmie was actually terrible at giving suggestions on car adjustments midrace

Jimmie should have stayed at Hendrick Motorsports. He could have watched how Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick run the company and then buy in on a team.

I was thinking about a 3rd Legacy car this morning. I really wish they’d have a lot of former greats driving that car. Get Carl Edwards to run it for 6 races, Jimmie for 6, Truex for whichever tracks he wants, Kenseth for some races, and then you can also use it with developing talent.

Reply
@andrewwaring3643 July 29, 2024 at 11:03 pm

I’m not sure why people thought Legacy would have a bunch of success. It’s remnants of Richard Petty Motorsports, a former truck owner, and a 7 time champ who stepped away for two years. They have to take a step back and be realistic, understand where they are. They’re the worst full time team on the grid. Look how long it took Spire and Rick Ware to be competitive. It’s not easy and it’s going to take a long time.
