Original Article Report:

NASCAR has been making huge strides and efforts to expand to being an international racing series for the top 3 division, Cup being the primary concern. Last time NASCAR did a long distance international race, they covered shipping and travel costs.

NASCAR would pay for the travel, for sure.

Beeing a Brazilian Nascar fan since 2013 and having the possibility of having a Nascar race in home soil is such a dream of mine and it could come true❤❤.

Just some facts here. The Daytona 500 was streamed online on the channel esporte na band in february got more then 1 million views and peaked if i remember 20K live viewers. (Currently 17 years)

Just look at all the Motorsport Royalty that’s come out of Brazil: Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet, Felipe Massa, Emerson Fittipaldi, Rubens Barrichello, Roberto Moreno, Carlos Pace…..
Not to mention the great tracks out there, Interlagos and Jacarepagua to name two. There is an audience there!

@Vol4Life5 August 2, 2024 at 11:51 pm

Facts! I wish Senna could’ve had a chance to test the NASCAR waters.

@otaviofrn_adv August 2, 2024 at 11:52 pm

Man, unfortunately Jacarepaguá was torn down for the 2016 olympics, the main complex was built there. It was a very very bad decision, because the place was one of the great laps of the country and could actually offer the option of oval racing (more like a trapezoid, but still) for Brazil (hosted a CART round between 1996 and 2000).
Brazil has been learning to truly embrace motorsports and not just our drivers, we had a great crowd at Interlagos for the São Paulo 6 hours, even though endurance racing is more of a team effort.
We have our fair share of history, especially on open wheel racing, always been a toast of motorsport fandom here. You mentioned why. We have 8 wins in the Indy 500, the only non US driver to win 4 times is brazilian.
I’m sure that there will be interest for a nascar race here, despite not being our biggest motorsport community. The broadcasting has been expanded here, the group that owns the rights initially had a deal only for cable, but now they are doing free-to-air and youtube too. I’m sure nascar is looking into it for consideration.

@@Vol4Life5with the CART/IRL split had Senna lived I honestly think he’d have tried NASCAR after he was done in F1.

Hello, Brazilian viewer here, just some quick context that might help understand the current situation from Brazil’s perspective:

The mayor of sao paulo that’s running for re-election this year has been pretty bullish on motorsports recently, adding a Formula E round to Sao Paulo that was a success and even became the season opener for next year.

FIA World Endurance Championship returned to brazil for the first time in 10 years attracted 70K fans to Interlagos, WEC is not even that big and it was a massive success, that’s probably one the reasons alongside the NFL Sao Paulo game that pushed Brazil up in Nascar priority.

@josebenitez6925 August 2, 2024 at 11:26 pm

I think NASCAR should bring some of their international series as support races. The Canada Series for Montreal, the Mexico Series for Mexico City, and the new Brasil Series for this new São Paulo race. Heck, the Brasil Series has 2 races in São Paulo Interlagos so I think having the international series as support races would be a good idea.

@Veline.Motorsports August 2, 2024 at 11:38 pm

I would love to see Mexico and Montreal added to the regular schedule, and one international (outside of North America) exhibition race (like they did in Japan). If it’s gonna be The Clash, I’m good with this.
