So Dillon should have slowed down for Hamlin to clear him?

from that angle it looks like denny came up on dillon’s nose

He’s running a normal racing line everyone behind them moves up on the track as well

Reply
@ba97racing August 12, 2024 at 1:51 pm

He’s at speed on the normal line, meanwhile Dillon is off pace just floundering around in the middle of the track trying to gain his composure after annihilating the 22. The 3 doesn’t have any right of way in this scenario.

You can’t take away the win now, but please address this situation moving forward NASCAR…
There must be etiquette, if it’s a sport

Reply
@Nafsllib August 12, 2024 at 2:20 pm

Why can’t they take the win away? They did it to Denny in 2022 for an extra piece of tape. They stripped Saurez of his win in Brazil for “rough driving”.

If you watch the replay, starting 200 feet before the line that starts the restart area you will see the front of the 22 car is even with the beginning of the 3’s passenger’s door. When they get to the line that starts the restart area the 22 is even with 3. Either the 3 slowed down or the 22 sped up for that to happen. It looks to me if you look at the relationship of the 3 and 22 in relation to the other cars, the 22 sped up. That gives the 22 an unfair advantage because his car has forward momentum at the line. The 22 should be disqualified for jumping the start.
Contact of the 3 and 11. Look at the position of the 3 and 11 in relation to the bottom yellow line of the track and the first lane dashed line and keep in mind that they are both still in the exit of the turn. You will see that the 3 in straddling the first lane dashed line and the 11 is at the bottom of lane 1 next to the yellow line. Now go frame by frame and watch the cars in relation to the 2 lines. You will clearly see the 11 moves up and into the 3, the 3 is NOT moving down. The 11 caused the accident.

@nflshorts2144 August 12, 2024 at 2:47 pm

Hamlin can up the track… idk why you guys are saying that’s a normal line, because yes it is. But it’s not a normal line when you’re two wide racing for the win. Yes Dillon was aggressive, but that’s nascar for you. Hamlin came up the track and if he would have stayed low, he possibly could have won the race

Reply
@interstatelube August 12, 2024 at 2:51 pm

Exactly, do folks really think Dillion should have lifted so Hamlin could clear him? Unbelievable! Hamlin or Logano would have done the same thing, had probably have at some point. They can dish it out and call it racing, but they can’t take it when someone races them.

Reply
@nflshorts2144 August 12, 2024 at 3:12 pm

@@interstatelube yep! That is exactly right! Dillon isn’t a guy who wins a lot so he has to take advantage of it when he can!

It works when Hamlin pushes Larson up the track because as much as I do like Larson, he’s really a pushover. Dillon wasn’t playing around though, he wasn’t going to let his win get stolen because of overtime

Reply
@RDGamer321 August 12, 2024 at 4:26 pm

Finally people are starting to see it, NASCAR really needs to start showing more of the overhead view because it’s the best angle for showing that Denny moved up from the embankment and Austin stayed in his line once he got control of the car.

Just like when Logano did it to Byron at Darlington… I am not a Dillon fan but if Preece could drive better Austin had the win and it should never even have had to go to Overtime… time for Preece to love to a new ride in a lower series

Not a Dillon fan ,but the #3 still shines. Should have gotten out of his way. Clearly faster and made a great move. Drive it like you stole it…
That’s why they call it racing. Lead, follow or get the heck outta the way. An RCR day…
