Do you think Denny Hamlin can still compete for the title this year?
No question
No
Not a chance
@@Dupontman627well agreed
Blaney won the championship last year from 12th so ig it’s still possible.
TRD engine department, y’all better count your days…
Agreed
@@DennyDeliversYT would you happen to be the guy I saw in Walmart?
There’s no reason why TRD should’ve ratted you out. But I’m a Bowman fan, so take the L
Yeah, TRD is always cheating or throwing money at NASCAR to get its way. Maybe it’s time the NASCAR program was handed over to TGR.
Per Bob Pockrass via X: “No reason to appeal. The reason the timing is so late is that TRD must have just realized that the winning engine from Bristol was mistakenly rebuilt instead of being inspected by NASCAR and told NASCAR about it.”
after so many months is crazy
TRD literally screwed up big time, so I can’t fault on Hamlin.
I fell to my knees and screamed in the middle of a Walmart when I heard the news☹️
I can’t fault Hamlin for this, also Hamlin can appeal to this since they didn’t do anything since IT IS TRD THAT DID IT.
But why did TRD do it?
It was a Nascar sealed long block engine.
Impossible to just make a “simple” mistake.
They ran it and they all have the same rule book. Who’s at fault doesn’t matter. It was an 11 car engine so it’s an 11 car penalty.
Bro that’s TRD
This penalty hits different because Hamlin is already 43 and i have a feeling that he might retire next year or 2026 so this could very well be his last real chance at a championship
Maybe they’ll cheat for him next year and not get caught. There’s always that hope.
Five months later?!?!?
How does NASCAR not realize they didn’t tear down an engine? Shouldn’t they have gone to TRD by the following Tuesday asking where the motor is? Hell, why not pull it at the track?
NASCAR should have known before now that they hadn’t inspected their engines
@@MichelleWatkins-h7m exactly my point. Aren’t there people whose job it is to disassemble motors wondering why their week was going so slow?
It was a sealed long block.
Every JGR and Toyota tech knew this engine could not be touched.
Hell even the hauler knows this.
Don’t put this on Nascar.
This is on Toyota
I deplore Hamlin
But this should’ve been a massive manufacturer penalty.
Unless It was all a cover for something bigger
Nascar allows drivers to reuse a race winning engine prior to full inspection. That is how it was missed

No
They don’t
W race winnings engine is sealed and must be inspected before being reused or rebuilt and it must only be put back in the same chassis it was removed from.
“Them cheatin’ Toyoters!!”
The real question about this situation is, ‘Why NASCAR doesn’t pull the engine from the race-winning car if it’s supposed to go through additional inspection?’
Because teams have the ability to rerun the engine (without modification) and the inspection requires a full breakdown
@@davidlevins7646 Okay, so if a team runs the maximum number of races on that engine before teardown, and it’s found to be illeagal, will they be penalized for all races it was used in? Alternately, how do you stop teams from taking advantage of “win and you’re in” by running a blatantly illegal engine, and then intentionally blowing that engine up in the next race?
@@mpf1947 It kind of sounds like that’s what happened. If they knew Denny won Bristol with an illegal engine, would they want Nascar to look at it?
I dont know how they can appeal. Its self reported, and Nascar said it gave them the lowest penalty possible.
It will be interesting to see what Denny has to say about this, he has plenty to say about everybody else.
Some guy on YouTube named FireballHamlin is absolutely fuming right now.
Honestly you could photoshop the NASCAR logo over Austin Dillon the Championship Trophy over the finish line at Richmond and it would sum up this penalty perfectly.
TRD: **illegally tears down engine**
Also TRD: **self-reports the screw up**
