Yes it was great that ClownCar decided that Dillon’s win doesn’t count. Even though Dillion was only playing the game that ClownCar created. There is a reason the sport is in decline and will continue to decline so long it is ran by clowns.

It still doesn’t change the fact that NASCAR’s own crappy playoff system is what caused Austin Dillion to do what he did in the first place. They should have never got rid of the Top 30 rule, letting anyone in the playoffs no matter where they are in points cheapens the playoff format. Harrison Burton’s win should be celebrated as a huge underdog win, 100th win for Wood Brothers, but it’s seen under the lenses of the playoff format because even though he’s 34th in points, he’s now in the playoffs. The playoff system needs to change for next year… Only 12 drivers make it, Top 20 rule, 16 drivers in but a Top 25 rule, something has to change or we’ll be having this same discussion at this time in 2025 and beyond.

@dianej1714 August 26, 2024 at 11:50 pm

The only person responsible for what Dillon did is Dillon himself. What makes it all even worse is that he won’t admit what he did. Neither will Richard Childress. I hope he loses his company. He’s a liar and a cheat. Also made a fool of himself at the RNC.

Top 12 only, 3 rounds. 3 race round of 12, 3 race round of 8, 4 race round of 4. Done.

Reply
@nicholasplotts5770 August 27, 2024 at 12:38 am

Or just get rid of the “Win and Your In” and make it top 16 in points and wins provide extra playoff points if you make it. That makes the kamikaze move much less likely as it removes the largest benefit from those who aren’t in a close battle to make the playoffs

Reply
@juancatfish1 August 27, 2024 at 2:05 am

You mean the most points wins the Championship. That was boring. This is much better. Look at the last two races.

NASCAR made the right call. I think Dillon’s call is what kept Bush from wiping Harrison out in Daytona.

I think you underestimate how clean a driver KB is now.

Reply
@darkknightx0992 August 26, 2024 at 11:43 pm

Kfb wouldn’t have done that either way. He’s only intentionally wrecked people in retaliation, and the last time he did that was probably more then a decade ago.

Reply
@user-uu9vh4zg5v August 26, 2024 at 11:58 pm

Absofreakinlootly. He gave him the tap that sent him below the line. Normal drafting track action. Harrison didn’t over-correct, and stayed in front. That was a clean move, but Kyle could have straight up hooked him for the win, and _didnt_ .

I also think, even in the moment, KB knew who he was racing, and what it would look like if he destroyed a Cinderalla win using Austin “SilverSpoon” Dillon’s tactics, while RCR is in the middle of an appeal.

Also, his just-out-of-the-car interview was good.

I have a low opinion of KB, but everything he did and said there sets an example for the younger drivers on how to handle situations like that. Contrast with #3’s interview after his “win”. Oof.

@ayrton42 August 27, 2024 at 12:03 am

That penalty kept Busch from wrecking Dillon? Wtf, have people gone mad? We’ve seen hundreds of drivers in that situation at plate tracks before, including Busch, And they haven’t wiped out the car ahead for the win. That’s never been acceptable. Why would Busch have done that now, Dillon penalty or not?

Reply
@dirtymoneymedia August 27, 2024 at 12:06 am

I can’t stand Kyle Busch, but the only way he’s crashing you for a win is if he’s got a vendetta against you

Reply
@liamgriffin218 August 26, 2024 at 10:52 pm

Honestly the fact that this debate has gone on for so long and fans overwhelmingly are negative about the end of that race is proof that Austin’s actions were in fact detrimental to the sport

Big shout out to Kyle Busch. Over the last two yrs he has gained my respect and admiration. The man can wheel anything and has more car control than anyone I have ever seen race. He could have taken Burton out for a needed win but raced hard and clean. I have become a Busch fan because of his turn around in his personality . He’s not in the best equipment right now but he will be back on top.
