I did not expect a team with Travis Pastrana, Bubba Wallace, and Tyler Reddick at all

Me neither

With Denny Hamlin, Micheal Jordan, and Kurt Busch behind the scenes

@Farkle8000 Two experienced drivers and someone to sign the checks

@michael Pluska I’m guessing he will run at tracks with slower speeds and not pack racing to reduce the risk of further injuries. I could see him running Bristol races particularly since he was always good there

Can’t wait to see how Larson does, hopefully top 5

Crazy how Travis Pastrana has gone from a NASCAR Xfinity driver in 2013, to entering in his first 500 9 years later. Just goes to show how much time flies.

Its all about the sponsor dollars for Pastrana no doubts !

Travis wassnt great. He’s considerd a bust for a reason. He’s far better on dirt.
But we’ll see how he does with top end equipment I guess.

I have a bad feeling Jimmie Johnson’s Daytona ride may end up on a future episode of “Liars, Thieves, and Lawyers” considering Carvana’s current situation.

Sean Wilson January 14, 2023 at 6:13 am

Similar to how Rich Energy played out with Haas F1

Aw man I got my car thru Carvana a few months ago, this better not blow up in my face. (Yes, I have my title before y’all ask).

Illuminaughti has a whole episode of corporate casket about carvana. It’s probably a year or two old but still relevant i believe

You know I fully expected a third 23xi entry but I thought it would be kurt busch with the 18 loaned out from jgr

Reply
michael Pluska January 14, 2023 at 2:35 am

Me too! I was hoping the 500 would be Kurt’s redemption race!

The #84 car looks great. Isn’t Carvana on the verge of filing for bankruptcy?

NASCAR SHOULD PUT THEM OVER THE EDGE

I hope Travis does well. I hope he can have a scheme like his subaru from this past Gymkhana to honor and remeber Ken.

Ryan Newman is trying to put a indy 500 ride together as well.

It’s cool to see Travis racing again. He should drive the 32 cause it’s the opposite of the 23

Reply
RDSk January 14, 2023 at 7:02 am

Or the 67 to continue the consecutive numbers scheme (23, 45, 67)

gatling216 January 14, 2023 at 12:48 am

Say what you will about Larson, but he’s probably one of the best pure drivers in NASCAR. A year and a half is probably the least amount of prep time needed, given the schedule he runs, but I think he could be competitive.

Conspiracy theory time: the reason his boss is willing to co-sign an Indy 500 run is because GM wants HMS to help with their F1 program, and Larson is a potential driver. He almost certainly has the points for a super license, or at the very least, has the talent to get them. F1 and Indy are way different, but they’re close enough that this run could be a back door test to see if Larson can take to open wheel racing.

The other advantage to Pastrana running for 23XI? He’ll be a 7th top-tier Toyota in a Superspeedway race where Toyota has a huge car count disadvantage.

Reply
Brandon Davis January 14, 2023 at 12:58 am

whether you like helio jimmie and travis or not if all 3 can make the 500 this will be a huge boost for tv viewership for the daytona 500 which could be up over 10 million viewers which would be over a million higher than last year daytona 500 race

If they do a Travis pastrana diecast I’ll be the first in line to grab it.

What a week. What else can I say. This looks like great news for Kurt Busch fans as Denny Hamlin said he would have a third car for select races this year when Kurt is ready to return. Well, the third car for 23XI is happening
