The only thing missing for the short track package is more horsepower!

It’s because the chumps are afraid they wont attract “new manufacturers.” Guess if you can’t make horsepower then high horsepower V8s scare you.

Nascar Will Not Increase The Power

Narrower tires are way more important. But horsepower is always nice.

@Daniel Chai this was a great remedy suggested by Jr. the other day. Glad I wasn’t the only one that caught on

Nascar asked about it and a minority of teams said no since they wanted to cut the costs

Hope this new package will race good

This new package should really help with the racing on short tracks and road courses, but wouldn’t adding more horsepower help just as well?

Nick Earl March 1, 2023 at 8:00 pm

Yes.

Id like to see 2010-11 hp. ECR was putting out right about 899 HP. Now that with the new package would be awesome

Reply
Trucker Cowboy Ed March 1, 2023 at 8:48 pm

@Nick Earl they’re not going back to 900 because of EPA regulations and cutting emissions at race tracks

Thraser999 March 1, 2023 at 11:03 pm

@Trucker Cowboy Ed EPA must be defunded…

Can’t wait to see the upcoming races for this rules package mentioned.

I would have said Corey Lajoie. Yes he is a good superspeedway racer, but we was consistently in the top 10-15 at Auto Club as well.

He’s in a playoff spot rn too

@Ethan K you know it’s early in season when that happens

He was in 3⃣ cautions, and the fault of two 2⃣.

He drove like an idiot at Fontana though.

It’s not about the journey, it’s about the destination in NASCAR.

It felt like the 2018-19 complaints about the racing fell on deaf ears so it’s nice to see nascar making changes that align with what the fans want

Thery are doing more what Drivers/Drivers sponsors want other then the Stiffness of the frame making smaller lesser impacts hurt more. Seems like that has yet to be fixed with some drivers complaining about the light bumps at the Bush Clash in the LA Coliseum feeling harder then they should.

Agree 100% …the short track racing was TERRIBLE LAST SEASON, even when at track n person, it’s hard for a race u attend n person to b kinda boring THEY PULLED IT OFF LAST YEAR MULTIPLE TIMES!(at least where the actual on track action is concerned)!

Reminder that 2018 had a 2.5 inch spoiler and 750 horsepower. You asked for closer racing and you got the 2019 550 package as a result. You didn’t like the 550 package, so NASCAR gave the Next Gen 670 horsepower. They’re _kinda_ listening.

Awesome

Dover was a good race and Bristol was good, minus the tire problems, though that looked like a ford issue mostly.

I’m assuming the tire problems will be pretty much fixed this year, and if the tires wear without failing like they did at some tracks last year, it should be a better race at Dover and Bristol.

Let’s hope the new short track package is an improvement

I just wanna see what Nascar would be like with no splitters spoilers or diffusers. Just pure mechanical grip, no reliance on clean air.

Two more drivers that are doing well (at least by my standards on how the teams are) Corey LaJoie in 13th and Cody Ware in 22nd. Didn’t think either of those guys would be close to that 2 races in

Sw Carter March 1, 2023 at 10:26 pm

CODY WARE IS AHEAD OF LARSON IN POINTS LMFAO

Reply
Griffin Conaway March 1, 2023 at 11:11 pm

Cody ware has done nothing of merit. Simply finishing above cars who crashed.

Not only has Reddick DNFed in both cup starts, he was a no show in the Xfinity race Sunday. Outside the top 10 all day. Childress must be struggling to hold back his laughter.

Byron is pretty cold right now. 29th in points, 34th place finish at Daytona and 25th at Auto Club.

not only does kyle busch have a win, he has been in contention to win if not the fastest car in every event this year. Id say it was a miss not including him on the WHO’S HOT list

I’m glad to see nascar taking steps to fix short track and road course racing. These changes are cost effective to teams and keeps the cars the same to each other as possible. They still need to objectively look that the data after some short track and road courses to see if further steps need to be taken.

Hawkszone March 2, 2023 at 12:22 am

Just an FYI – Daniel Suarez had a tire go down with 2 laps to go at Daytona. He didn’t just spin out of a “mistake”.

Reply
Trailing Rails March 2, 2023 at 1:49 am

I really hope the experimentation with grooved tires bears fruit. They really need a smaller contact patch more than anything.

Josh Patrick March 2, 2023 at 2:12 am

This is probably the best news I have heard from this season so far. Rain tires on most short tracks (obviously road courses) and positive feedback from drivers with adjustments to the spoiler. Hopefully this produces better racing and more passing. Only time will tell.

Great analysis, just a note: The width of the car at the wheels is called Track. The distance between the front and rear axles is called Wheelbase.
