I have to say, this Daytona 500 probably has the craziest entry list I’ve seen in a few years.

what would be the biggest shot in the arm for Gibbs is if Oracle decided to sign anyway but with rcr. Imagine how that would go

You can’t look past the fact that the replacement option for Kyle also has his name on the building…

the smaller open teams are gonna be in trouble this daytona 500 with all these big teams entering extra cars. id say its guaranteed that 2 of the top teams will take the first 2 spots in single car quali. to be completely and brutally honest, if im MBM, i dont enter this years 500, the field just seems like its gonna be too stacked with top tier open cars to justify the very real possibility of not getting in

Believe that JGR’s sponsorship strategy is vastly different than RCR. Eric spoke about it before. That, and the business environment just isn’t the same. RCR would love to have that 1 or 2 major sponsors for Kyle Busch.

They should absolutely expand the 500 field.

rta won’t allow and if 3 more open cars than 4 that delutes what more open teams do get since the 36 charter teams get most of the money

Here could be the open car lineup for the Daytona 500:
84 Jimmie Johnson (confirmed)
62 Austin Hill (confirmed)
Travis Pastrana 23XI (all but confirmed)
MoneyTeam (whether with Castroneves or someone else like Connor Daly who is already scheduled to run some race with the team)
MBM (usually fields 2 entries)
Carson Hocevar For Niece (rumored a while back)
Zane Smith (confirmed but ride TBD)
Team Hezeberg (potentially 1 or 2 entries with either Hezemans, Kvyatt, or Villaneuve)
3F Racing in the 30 (bought the assets from NY Racing but no driver or confirmation yet if there is one)
Team Stange in the 79 (if that team even exists)
13 Kaulig Racing (Either Hemric, Cassill, or Chandler Smith)

@realbaron5714  yes please! Sadly I wasn’t a nascar fan when they did this but I have played nascar 2011 where they did.

@Vell Baria Official i would say 13 for hemric. He showed some speed in 23xi Phoenix. And out of the driver to go up to Cup next I feel it would be him.

Does NASCAR still have the Past Champion Provisional? If so wouldn’t that lock Jimmie in so there would only be 3 open spots? I think NASCAR needs to make the 500 a traditional 43 car field every year but only that race, but I’ve thought that since they dropped it to 40.

I would be ok with some tracks being up to forty three car field and having a so much of the pace of car in the 40th grade position cut off

Oh yeah, the Clash; that Nascar event that is supposed to introduce people who normally don’t watch Nascar by giving them an event that is UNLIKE anything else that Nascar does EVER! It’s like trying to get people into surfing by taking them to a skateboarding event. Hated it last year, not sure I’ll even watch it this year.

No no no. The running theme was that sponsors didn’t want Kyle Busch. Even TRD president david Wilson said kyles personality makes it challenging to get sponsors. The sponsors at RCR are ALL new to Kyle. They didn’t have to stay onboard, and wouldn’t if they didn’t want their brand tied to him. So let’s not move the goal-post…

I know I’m old, but I’ve never heard of any of these entertainers! I’m curious about how many nascar fans in general know these entertainers! No dig, just wondering! I hope they put on a great show!

I am very happy for Kyle to have a new sponsorship, and yes you will have to ask questions of JGR.
What I think is at some point mid season they decided that Ty is the future and to hell with everything else.

But the major question is how much money is new sponsorship bringing in, compared to what’s M&Ms was bring in

Zazubaar January 16, 2023 at 9:32 pm

I wonder which sponsor and scheme will become most identifiable going forward. That old M & M’s apparel will always be the peak. I wonder if anything can click as the new singular Kyle Busch look

Don’t forget Eric that RCR was not only able to keep all of those existing sponsors but Cheddar’s extended the number of races that they sponsored this car compared to last season because of Kyle and that says a lot as well. The bottom line is Joe Gibbs did not try to keep Kyle and this new announcement clearly proves that and there have also been hints that there will be more announcements regarding sponsorship for this season and also the future for Kyle..

Rock musicians would be the perfect genre because it goes with the sport and with fans of all ages from all places. The problem is that we don’t really have ‘rock’ music anymore.

The 2023 Daytona 500 is going to be the most anticipated Daytona 500 in years. I hope that the race won’t become a snooze fest or a disappointment in general. We all know that Kyle will tear it up and rub it in JGR’s face like he did to Hendrick back in 2008, right?

As a JGR fan, I am split on their strat. On the one hand, I like seeing the same sponsors on the same car more/less each week. It helps me keep track of who’s who.
On the other hand, only having one/two primary sponsors means that you NEED them to be willing to fork over a large sum of money, and based on what drivers/others have said, NASCAR sponsorship is not as profitable as it once was.

As a KB fan, JGR tried. They tried their hardest, within the limitations of their gameplan. It sucks that said gameplan isn’t as good as it used to be.

And apples are better than oranges, mostly because I’m allergic to oranges, so I have to say apples are better.
