If Chevy did stop running the Camaro in NASCAR, what model would you like to see instead?

With the Camaro being removed from production in 2024, does this mean that the Corvette will be the vehicle choice for Chevrolet (Grand Sport in Cup and Z06 in Xfinity)? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

No way. A Corvette based NASCAR car would slaughter the rest of the field because of the aerodynamic advantage it would have.

no, it does not.

This is really upsetting, I love the Camaros in NASCAR, They are the best looking car! They well be greatly missed. I hope Chevy doesn’t put something too bad.

From Bob Update after checking with NASCAR on interpretation of rules: Because the Camaro was a production vehicle at the time of its original submission, it remains qualified to race in Cup and Xfinity even beyond 2024 if Chevrolet chooses to do so.

@John Haas the only issue with that is you won’t be able to buy a brand new one from a dealer by then, honestly the most likely outcome is they debut a new generation Camaro and then change the stock car accordingly.

Nascar was built on full frame race cars. The SCCA and trans am is where unibody Cars raced. Camaro’s dont belong in the top level series that was founded on full frame stock appearing car bodies. At least the lumina and thunderbird had to use stock hood, roof and trunk from the original vehicle in production.

Hey Eric, i want you to know you’re my go-to Nascar news guy. I also really like Cota. You get to see some of the talent cream rise to the top. Lol. Maybe some of these All-Star Ringers will mix up the top 5 this Sunday.

It’s interesting timing as they just came out with new cars in the Supercar series in Australia. Odd that they’d bring out the Camaro a year before the car goes away.

Why can’t NASCAR make a whole or campaign about the versatility of their schedule. Could basically say the schedule proves these are the best drivers in the world.

With the new car being more coupe-like in its proportions, you might be able to dress it up as one of those four-door-coupe crossovers like the Mach E without it coming out looking too cursed. Maybe the roofline will be modified in a few years to eliminate what’s left of the decklid, and then we’ll just have crossovers in the cup series, although I don’t know what that will do for the aero. They’ll either be amazing or undrivable. Maybe GM will convince NASCAR to allow concept cars, kickstarting a new aero war that quickly spirals out of control.

Regarding Crossover Drivers, I started paying attention to NASCAR because of AJ Foyt. I was a huge AJ fan and his running and winning Daytona captured my attention.

I would have bought a Camaro SS this Summer had I not gotten into an accident a month ago, had to settle for an Elantra N because of it. Really gonna miss seeing them on the track…

Edit: Ross probably has extra melons in case he wins the truck race.

I personally think that COTA is one of the finest tracks in the US, after all, it’s a huge event for F1.
