He sounded like his bell was rung in his interview, glad to see they’re taking the right precautions and letting him heal up.

I agree as he acted like he couldn’t really focus on what he was saying.
Legacy seems to be really taking shots one way or another lately with penalties, trashed cars and now this.

@JD WhtSpeech recognition on the speaker’s part is a sign of potential TBI.

You could tell after the wreck that he wasn’t acting right, I had a feeling this would happen. The cars have got to change!!

Drivers accept the risks when they sign up for racing. They make a crap ton of money from the dangerous sport they have signed on with. It would take bubble wrap to make them completely safe.

They have, he hit a ton on the drivers side. If this was the 1990s or early 2000s he would be in bad shape. Racing will never be totally safe. No matter what nascar does that will not change. I’m sure they will continue and try and make them better. They fixed the rears already, now they just made big changes. Drivers know the risks. Nobody is making them do this. I hate to see his got a concussion. Condidering how hard he hit I’m glad that is all it is. This was a very hard driver side hit.i wouldn’t call Noah’s crash a routine crash.

Prayers for a quick and speedy recovery. That was a vicious hit watching it on tv

What a bummer! I feel especially bad for him since this is one of his favorite tracks.

Really hoping these new safety adjustments that are set to debut at Atlanta will fix these safety injuries once and for all.

John Haas June 8, 2023 at 7:46 pm

Still going to have safety related injuries because you cannot get a car 100% safe unless you wrap the driver in bubble wrap

A fear that i have with all of these safety changes is that the car is as fragile as the gen 6 car and light contact with the rear or any side of the car means youre on pit road for 1 lap or 2 trying to get your aerodynamics back, or you cut a tire, maybe just me though, i hope the car doesnt become gen 6 car fragile

Andrew Johnson June 8, 2023 at 8:08 pm

the safety improvements will do nothing for this kind of impact sadly, there isn’t much that can be done. This hit will likely always have an effect on the drivers. They need to work on the head rests to absorb more of the impact, and that’s coming from Dale Jr.

@John HaasThis car is not very safe though. It was built too stiff.

Easy E Network June 8, 2023 at 9:13 pm

@NoahCreatesWho cares at this point? The car needs to be safe, not durable. Safety trumps durability.

This team just can’t catch a break this year! Hope Gragson recovers quickly, and that this doesn’t happen again anytime soon.

I agree what next for Legacy? The shop burns down.
Would like to see them have some good news for them this season.

Noah didn’t look/sound right during the post crash interview. I’m glad he will be sitting out. I wish him well.

Out of all the concussion crashes so far, this one was the hardest, and this is after they fixed the crush zone. I’m glad NASCAR is finally making safety improvements to the next-gen, but it looks like we still have a ways to go. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Noah.

Nothing that can be done about this hit really. It was the slap of the drivers side that did it. Can’t really have crush panels on the drivers side unless they move the driver to the center of the car like a prototype or open wheel car. That about the only way to fix that hit so you can have crush panels.

SuperTornadoGun June 9, 2023 at 1:15 am

@Andrew Johnson more than a slap, he hit pretty damn hard

Easy E Network June 9, 2023 at 1:56 am

This is the one crash everybody knew had injured a driver. I figured he would be concussed. Think I even said that maybe.

Reply
Easy E Network June 9, 2023 at 1:57 am

@Andrew JohnsonI think this hit would injure a driver regardless of generation. Driver’s side, hard into the outside wall, and at a fairly high speed at a flat track.

Reply
Easy E Network June 9, 2023 at 1:57 am

@SuperTornadoGunI bet if we see the in-car camera, his head probably slammed the head rest hard.

Won’t lie, Gragson’s crash definitely gave me flashbacks to Jimmie Johnson’s crash at Pocono. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

It’s crazy to me that this is what Noah Gragson feared of happening after he won Texas last fall. Get well soon Noah Gragson and good luck to Grant Enfinger

Yes he wasnt happy subbing in the 48 last year i remember.

Reply

Crazy how he said when he was filling in last season for the 48, he was scared to go full out cause of these cars. Gets a full time ride, gets a concussion.

Alex June 8, 2023 at 8:21 pm

Seeing the crash that Gragson experienced on Sunday brought up memories of Johnson’s Pocono crash in 2017. It makes me start to wonder if Johnson raced with concussion-like symptoms, and the reason his performance declined the way it did towards the end of his career is because he never sought treatment. Who knows.
Still, I hope Noah takes his time to recover; that was a vicious hit.

Yeah, I’m not surprised. That hit was so massive I felt it almost the entire way up the stands and pieces of tire flew in the stands, hell, my dad who was getting food under the stands felt it. It really stinks that a future prospect is out for probably a few weeks.
