I still remember that crash. I thought there was no way he could walk away from that horrendous of a crash.
I was only 8 at the time of this crash and I still remember watching this live at my grandparents house. The car before #00, Gilliland I believe, had blown an engine and McDowell was the first car to go over the speedy dry at qualifying speed. I have a theory that’s what helped the car snap loose entering the corner.
He walked away fine but bowman got a concussion from a little tap
Bowman walked away too
Because of a wrongly built car.
I was watching this live. I thought he was dead
