This race was actually… good. Solid Texas race, thought I’d never see the day

It would’ve been boring af without Yeley’s caution.

Loved the blocking that was happening all race. If you missed 1 corner, a car going faster would pass you in the next 3-4 corners because of how momentum is at the track. This next gen car at some of these” cookie cutter” are actually pulling off food races.

It surprised me. Texas is normally a track I completely skip when they run there.

Here’s an interesting fact about Ricky Stenhouse Jr. this race. He was the only driver to not wear a cool suit during the hottest Texas race ever, being at 100⁰, and he drove it home to a Top 10 finish, in 9th place. What a legend!

He became a big chad today

Not to mention that his Average Running position was 23rd

He had a helmet fan. It’s not as good but still extremely effective

Reply
StewieGriffinFanProductions1999 September 25, 2023 at 2:44 am

@feeb please don’t try and discredit what he was able to do dude. Regardless if he had a helmet fan or not, it was still very impressive.

Biased, but I feel like Suarez made a great comeback after spinning out! Woohooo Suarez!

As a Hendrick fan, this win was very special!!

That’s a major accomplishment in Nascar. 300 wins by a team is a major feat and the one and only Rick Hendrick.

Byron is Gordon’s new goldmine the 24 speaks for himself

Yep. And,,,Jeff just happened to be the guy that brought Jimmie to Hendrick. Jeff Gordon is a boss and a legend!

I think it’s really funny how Eric mentions how unpredictable Texas is, but he also predicted the right winner

Pretty much fucked bubba out of a win so not really impressive. Especially since slid back anyways

Reply
Stevie Giamalis September 25, 2023 at 2:38 pm

@Odd Damian what do you want him to do? Like obviously he’s gonna try to win on a late race restart, and he’s been the best at those this entire season. Hate the win as u may, but Byron has had some really clutch moments this year

William has best average finish at mile and half track this year

Finally got to see the 24 car win in person, its not Jeff Gordon but I’ll take it. Now i just want to see Chase Elliott win in person as my new favorite driver after Gordon.

Reply
David S September 25, 2023 at 3:14 am

Took me many of years and races to see Gordon win in person and happen to be his last win

Reply
Alpha24 September 25, 2023 at 3:21 am

@davids5006 since I only have ever been to Texas, I didn’t get to go see his 2009 win. I was 6 then. so those 2014 races were the closest I ever saw. And those were rough, 2nd on a last lap pass by Logano and then the fight with Brad

Scout22 September 25, 2023 at 2:28 am

I know this isn’t important to this race in particular but Penske needs to get things together or else their gonna end up like SHR. Once again they were no shows. Cindric was 30th all race, Blaney was 20th-25th until his team used some pit strategy and despite only 26 cars finishing (2 of which having damage) Logano still finished 21st. Unbelievable how slow they have been after winning the championship last season

Mike loves drawing September 25, 2023 at 4:11 pm

I think Penske is too focused on Indycar and lemans!

Reply
Bryon Kidder September 25, 2023 at 4:15 pm

They let the wrong driver go, Roger should’ve kept Keselowski and got rid of Logano…imo

Also if Penske and SHR Keeps this up. DODGE Coming back might not be too unrealistic

Reply
Alex September 25, 2023 at 2:28 am

I’m not an SHR fan, but I found it pleasant to see Briscoe run up front again during the second half of the race. It’s been quite a while since he was there for an extended period of time (and finish Top-10) and not 25th through 30th like he’s been most of this year. Hopefully he’ll be up there a little more next year.

Reply
Jennifer Graham September 25, 2023 at 4:22 am

I hope SHR gets it together for next year . I was really hoping that they gave Kevin a deep playoff run chance, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Ross Chastain was 100% a top-5 car today. He just kept doing the wrong pit strategy all day.

He finished ahead of Wallace pretty much every time it mattered besides Stage 1 when Wallace was one spot ahead of him.

Top 5 in speed were probably ..

Larson
Hamlin
Chastain
Wallace
Jones

Andy Harman September 25, 2023 at 2:32 am

I keep thinking that Hamlin will find a way to choke himself out of the Championship.

I was sure Larson was going to win. He had .3 seconds on everyone else. Then I about had heart failure when he crashed out in the battle with Bubba.

It Wasn’t Me September 25, 2023 at 5:23 am

Nope I think Larson has taken that over. I’m rooting for him but he flat out makes way too many mistakes to be called the top driver. A man has gotta know his limitations

Yon Bonjour September 25, 2023 at 4:41 pm

@Jonathan When someone you were with for many years dies it still affects you even if you’re not together anymore, especially when the breakup only took place a few months ago. More than likely they broke up so he could move on easier once she passed, and not because they were having traditional relationship issues.

Reply
Jonathan September 25, 2023 at 5:10 pm

@Yon Bonjour YES I understand that,And I’m sure it affected him. I was just stating to the other commenter that they weren’t married or together any longer. Or did you not bother to read the other comments?

The 1 was running up in the top 10 right up till they had trouble with the Throttle position sensor. He stalled coming off pit road. Ended up in 25th. Upbtill that point he was having a good race.

Can we address the fact that I’m sure truex is distracted with the death of Sherry. He’s a quiet and private guy and I’m sure knowing what he knew probably affected his performance the past several weeks. Rip Sherry. We love and miss you. We know she’s a fighter and that has worn off on Martin. Don’t count the 19 car out. He hasn’t had the barest 4 races in the playoffs but that’s understandable considering. He will come through the adversity and persevere. It’s what Sherry did and she manage to light the fire under him before. The fire is lit now. Results just haven’t shown it yet.

Reply
Mac 1666 September 25, 2023 at 3:17 am

Oh, yep. I knew that she was battling cancer for years with Martin by her side. I guess they broke up earlier this year but I’m sure Martin has to bee feeling it. God rest you Sherry.

Reply
Ryan Hagadorn September 25, 2023 at 12:16 pm

@Mac 1666 I believe, with no evidence, that the reason they “broke” up was her cancer had gotten to a point where she knew she was gonna die and she wanted him to move on. I think her health finally failing and her passing has MTJ not focused on racing at all. Which I am fine with. Sherry was clearly someone MTJ loved dearly.

Bryon Kidder September 25, 2023 at 4:20 pm

It must be tuff to have your publicist tweet your goodbye message about your ex-girlfriend?…wtf
If Truex would’ve posted his goodbye himself, it would’ve probably just been a sad face with tears?
I think you give Truex way too many excuses for his performance, he doesn’t care about Sherry anymore…btw

I was out there just past T4. To say it was hot is sssuuccchhhh an understatement. It was brutal. As a Chastain fan I sure was impressed to see him come back from the dead in this race. Wife is a Byron fan so this race couldn’t have been better for us.
