The Busch Light Clash At the Coliseum is closing in on its final event of the current 3 year deal between NASCAR and Los Angeles. Now, with the hype for this rebranded event at a low, many are looking at this event in question again. It could end up staying but it also could go elsewhere, many thinking it could return to Daytona International Speedway. No matter what the solution is it all leads to the same question for most. What is the future of the Clash?

What would you like to see the future of the Clash look like?
Itd be nice for it to continue existing at all
Daytona would be the best
@@NASCARisthegoatNascar123-rr1juYeah.
have it held at twin ring motegi oval, No restrictor plates, have single file restarts like old nascar. Love me or hate me I’m just throwing out a crazy Idea nascar might see.
Bring it back to the daytona road course Like in 2021, Like this reply if you agree
I want to see the clash go back to daytona and be a race to commemorate pole sitters again. If you don’t sit on the pole, you’re not in the race. And also maybe have a B main race prior to the clash where only the winner advances, kind of a wild card addition. That last bit is kind of a gimmick, I know, but it would be a neat addition
NOBODY is going to watch a race with less than 10 cars
@@jabber1990 they did for years in the past and it also makes it that much more of an incentive to actually go out and try to get the pole.
I remember thinking only 12 or so cars would be in it my first full season, then learned former winners were also allowed, which FOX probably pushed so Dale Earnhardt would be in their first broadcast.
@@nighthawk_s5504 they race single-file with 40 cars, we’re supposed to believe they won’t with less than 10?
@@jabber1990 calm down and go back in your hole Debbie downer. If you don’t like it, move on. We don’t need your doomer mentality of always doubting and being negative.
Take the clash on the road to different venues each year….but not typical NASCAR venues. More like local tracks. For example have a Clash at Lebanon Valley Speedway. Dont just try to dominate those big city markets. Also this will help bring nascar back to its roots
Yes, but no dirt racing. As much as I love it, this generation of cars sucks on dirt. Go to Oswego Speedway instead.
The clash should race at St. Petersburg, Miami’s F1 circuit, or have a street race at Long Beach. There’s a lot that they can do. The short track definitely needs to be fixed.
Or just piggyback off F1 or Indycar and have a doubleheader weekend…
I think they should do what the NHL does in the preseason where they go to a local rink and give money to support local hockey in that area. Have the race at a local short track somewhere across America. Logistics need to be ironed out, but I think it can work.
I know it’d be worst case scenario, but my mind goes back to that game where the Red Wings got to Toronto a half hour before the game, which was already pushed back because of the weather.
The Clash I feel was moved to LA not only for the Super Bowl that year, but to mask the fact that SoCal wouldn’t have any racing once Fontana was converted into TexTucky. They were gonna ax it in 2023 for 2024 but acclaim of the NextGen pushed those plans back a year. Now that TexTucky is starting to gain steam, they might not need the Clash a bit longer. Remember, SoCal is NASCAR’s most coveted market outside the SoUS, shown with 3 attempts at racing being done (Riverside, Ontario, Fontana). With F1 encroaching in, they cannot afford to mess up the 4th attempt at this point. Maybe replace the Clash for the Long Beach street circuit. After the success of Chicago, they should go to Long Beach as a triple-header (F1 Friday, IndyCar Saturday, NASCAR Sunday) and upshow the open-wheelies. After all, a car that only turns left beat Ferrari at Le Mans
TexTucky?
@@andrewalvarez8 TexARSE and Kentucky, the worst speedways in NASCAR. After 26 long years, Auto Club is being transformed into a mixture of both, with the long snoozefests that Martinsville and Bristol have this generation
Run it at New Smyrna, the facilities are already there, its a local short track, and its very close to Daytona, its a win win for everyone.
Honestly, it should move around every year and be in a different stadium so that way it feels more special to the area. For example, maybe have it in Miami or Tampa
Here’s my crazy idea for The Clash in 2025: Make it so only pole winners from the previous season and past Clash winners are eligible, have it be 50-75 laps long and hold it at Daytona the weekend before the 500
…and so we’re just going to forget about the 7 car fields they used to have?
There are reasons why they stopped doing this
@@jabber1990 If there’s a way to fix something, there’s a way. You’re basically giving the mentality of quitting before even trying, though. At least Playoffs haters gave the format a chance.
@@jabber1990 Well last year there were 15 different pole winners, if I counted correctly, and if you add in previous Clash winners that would result in a field of about 17 or 18 drivers
Here’s an idea: The Clash at Homestead-Miami. Here’s why. The weather is going to be good and these cars actually race good on that style of track. Plus, it’s Miami, and it’s straight down I-95 from Daytona. It’s closer for the teams. It can also kick off speed weeks in a different way while still being in Florida.
The race has also lost its meaning, and NASCAR needs to address the purpose of it. I used to go to the Bud Shootout from 1998-2002. The race had a purpose. You won a pole, you get to race for the money. There was an incentive to a) get a pole, but also the prestige of winning the event, kinda like the All-Star weekend at Charlotte. It has a purpose.
Homestead is a terrible track. It’s already bad enough that track produces boring races, so we don’t want another snoozefest race.
What I’d love is the Daytona backstretch with Arca and the modifieds the weekend before the 500 (feature races Saturday night, which then leads into some practice on Monday, and Tuesday, single car quakifying Wednesday, the duels Thursday night, trucks Friday night, xfinitt durring the day and arcs night on Saturday, and the 500 on Sunday
The airport won’t allow grandstands back there
In my view, NASCAR has two options when it comes to the Clash. One is to move it to different tracks each year so that different tracks have the chance to host it. This is also a great opportunity to see if NASCAR is actually ready to do a points paying race outside of the US for the first time by having the Clash in a foreign country & seeing if there is enough interest to do a points paying race in the future. Mexico City, Albert Park in Melbourne (where F1 races), Surfers Paradise, Suzuka & Interlagos would all be good venues to try this out. The reason why I listed mainly tracks in the Southern Hemisphere is because it is summer in those parts of the world & the weather is much better to do the Clash in as opposed to Europe where it is raining/snowing. When it comes to the format, it should revert back to being where only pole winners the previous season qualify for it. The other option is to get rid of the Clash entirely & bring back Preseason Thunder by having two weeks of testing at Daytona leading into Speedweeks that is free of charge for people to attend. The teams always complain about the lack of testing & this would fix that. NASCAR could also have a few teams enter their cars in the 24 Hours of Daytona (like what they did with Le Mans) to further build hype for the season.
I think it would be nice to keep this format and stay at short tracks but change it every year. I am a fan of this time of short track racing rather then Martinsville and such.
Rockingham is a good place to have the clash in my opinion. A unique track that isn’t high speed and would bring in viewers
In terms of stadium racing, and also a big mention of Montreal as a candidate for a race, the Olympic Stadium could potentially work. An entirely enclosed dome that already features events such as Monster Jam and apparently they’re redoing the roof so maybe this could be one way for NASCAR to enter the Canadian market.
The weather would have to be cooperative, but that’s not a bad idea.
Id like to see it back at Daytona but what if they used the clash as an international exhibition race? they have raced in Japa before, sounds like they want to do something in Europe, and with SVG and others being in NASCAR why not go and see about doing something with the V8 supercars have a double with them
Personally I think the clash or the all star (not both because that would dilute both) should be a traveling event at a old historic short track changing ever year and try and draw the short track crowd back in I’m a short track racer myself and I don’t watch every race like I did years ago and id say less then 1/2 of the people in our race community would be the same they aren’t watching but if I heard that they were going to five flags Hickory Bowman Gray, that would grab short track racers and fans attention
I think for now NASCAR should focus on bringing back an actual speedweeks. Saturday night Clash and Sunday afternoon qualifying. I just think it’s the best way to get the season started instead of a week in between the Clash and the 500. But this event definitely needs to be under the lights
There’s a lot of open-air international tracks where it’d be possible to throw an event. Could you imagine them building a racetrack on the pitch at Wembley?
With a pre race concert featuring Liam Gallagher, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and The Rolling Stones!
Honestly having the clash the day before the superbowl is a great idea.
