Eric coming in clutch
Was gonna have to fold laundry without anything to watch
Chase feels like he doesn’t want to be the most popular driver, but is stuck being the most popular driver.
I’d say that’s exactly what it is.
I mean, with how many polls I’m seeing, I don’t think Elliot is as popular as last year and the years before.
Chase is very much like dale. Basically always asking themselves what the hell did I do to get so popular… oh yeah have a famous dad that everyone loved…
I just don’t think he cares about that sort of thing and probably realizes that it really has nothing to do with him, but is about his dad.
I honestly don’t blame Chase Elliott for not wanting to be the most popular driver, his fans are so Toxic and dumb, and this is coming from a Chase Elliott Fan.
If Chase wants his personal life to be, ya know, personal. Then so be it. Who are you to say what someone should or shouldn’t do.
this is it, a nascar driver does not need to be a celebrity.
@@Gav_Jam truth be told, he is one in his own right. As long as his sponsors and race team are happy, that’s all that ultimately matters.
I kinda respect Elliot’s decision. As much as it kinda sucks, he wants to race and wants to succeed and if he feels the Netflix thing will hurt that then I respect his decision to not do it. He was so down on himself for getting hurt last season and not being able to compete. He doesn’t want something similar to happen again
Absolutely! If he’s healthy he can compete with Larson I believe as a top 3 driver week in and week out, but you can tell he’s still not healthy, so him being down on himself and seeming distant makes sense to me.
@@joshuahitt908 exactly. I mean 2022 he was the best driver and best team. 2023 he finished 2nd the race before the injury. He was starting out fast like the year before. I know it affected him mentally just as much physically knowing it was his fault for going skiing
Chase wants to be focused not distracted and who could blame him
He also doesn’t outright say no. Chase says that he would have to actually watch the show to see how he would feel about it.
@@JJA1987 apparently a lot of people do. They don’t care to put themselves in his shoes. People think he’s just having fun out there when it’s actually his full time job.
The thing is chase Elliot earned his spot as a cup series driver, something he desired. He was awarded the most popular driver which is something he didn’t try to get or really want.
The Prince of Nepotism “earned” his spot. Ok…..
@@chandlerwhite8302mate winning an xfinity championship and finishing runner up in 2 consecutive years shows he earned his stripes
@@chandlerwhite8302 I’ve seen a lot of nepo drivers, but only a few are champions. You’re allowed to feel like he hasn’t but you do have to recognize he’s done a lot to cement himself as more than bill Elliot’s son.
@@CandidStudioyou’re only a “nepo baby” if you’re a lousy driver taking up a car that a real racer should be in, racing, especially NASCAR since nearly the beginning, has always had father and son drivers, Lee and Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr, Buck and Buddy Baker, not NASCAR but Mario and Michael Andretti, plus if it’s cool when the son is as good, and even better than daddy.
Ryan blaney is who nascar needs to push as their next face. He’s willing to do whatever and is a champion
Blaney has character
Blaney isn’t that much of a personality either, but is more than Elliott
Way more than Elliott@@DannyRicBobby3
The problem is too many ppl think these guys will grab tons of headlines and bring Nascar to it’s glory years. Just isn’t going to happen.
Yes, Blaney would be better as the face, but it isn’t like he would be able to do too much. People act like he’s a rockstar because he won and has a model wife/gf. Now, put him at a small restaurant in an average town and almost nobody would recognize him.
When SVG moves to Cup he could become a face as well once he settles in
It’s not a surprise Chase doesn’t want cameras following him around all the time. I wouldn’t either
Especially when he hasn’t won in a year plus, like he just wants to get back to victory Lane and focus on NASCAR. It seems like he doesn’t want to be distracted by anything else and, that’s really how he’s always been, he really sets high standards for himself and he should.
You are Nascars most popular driver. Dude likes his check. He needs to step up and carry the sport or someone else really needs to.
@@BenMyattt he doesn’t need to, it’s the fans that vote that. Who says he wants to be most favorite driver it’s not by choice.
@@bostonwarrior4824Exactly everyone’s point! He was chosen. He needs to play the part….
@@BenMyattt no he doesn’t they have freedom they shouldn’t be forced to have cameras in their face and do stuff in there off-season this isn’t a dictator ship. It isn’t Donald Trump country. You do what you want and as a champion he should have the right to do what he wants instead of being forced to buy people like you.
You can’t get blood from a stone. Chase is most popular driver because his dad was most popular driver, and he’s remained most popular for the same reason his dad did: he’s a nice, quiet guy who wins his fair share. The kinds of things that would lead a driver to gain popularity through a Netflix-type show are not the kinds of things that Chase Elliott does. Even if he did the show, he’d only affirm his fans, not gain a huge swath of new ones. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze.
If Netflix existed back in his dad’s glory days, Bill would politely said no thanks.
Don’t blame Chase, for not wanting to have cameras following him around everywhere. He wants to go fast and compete for wins, If a netflix series gets in the way of him doing that, he is not going to want that hassle around. His father was kind of similar, soft spoken in a way. They both spend tons of time with their fans, But still want to enjoy some peace and quiet from time to time.
Elliott is a small town guy with a small town personality. He doesn’t want to be public figure and I honestly don’t blame him. However, yes he definitely should be a public figure for the sport.
Chase is cool, has a dry sense of humor, smart, and most of all, a damn good driver.
What’s a small town personality??… elaborate please
As someone who’s a Chase Elliott fan and from the same area, it’s a personality that resonates alot with most of us around here. It’s a no nonsense kinda attitude and not an outward-appearing personality. Alot of us have it around here and Chase just happens to have it too.
I grew up in Wyoming….in a town of 200 we are no nonsense….we also drank a lot and beat the hell out of each other . I am guessing it’s more like that.
I honestly don’t blame Chase for not showing his personality. He just wants to live his life, and people need to know that. Not everyone needs to show his personality.
Agreed
Maybe he doesn’t have a personality (which is fine)
Chase can do what he wants for himself. Suggesting he should do more is kinda ballsy. Imagine being great at your job and you are happy doing it while others are critical of you because you don’t push for a promotion or a management position. Let the guy be happy with his life decisions.
BS. Drivers have an obligation to fulfill sponsor requirements and grow the sport. I’d dump him for anyone who can win as much and sell more merch ASAP
He’s riding his last name harder than Jr or Petty ever did. Look at all they’ve done broadcasting and analysis. What does smelliot do? “Hehe remember my dad hey dad why don’t you do a throwback race broadcast for me so they remember who’s son I am”
@@vercingetorix444name one guy you would take over chase elliot that fills those two requirements bud. chase elliot is most popular driver for a reason
@@iisquared77 You’re right, there is none. However, he’s the most popular driver because most NASCAR fans, probably yourself included, have the intellect and panache of a bucket full of hair
I think a lot of the reason ppl like chase is BECAUSE he’s a laid back kinda guy. Ppl can relate to him.
He’s probably harder for new fans to root for, because it’s hard to learn/know him. but the ppl who do root for him like him because he seems like an everyday kinda guy.
Brother that is like 90% of cup drivers, it’s not special.
I wouldn’t want cameras following me either. Dale Jr is retired from racing and has time to do all those activities he does. Chase needs to prepare at the highest level with one of the best teams for 38 weeks a year plus testing and team requirements. Not having enough time or patience for a tv show seems very fair to me.
NASCAR fans – “Chase Elliott is the worst human for not wanting distractions like the Netflix show.”
Also NASCAR fans – “Hailie Deegan just needs to focus on racing and not all of the social media content.”
So true
Difference is Chase has talent. No one likes a talentless loudmouth.
@@jasonpalmer7798 Yeah, and no one likes the talented guy when he’s quiet. It’s opposite sides of the same coin.
Dale Jr is a household name because of his dad, he didn’t start showing personality until he retired
Occasionally his temper, lol. That’s why listening to scanner traffic on the NASCAR app is so interesting. You get to hear a bit of their personality over the team radios.
I will say this, the most popular driver title was thrust on to Chase. You just look at him and can tell he never asked for it. I like how genuine he is too, “I just want to go fast” he leaves it all on the table right there and doesnt make excuses. I am a huge Chase fan, not because of his name or who his Dad was; but because he is a damn good driver even in the slump he’s in. Just some thoughts to consider.
Everyone seems to forget how private Dale Jr was in the 2000’s. He didn’t want the spotlight, didn’t want the attention, just wanted to be left alone and be himself. It was not until the brink of retirement that Dale Jr realized what he was for the sport and what he could to do if he embraced the limelight. Chase is the same way that Dale Jr was at this period of his career.
Can’t remember which episode but dale jr even said in his podcast that if he had the opportunity to be on a netflix show during his racing career he wouldn’t have done it
That clip of Chase 100% sounds like a 2000s Dale Jr quote. Both were thrust into the spot of being the face of the sport and they just want to race.
Nothing wrong with Chase’s view on not wanting to have cameras following him around away from the track – He wants to be focused and not have distractions
