For weeks the “Greatest Day In Motorsports” has been hyped up due to Kyle Larson’s attempt at the Coke 600/Indy 500 double. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans by delaying the start of the Indianapolis 500 and then also prematurely ending the Coca-Cola 600 later that night. With a day in the rear view and hopefully emotions simmered down we need to look back at this odd night. The 2024 Coke 600 was a huge letdown.

What did you like and loathe about the 2024 Coke 600? Go off!
I hated that they waited for the track to be almost dry to call it
They Did this out of spite against Larson and Hendrick Motorsports because Rick prioritized the 500 and Larson since Ricky could never drive when he was alive.
And Jeff for a little didn’t went to CART.
Jim France and Steve Phelps yesterday managed to make Brian France look better.
As for the race, there is nothing to like it, the car is still terrible.
They didn’t give Kyle Larson a shot number two they should have ran the race today
I hate it wasnt delayed to give Larson a chance at the 1100 just cause a special someone showed up to watch, i hate it was cancelled due to humidity instead of postponed for the morning and instead was just tossed away like its just some meaningless race, and i hate that alot of long time NASCAR “fans” seemingly dont care one bit.
Exactly here’s another thing you did not say but both IndyCar and NASCAR should’ve done knowing that Kyle Larson was not going to make it in time. They should’ve started both races earlier, especially indyCar. Also, if the Indy 500 was able to finish the Daytona 500 earlier this year on Presidents’ Day, we did the Coca-Cola 600 on this Memorial Day last year in 2023. Not to mention, we moved the clash one whole day early, which is never done before and it’s a holiday today this is embarrassing. FOX Sports says we would go back racing until Mike Joy called the race at 11:30 last night not his fault personally but I felt deceit by Shannon spake Larry McReynolds and Jamie McMurray. I love them as people but they made an assumption out of themselves and they became fools. I understand that humidity did not help and we were past the halfway. I understand there has to be consistency and nothing last forever, but there was no other rain behind it and this is a crown jewel. We deserve better than this. This was one of the worst public relations moves NASCAR has ever made.
Kyle Larson deserves a refund
We all need a refund
Little Kylie is SO overrated it makes me want to puke.
I deserve one. I was there.
@@94noloSTOP WHINING!!!!
Refund for what? He didn’t have to pay to get in.
The fact Kyle larson fly all that way to Charlotte afterthe indy 500 is over just to get canceled is insane feel bad for him Justin allgaier did a solid job racing for him last night
Allgaier did a really good job all else considering last night. Having as little experience in the Next Gen as he does, to hop in at the last minute to be fitted in, and then starting 36th and finishing 13th, he did a lot more than was expected of him. I’m sure Larson could’ve contended for the win had it got going again, but a great job from Allgaier!
The rain followed him
@@jrracingteam1732 oof
Never seen a race called due to the humidity. Just don’t waste our time NASCAR.
The humidity hampered track drying efforts though
I was at the race and it was VERY humid to me but I’m from Michigan so maybe that’s normal for NC but I don’t think it should have hindered the cars ability to drive
@@Whogrl16 that’s great and all, but the track was visibly mostly dry already. I would bet if they actually tried to get the track dry (I’ve heard people in the stands only saw a couple air titans do like one or two passes total around the track before stopping entirely) they could have gotten the race restarted before 12:30, hell, maybe even before 12:00.
@.jacobevenson8702. It was drying slowly
@@jacobevenson8702expect the track wasn’t actually dry. It didn’t look dry either.
What piss me off, is not they calling the winner due to rain, it’s calling the winner after they put the air titans and drying the track, all that for nothing.
Just for that bs call by NASCAR, i put Monaco GP over Coke 600
I hate f1 but I agree with u unfortunately
The track wasn’t drying fast enought because the humidity makes it harder to dry. Also there’s a curfew for the track at 1am Educate yourself.
I was at the race, the track was dry, even nascar officials said the track is dry, nascar has no excuse for what happened, what i disappointment, if larson does the double next year ill go but if not i aint going
Fox pulled the plug
It’s just embarrassing
Terrible call by fox or NASCAR no excuse to why they couldn’t get all 600 miles in even if it went to overtime smh.
Mother Nature, Kevin Magnussen, and whoever made the call to end the race last night really ruined a legendary weekend of racing.
I swear. I was wondering why I was in such a funk yesterday and I couldn’t really put my finger on it. In hindsight, I think I was a little annoyed with all of the stuff from the races yesterday. And also not even seeing Kyle finish the double
Totally agree with you about Magnussen, there was no need for him to make that move. Those are the kinds of things that get drivers fired. Speaking of firings, it is highly likely that Estban Ocon will be fired/replaced by Alpine this week due to the incident he had with his teammate Pierre Gasly later on in that race. The team principal at Alpine was absolutely pissed after this & cursed out Ocon on the French broadcast of the Monaco GP & I don’t blame him one bit for doing so as Monaco is considered to be a home race for them.
@@chrisguardiano6143 Yea, one mistake isn’t going to cost Ocon his seat mid-season. Don’t think he’s getting re-signed next year though.
Honestly, I would blame Perez for the incident because he knew he had Magnussen on his outside because they showed him looking in his mirrors, and even with that he left no room on his right side and then left 2 carwidths on the left.
@@metricccccci say it’s a 50/50, perez didn’t give enough room but kmag could of backed out. But it’s racing just gonna have to deal with it
The racing overall was really good. They only called it because FOX had to go off air. They could’ve waited and ran the rest of the race. It was a real bummer for Kyle Larson.
Kylie didn’t start the car, so even if he came in first he would not have won it. And Fox could have switched the race to FS1 or FS2, so that was no issue.
Called it off for what? Friends reruns?
The network has nothing to do with it
Fox pulled the plug
@@chandlerwhite8302your forgetting that it leaves Canadian fans in the dust
The only good thing that came out of the larson double was knowing that he can come back and try again next year
But that’s a lot of logistics and money they have to spend again. Not saying money is a problem for them, but it’s a lot of work and people working together to make things work
After all that nonsense? I dont blame him or anyone else if nobody ever attempts it ever again
From the way Hendrick reacted to the rain, they made it seem like he may not get another chance to do this again.
The speeding penalty was the undoing of Kyle. He should have been in the top ten.
Probably a second or third, for sure
The race was good before the delay ruined it
Indy 500 was the only race that delivered
Monaco never really delivers. Saturday is awesome, but sunday sucks even more now that the cars are super reliable.
@@shawa666 While true, Monaco was especially dreary thanks to Magnussen’s Red Flag removing the pit stop requirement. Not to mention the last few years at Monaco have actually had some halfway decent (by F1 standards) races thanks to poor weather
I know it was the most disappointing day of Motorsports, but I love the maturity that Larson shows. Truly one of the greatest drivers in the world
Monaco sucked. Started with the 10 and ended the same way. Follow the leader, wait 4 hrs at Indy to start n wait some more for the end of the 600…for nothing
Mother Nature for Larson’s double was more of a letdown. I hated that the 500 and 600 were running at the same time. The worst Greatest Day in Racing in quite some time.
The Monaco Grand Prix wasn’t even good, but the Indy 500 was good it usually is
They baited and switched us simple as that! Fox and NASCAR do not care about the product as much anymore just gaslight us, Fox needs to go or be completely rebuilt from the ground up. I miss the old Fox so bad,the graphics, and presentation, the commentary we need it more than ever, but it won’t happen. Money over the product kills!
I really hope it wasn’t Fox that “called” the race, but if it was, I’d be upset that Nascar didn’t run the finish off-air. The drivers, teams, and fans in the grandstands, and above all Kyle Larson, deserved as much.
How can a broadcast network have a say on whether the event should be ended? How does FOX have the right to do that over NASCAR itself?
Probably because FOX wasn’t going to air the race if NASCAR didn’t call it before a certain time. It’s stupid but if thats the case, NASCAR didn’t have a choice
@lex4433 that’s freaking stupid. And the fact that the broadcast has a say over NASCAR, the one IN CHARGE of the product is insane. Thanks for that input
Because NASCAR aint the drawing powerhouse it was 20 years ago. If this was early 00s they would have stayed till 3 am to finish
Idk if Fox made the decision but were prolly the little voice in their ear saying they should call it. Plus fox isn’t really a partner of NASCAR, they are more just in it for a one sided relationship
They would have switch to FS1 if that’s the case no excuse.
What pisses me off more than anything, is NASCAR has had cup series races finish at like 2am before. The track was fine. This is all because someone was ready to go to bed. And FOX sucks so goddamn bad now it makes me wanna kick a puppy. The production is beyond awful.
