Busch fan here. I’m still going to root for him when I can. But RWR is also fun to root for and somehow more consistent.

I’m frustrated by the ongoing conversation about Ford’s “struggles” when, in reality, Chevrolet has faced even greater challenges. Aside from Hendrick Motorsports, consider the following: Trackhouse has generally been underwhelming, RCR has performed terribly, JTG’s performance has significantly declined this year, and Spire has been dismal apart from Hocevar. Kaulig Racing has consistently placed around 30th. Outside of Hendrick, Chevrolet’s performance has been dreadful.

@darthhull85 June 24, 2024 at 2:56 am

Only one of those typically shows speed consistently, and only half the team at that. Spire and Kaulig are always a joke and RCR is always hit or miss.

@Crush1084 June 24, 2024 at 3:02 am

I agree with everything except partially Spire. LaJoie hasn’t been dreadful, he’s part of that cluster of cars that interchangeably ends up 20th in points each week. Though Berry, McDowell and Gilliland have begun to separate themselves.

Zane Smith? Let’s not talk about him lol

Bianchi said on the Teardown he expects Loudon and Gateway in the playoffs next year. 3 flat tracks is way too many. Homestead expected in mid March.

I really hope, SOON, we get a wet weather policy in place, where NASCAR is not making up the rules as we go. Most importantly I want the teams to be able to competitively pit for new wet tires when they want, or take the chance to slicks. NASCAR stock racing in my opinion sucks out so much strategy with stages, competition cautions, etc… and the wet weather tire has come along, but they need to spend the money to test properly, and lay down a rule book. Stock the car, not the racing.

Reply
@shadytnu24 June 24, 2024 at 3:23 am

I would love to see that too, but as the NBC booth mentioned on the broadcast, competitive pit stops under wet conditions on pit road literally puts a couple hundred lives at imminent risk. Yes, there is risk in dry conditions as well, but it goes up exponentially when pit road is wet.

That said, my biggest question was, since NASCAR knew the traffic on the track would aid in the drying process, once the big puddles of water were off, did they not bring the air titans down to dry off Pit Road? It would seem 1) that should be a higher priority since there would be less traffic there, and 2) with the comparatively small area to dry, it should be a process they could have accomplished under the several yellow laps they ran before throwing the green.

I totally agree with you. Cannot have a race plan when Nascar is telling teams what tires they can use and when to change tires.

Reply
@hollygolden9673 June 24, 2024 at 12:18 pm

Exactly! They ruined this race by running so many laps under caution and dictating the pit stops like they did. I was so stunned when they kept on with that micromanagement. Ruined the race.

Reply
@stormix5755 June 24, 2024 at 2:47 am

This was one of the most entertaining races of the year IMO. It was boring up until the rain hit, then we saw some insane racing. Josh Berry passed 16 cars in a couple of laps. I really wish NASCAR allows teams to make strategy on wet tires because that would be so much fun. NHMS in the wet reminded me of Bristol earlier this year.

The Next Gen absolutely can race well on short ovals. You just need to change the tire/grip equation. Whenever there’s rain or Bristol tires the racing is legendary.

@@OldsmobileCutlass1969Va agreed. Best thing they could do is send Hill away, go down to one car in cup and open a third charter in Xfinity. Put Austin and Ty in Xfinity RCR equipment, and if they still can’t cut it, move them to management or PR. If they can cut it, then that’s great. I for one would be interested in watching the Dillon brothers battle it out for a NASCAR title. But it will never happen in cup.
