In the wake of his hospitalization, NASCAR racer Kyle Busch‘s family has issued a statement and provided an update on his “severe” illness.
The statement was issued on Busch’s social media account. He reportedly experienced a “severe” illness that will keep him out of action at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“Kyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization. He is currently undergoing treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway,” the statement read. “We ask for understanding and privacy as our family navigates this situation.”
When was Kyle Busch hospitalized?

The statement does not disclose when Busch was hospitalized. However, it was likely recently, since he is currently undergoing treatment.
However, it has since been reported that Austin Hill will be subbing in for Busch during the Coca-Cola 600 event. Of course, Busch’s place on the team isn’t in jeopardy. Hill is merely filling in for him as he recovers.
Throughout his illustrious career, Busch has accomplished it all. Busch is a two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, and he has also won the Southern 500, Coca-Cola 600, and was the Daytona 500 pole position winner in 2026.
He currently drives No. 8 for Richard Childress Racing. He is coming off a 21st-place finish in 2025. His last race was during Go Bowling at The Glen on May 10, 2026.
In addition to his racing career, he was formerly the owner of his own racing team. Kyle Busch Motorsports was co-founded with Busch’s wife, Samantha, in 2010.
Busch is also a big professional wrestling fan. He won the 24/7 Championship by pinning R-Truth in 2019. He’d later lose the belt back to R-Truth.
Racing runs in the family. Busch’s older brother, Kyle, is a former NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion (in 2004). He last competed in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2022.
