I think I read on Twitter that the telecast ran long and he was told to keep it short.

I’m trying to give him a pass, he is young and he really hasn’t had all that much time to process the moment and they are shoving a mic in his face. Honestly, at his age he probably just wants it to be over with.

Sammy Smith is age 18 years and roughly 8 months old as of today. Joey Logano won his first Xfinity (then-Nationwide) series race at 18 years, 21 days at Kentucky in 2008. Nice try.
