Everyone involved seemed to have major damage in that wreck!

Busch got zero
Gibbs slight contact w/ A.Dillon
All three still good

Replay shows the smallest gap between the 4 and the 1 when the 4 got loose. It was close but there was NO CONTACT before Harvick got loose

Reply
Caleb Bannister March 19, 2023 at 10:26 pm

He was bumped.

Reply
Speed Stat March 19, 2023 at 10:48 pm

@Caleb Bannister I initially thought so too, but I saw the small gap. Harvick got loose then Ross bumped him. It was so close that Harvick himself couldn’t tell

Imagine if he went up the track into Hamlin right after spinning harvick spinning Hamlin without getting damage. That would’ve been fun

What about Bubba’s early race spinout?

Reply
Dick Nd balss March 20, 2023 at 12:03 am

@LeviCPC it’s a spin dosent count as a wreck

I love chastain but I feel for other drivers who were involved in that because a chance for victory or good finish was taken something from them that that can’t get it back today. When I heard I thought was it really necessary for Chastain?

Reply
Mike McElligott March 19, 2023 at 10:08 pm

@Wing Walker yes and Clint called it back. Quite clear and Ross’s in car shows how loose the 4was

Reply
blowncopcar March 19, 2023 at 10:09 pm

It’s never necessary for him but he does it all anyway

Reply
Kyle Raymer March 19, 2023 at 10:10 pm

This has always been a no no at tracks like this. When you get that close in a corner, you take the air off the spoiler and it never goes well. I can remember guys doing this to each other back in the day to spin guys. Unfortunately it’s just something Ross is going to have to learn and be better at.

Reply
Wing Walker March 19, 2023 at 10:13 pm

@Mike McElligott  yeah right after Chastain car scraped across the center he was loose as fk instantly

Reply
ODzone101 March 19, 2023 at 10:19 pm

@Kyle Raymer yes anyway I was pulling for keselowski to win this race but congrats to Joey logano

I was not happy w/ Chastain all last year, but this wasn’t really a dump. Maybe a bad push, but every driver has done that at one point or another.

Bald_Leprechaun March 19, 2023 at 9:54 pm

Thats what happens when you try to turn a track like Atlanta into Daytona or Talladega. Atlanta is too small for that kind of pack racing. But hell thats what Nascar wants. It’s all about entertainment not racing.

Reply
Nicholas Schau March 19, 2023 at 10:43 pm

@Bald_Leprechaun Why is a caution-free race better?

Reply
Bald_Leprechaun March 19, 2023 at 11:20 pm

@Nicholas Schau because it’s called racing. Not demolition derby.

Reply
Nicholas Schau March 19, 2023 at 11:31 pm

@Bald_Leprechaun So it’s not racing if there is crashing?

Reply
Bald_Leprechaun March 19, 2023 at 11:51 pm

@Nicholas Schau no its not. Look at Indy Car, F1, IMSA and so on. If you wreck someone intentionally or rub another racer where it causes a wreck you will be penalized but not in Nascar. The casual Nascar fan loves wrecks. A TRUE NASCAR FAN does not. A TRUE NASCAR FAN does not like watching the cars go around a track at pace car speed for half the race.

Reply
Nicholas Schau March 20, 2023 at 12:04 am

@Bald_Leprechaun F1 and Indycar penalize contact because accidents tend to be more severe and dangerous. This is also why NASCAR drivers are generally more aggressive and prone to bump and make contact with other drivers. This, of course, has been NASCAR’s main appeal to fans for its entire existence. But of course, more bumping necessarily equals more crashing. So, should a true NASCAR fan also disapprove of contact between cars?
I agree with the bit about half the race being caution. That Xfinity race was ridiculous. What they needed was practice and it wouldn’t have been such a wreckfest.

D Z March 19, 2023 at 9:56 pm

Old Atlanta: fast but abrasive and bumpy surface that pushed the cars, drivers and teams to their limits

Nascar: let’s turn it into another plate race/wreckfest!

What a joke this series is anymore.

Prismfire Productions March 19, 2023 at 10:26 pm

they made a special mix for the asphalt that is going to rapidly wear down, give it a couple of years and we will be back to the old school bumps

Reply
Ben Aube March 20, 2023 at 12:29 am

In rare defense of NASCAR, it’s not their decision what happens with the track. Atlanta is owned by SMI, who also owns and is renovating Texas. Perhaps NASCAR has influence on the repave, but this is ultimately SMI’s choice to turn Atlanta into this product.

Reply
PILATUS1968 March 19, 2023 at 9:58 pm

so when is nascar going to start penalizing the one that causes wrecks and put him in the back of the field before going green again, or at the end of the race if he causes the leader to crash the leader should get the win, its bs that a guy works all day to get up front and some idiot comes and wrecks the whole day for him.

Evo -SkyCat- March 19, 2023 at 10:16 pm

so its the 1’s Fault for 4 getting Loose.. 1 never hit him.. just taken the air out from behind him like SOOOO MANY OTHERS DOOOO EVERY RACE! lets just make it so if you get close to someone’s safe space you are DQ you want that???? 4 was loose and it showed… he moved to block the lane (SuperSpeedway Style) and it bit him…
