Harvick is the only one of those 8 drivers at the finish still competing (full time) that’s a weird thought

If the next gen cars can recreated it that would be wild

Crazy to think out of all of those top 8 guys in that race, Harvick is the only full time guy left, and he’s retiring this year

At least the tandem racing required some more sort of skill and talent and there was pure passing you could do on you’re own to during it if we had this again I can assure superspeedways would have less crashes and more racing

I miss tandem drafting. More lead changes and more drivers leading the race even if for one lap.

I read that Kyle Larson’s Daytona crash was a big part of them getting rid of tandem drafting. How much truth is there to that?

it was more of an scapegoat, nascar had been actively trying to break the tandem for a year up to that point, and you still got wrecks as big in pack racing (look at austin dillon’s crash), problem (for nascar) with tandem was that it gave a spread out field and small wrecks rather than big packs and big crashes

Petition to have 1 Daytona and Dega race to have the tandem drafting each year. The Daytona race is august already sucks anyways so why not try it

Tandem racing was awesome. I don’t necessarily want it back but I sure did enjoy the time we had it in the sport.

Something so strange to me to see what was my childhood races growing up and are now deemed “classics” “rewinds” “throwbacks” etc. It was twelve years ago and yet here makes me feel old

Also, near everyone I hear drivers, fans, etc all want the tandem racing back. They seriously need to bring it back.

Definitely my favourite style of racing at this big track! I so wish it would come back and get rid of this giant pack racing.

I wish they would bring the two car tandem drafting back for the Atlanta motor speedway races

Did Daytona ever have this type of tandem racing? I’m actually not sure. How about for the Nationwide cars at Daytona?
