That was a very good race with a terrifying crash at the end but congratulations to Michael McDowell on the win

I thought McDowell caused the wreck, but after watching the slow mo, it clearly was Logano’s block that started it. Congratulations to McDowell, and that helmet is freaking awesome.

@l j McDowell didn’t do anything wrong if logano didn’t block there would not have been a wreck if any thing logano is main cause of this wreck and I’m glad McDowell got the win he’s a great driver

Many fans accepted McDowell’s victory, but I don’t think it was a good win.
That push will surely spin the car.
Logano made a blocking move, but did not change his line at the moment of the hit.
If Logano and McDowell had been swapped, everyone’s reaction would have been different.

McDowell pushed Keselowski, Logano blocked them and he and Keselowski lost the control of the car.

@Isaac Arango Logano didn’t change his line at the moment of the hit.
He just changed his line a few seconds ago.

I mean can you really Blame Logano though? It’s the Daytona 500! I’d be swaying back and forth blocking with my life!!!

It’s a shame that the wreck happened in fourteen laps in. It would have been a hell of a Daytona 500 because the beginning was action packed until that lap

Saw it happen on TV. Erik Jones would’ve been able to continue if Kurt hadn’t severely damaged the nose.

Yeah being a fan of a motorsport overseas must be hard, because the time is different and you would have to wach it at awkward times. Main reason I really dont follow F1 too much.

Considering the weather all week and none of the drivers getting the right amount of practice it was inevitable that this race was wild from the start. Scary and wild. See the last lap of this race made me immediately think of Dale Sr.

Brad Keselowski’s hit on the wall was pretty much the same as Earnhardt’s such a shame we didn’t have the safety all those years ago.
Cole Custer’s block right or wrong tactics he lost everything.

Joseph Byrne February 20, 2021 at 5:35 pm

That was a tense finish. First 500 I’ve not been at for 3 years. Hopefully can get there next year. The atmosphere is electric.

Kind interesting at the beginning of the last 3 decades the Daytona 500 win was their first win as well. Michael Waltrip in 2001 Trevor Bayne in 2011 and Michael McDowell in 2021.

Same, just thinking about his death makes me tear up. So tragic

Reply
Ji Boo January 17, 2022 at 12:34 pm

@Frosty please don’t be a sugar. remember that he was mostly responsible of his crash. seat belt at the wrong placeand loose. and it failed on him. that crash by itself wasn’t a killer. what killed him is himself.

Reply
scottcol23 February 23, 2022 at 7:42 pm

@Ji Boo what are you talking about…. 190mph out of the straight, right into a wall. Even today that would be a mother of a crash. BUT had they had the high back seats and the HANS device he probably would have survived. His seatbelt did not break.

Reply
Ji Boo February 24, 2022 at 9:42 am

@scottcol23 you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. so i’ll leave it there. nothing to do for you.

Reply
MrComeng November 5, 2022 at 10:19 am

it was just a racing accident that happened to kill him. at least he died doing what he loved.

Reply
megachef04 January 31, 2022 at 6:11 am

The no.2 car looked like he slowed to block, the no.34 was not having it, bumped him once, and then bumped him once more sending him into the back of the no.22 car sending both cars out of control, no.34 goes high and shoots out of the turn into the straight taking the lead and then the victory. Crazy race, Good job to all the drivers that was a pretty good race
