In another big NASCAR weekend in Chicago NASCAR made a major announcement and unveiling with their new EV prototype. This is not for any new or existing series but is a stepping stone to the possible future of NASCAR racing overall.

What are your opinions on NASCAR’s new EV prototype and EV racing in general?
Not gonna lie, I don’t understand the hate. Like, yeah, the roar of the engines is iconic and electric wouldn’t be the same, but we haven’t even seen a single race. Give it a chance, right?
@@TheIceberg they need to get rid of the wing. It’s ugly in my opinion
@@zarejonathanGoddamn Liberuuls ruining NASCAR and making it goe woke
The car in my opinion, looks more as a E-TCR but it is a early build and i respect it,But i hope for one thing only.
HOPE THAT THE WING AND THE DESIGN ARE CHANGED FOR THE FINAL PRODUCTS.
I watch nascar because i love the racing not because i like the sound of the cars. And since going electric is the only way NASCAR will last a decade into the future I am very pleased with this.

My question is why do they have a giant wing on the back? Did nobody learn from the Car of Tomorrow?
As for NASCAR EVs, I would most certainly prefer to have them be its own sub-series.
I suspect that NASCAR built this car mostly for road course racing and not intermediate ovals. The wing shouldn’t be an issue at the lower speeds of a typical road course.
@@tescoshortage this looks more like a TCR car
I doubt this car even has roof flaps, will mainly be used for road courses and short tracks
So like Formula E
Almost every major racing series in the world, except NASCAR, runs a rear wing on road courses and ovals and they don’t have any major problems.
With Dana White he’s talking about Nitro Rallycross partnering with NASCAR as Nitrocross already uses EV in their group E class. Whether he’s behind the NASCAR EV Prototype potential series has yet to be seen.
The Prototype is quite groundbreaking, but I don’t think EV racing will ever have the same impact that many other racing series have had for decades. The racing product can be great, but the noise of the cars are part of what make them and the sport attractive
This, I really like EV’s, as daily drivers and commuters they are fantastic, and you can dress them up to be very fun cars to drive too.
But for motorsport, I just can’t see them ever matching the imperfection and agility of ice powered cars enough to be able to create a decent spectacle without the noise, and in general, I don’t think they need too. We can use sustainable fuels and other expensive technology to transition motorsport into a more climate conscious future.
Idk I like engine noise too but if these cars race better it could be come more popular
1300 horsepower would be awesome
The point is to innovate and get fans maybe excited for hybrid. I think it is showing what we can do and slowly introducing fans to hybrid as a transitional technology.
@@scottmcqueen3964Hybrid would do a lot since they recover energy much better than ICE.
NASCAR gave us an EV Prototype before GTA VI
lmao
Be original
That Porsche looking EV prototype looked good. I am not a foreign car lover, but the EV prototype in sports car looked amazing.
I like how they used ICE sounds to make this promo interesting.
@@herewegoagain7403 the drivers will be making race car noises into the mics, like kids playing with hot wheels on coffee tables.
I honestly think NASCAR should move more towards the Garage 56 Prototype. Hybridization would bring a lot of people together. You get the benefit of the big V8 and the added power of electrification. Innovative and AWD NASCAR could be pretty wild. They’d just stick to the road and go!
this should be more liked… the 56 did not had the same flaws of F1 engines, that drastically reduced RPM
If “climate change” WASN’T fear based mind control that is built on guilt to control and eventually destroy all wealth and prosperity I would agree. I’m not “coming together” with fools who fall for government lies. “Climate change” should have taken the East coast by 2000. All of their predictions have not come to fruition. It Is all lies!
WRC runs hybrids and those cars are wicked.
This is a great point!
@@Jfunkey I still think all cars should have some sort of headlights and tail lights, even if just LED. To make them look more realistic, and maybe even provide some illumination on late ending races, like new Hampshire
imagine all electric cars, with 40 diesel powered generators running in the infield
I am not inbred enough to image such idiocy. I have been NOT buying gasoline since 2014 charging both my EV’s with FREE solar. Stupid people love to pay for fuel.
Full scale Slot Cars
Imagine going to a Nascar race that is fully indoors, and the whole building is made from solar siding and solar roofing to power up all the cars.
One: this thing is eerily similar to a TCR car.
Two: nascar may be dumb, but they will not go fully electric in Cup. If they do, they are dead. Or the fans are dumber than I thought (in case they keep watching).
Three: I think the correct way to introduce electric in the Cups series is a hybrid, a project closer to Garage 56. And make a spec series for electrics that can train nascar drivers in road courses, because the overall driving of nascar in those is very bad, a ton of going outside or making a super radius in a given turn.
They literally can’t go electric, they’d only be able to run for a few minutes before needing to charge.
So what nobody is talking about is what it takes to build ANY electric car and how much MORE you need from earth to build it. I say we just keep the corn RENEWABLE fuel and oil and stop making it faster because of safety.
Two concerns:
1. How do you have these cars last 300, 400, 500, or even 600 miles? Yes, more company’s are doing a better job with charging, but it has been well documented that electric and high speeds equal less distance. Charging these cars instantly, like the ICE counterpart, is the big issue.
2. Fires. Fires are a part of Nascar. They are relatively easy to put out. The problem is with the new electric design. I recall reading an article that said (paraphrasing) firefighters are not willing to put out electric fires because the lithium batteries could explode, severely injuring those firefighters. I also recall a situation where a burning Tesla had to be dropped into a pool of water just to put the fire out. What happens if this happens in Nascar? Can Nascar properly keep each driver safe, as most cars have their electric powertrain underneath them. What happens if there is a wreck and the batteries get damaged? Can Nascar keep their drivers safe while they are driving these cars? I just do not think this technology, as cool as it is, is ready for the track.
of course its not ready its literally a prototype lmao
Formula E does it. So I don’t see why NASCAR can’t
@@benjaminpriano9535 twenty lap Bowman Gray feature for first race, probably before the clash.. similar to a mini stock four cylinder feature.
@@NeedsLessWedgeYep the main Cup series can only go as far as creating a hybrid car because Cup series races are obviously longer.
Battery swaps during pit stops. They will find a way to do it…
The prototype looks like a hatchback/SUV so it can be a Blazer, Mach-E, Toyota RAV4 Prime or bZ4X, etc.
